  • Patent number: 5857656
Abstract: A suspension apparatus is provided for hanging a space heater having a generally circular top cover for use in a livestock or poultry house. The suspension apparatus is designed to decrease the distance from a support cable end to the top of a space heater, thereby increasing the clearance between the space heater and the floor of the animal house. The suspension apparatus includes a Y-shaped member having a first arm and a second arm that are substantially equal in length. The Y-shaped member additionally includes a third arm that is shorter than the first and second arms. The first, second and third arms of the Y-shaped member are substantially in a common plane. An extension arm is provided, which is slidably mounted on and in parallel relation to the third arm of the Y-shaped member. The first and second arms of the Y-shaped member and the extension arm are engageable with apertured tabs typically provided on a top cover of a space heater. A hook element is fashioned on the extension arm.

  • Patent number: 5850997
Abstract: An articulable projecting plug is disclosed that provides for interchangeable mechanical connection between one of several electronic-signal ports such as video-signal ports, and housing/support structure associated with an electronic device such as a flat-screen television. The plug also accommodates video communication between a video-signal source and such television. The plug includes joining structure constructed to bring the plug into contact with the port and hold them both in such joined relationship. The joining structure includes an outer surface and holder structure for holding the first end of an elongate conductor so that joinder of the plug with the port will also result in contact between such first end and the port. The plug also includes an elongate projecting member terminating with first and second ends, with the first end being operatively connected to the joining structure so that the projecting elongate member extends from it and away from the port.

  • Patent number: 5833190
Abstract: A shelf supporting bracket for a scaffold comprises a pair of spaced apart angle irons connected together by a first cross bar at the rear and a second cross bar located inwardly from the open front end. A diagonal brace bar extends downwardly and forwardly from the rearwardly facing end of the spaced apart angle irons and first cross bar, terminating forwardly at a location below the second cross bar and on a line that extends from the forwardly facing wall of the second cross bar normal to the direction in which the angle irons extend. A semi-cylindrical socket member is secured to the forward end of the diagonal brace bar to receive a lower portion of a scaffold upright when an upper portion is received through the open front end of the spaced apart angle irons and rearwardly to abut against the forwardly facing wall of the second cross bar. • Patent number: 5833207
Abstract: A support or pad for equipment, especially electrical transformers, is disclosed. The pad is designed to permit multi-directional access to its underside; consequently, it need not be positioned specially once a transformer is mounted to it, but rather is accessible in almost any upright orientation to the tines of a fork-lift truck. In some embodiments the tine-receiving recesses do not abut an opening for electrical cables attached to the transformer, the opening instead being bordered by sections of the full depth of the pad. The multiple recesses of the pad thus fail to communicate with the opening, blocking any path along the underside from the periphery of the pad to the cable opening itself.

  • Patent number: 5833182
Abstract: A longitudinally adjustable column for chairs, tables or the like, comprising a vertical tube and a longitudinal adjusting element arranged inside the tube. The longitudinal adjusting element has a cylinder with an axially movable piston rod, and is mounted on a base plate which is held in place inside the tube. The base plate is held in place on one side by an inwardly-bent deformation of the vertical tube, and on the other side by at least one supporting surface on the inner wall of the vertical tube. The deformation is formed by bending a face at one end of the tube in the direction of the inner wall of the tube, so that the outer wall of the tube rests against one side of the base plate.
