Abstract: Methods of making a paper product can comprise forming a substrate from a first furnish that comprises a plurality of pulp fibers, at least partially dewatering the substrate, treating a second furnish that comprises a plurality of surface enhanced pulp fibers (SEPF) at least by adding one or more enzymes to the second furnish, and sizing the dewatered substrate at least by depositing the treated second furnish onto at least one of opposing first and second surfaces of the dewatered substrate. The SEPF can have a length weighted average fiber length that is greater than or equal to 0.20 millimeters (mm) and an average hydrodynamic specific surface area that is greater than or equal to 10 square meters per gram (m2/g).

Abstract: The purpose of the present invention is to provide a filler for a smoking article, a smoking article comprising the filler for a smoking article, and a method for manufacturing the filler for a smoking article. In one embodiment, the filler according to the present invention for a smoking article, said filler comprising a gel which contains a gelling agent and one or more gelation promoters, is characterized by having a tap density of 0.05 g/cm3 or less and a degree of suitability to compression filling of more than 60. Abstract: A filter for a smoking article has improved biodegradability and improved taste during smoking of the smoking article. The filter includes a segment having a filtration substrate including natural cellulose fibres, and a wrapper at least partly surrounding the segment. The filtration substrate contains a composition including an additive for reducing phenols.
Abstract: A non-sticking lip tipping paper is disclosed that includes a base paper, a color layer and a surface coating. The color layer is formed by printing and drying a color ink on the base paper; the surface coating includes a water-based glue and is coated thereon after drying the color layer. The water-based glue includes the following components by weight: 30-65 parts of a modified water-based resin solution, 10-20 parts of water, 8-15 parts of ethanol, and 5-12 parts of a water-based additive. The water-based additive is a mixture of a wax emulsion and magnesium silicate in a weight ratio of 1:5. A preparation method and a method of applying the non-sticking lip tipping paper are also disclosed.

Abstract: There is provided a flavour system for use in a tobacco industry product. The flavour system comprises lyophilised botanical material, an activator capable of releasing flavourant from the lyophilised botanical material through contact of the activator with the lyophilised botanical material, and a removable barrier preventing contact between the lyophilised botanical material and the activator. The barrier is removable to permit the activator to contact the lyophilised botanical material, thereby to cause release of the flavourant.

Abstract: A smokeless tobacco product includes smokeless tobacco and structural fibers. The structural fibers forming a network in which the smokeless tobacco is entangled. The structural fibers have a composition different from the smokeless tobacco. The tobacco-entangled fabric can have an overall oven volatiles content of at least 10 weight percent. In some embodiments, the structural fibers form a nonwoven network. In some embodiments, fibrous structures of the smokeless tobacco are entangled with the structural fibers.

Abstract: Provided are a method for manufacturing paper with which it is possible to easily manufacture paper wherein water-filterability and yield are excellent and hydrophilia is suppressed without using a cationic polymer or silica, a device for manufacturing an additive for manufacturing paper, and a device for manufacturing paper. The method for manufacturing paper is a method having a reactant generating step for generating a reactant by subjecting an acrylamide polymer to a Hoffman elimination reaction, and a supply step for supplying the reactant to a paper machine within 24 hours of the start of the Hoffman elimination reaction. The acrylamide polymer preferably includes an acrylamide polymer having a intrinsic viscosity of 12.5-28 dl/g and anionization of 0.3 meq/g or less.
Abstract: A hookah bowl. The hookah bowl includes a bowl with a lower stem disposed on a bottom surface of the bowl. The lower stem secures the bowl to an upper end of a reservoir of a hookah pipe. The bowl also has a central receiver disposed upwardly from a center portion of the bowl which is in fluid communication with the reservoir. The central receiver receives a smoking material, such as tobacco. The bowl further includes a ring around a circumference of the central receiver which receives a heating material, such as charcoal. The bowl has a collar disposed upwardly from an outer perimeter of the bowl which can reflect heat towards the central receiver. The hookah bowl can be used to efficiently heat a smoking material while containing consumed materials.
Abstract: A refining member including a refining body with a refining surface including first and second refiner bars separated by first and second refiner grooves. The first and second refiner bars extend from respective first and second radially inward positions to respective first and second radially outward positions. The first and second refiner bars have a respective first and second height extending upward from a floor of a respective, adjacent first or second refiner groove. The second height is a minimum height of the second refiner bars and is spaced apart from the second radially inward position, with the second height being at least about 0.35 mm less than the first height. The first refiner bars are adapted to refine wood fibers and the second refiner bars are adapted to break up fiber bundles.
Abstract: A foam includes a tobacco ingredient containing agent and/or an inhalable agent, an aerosol forming agent, a foam stabilizing agent, and a foam forming agent. In one embodiment, a weight of the tobacco ingredient containing agent and/or the inhalable agent is 0.1-33 wt.-% of a weight of the foam, and a weight of the aerosol forming agent is 10-80 wt. % of the weight of the foam. In another embodiment, the foam forming agent is a non-protein contain polysaccharide and a weight of the foam forming agent is less than 20 wt.-% of the foam.
