  • Patent number: 5680485
Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for mapping digital image data using paired erosion-based filters. One filter of the pair creates a superset of the output image data and the other a subset of the output image data, and combinatorial logic is then applied to the superset and subset data to obtain the mapped image data. In one embodiment a plurality of erosion-based filters are used where one filter of the pair is extensive and the other filter is antiextensive, each pair generating a sample phase of a high resolution output image.

  • Patent number: 5680230
Abstract: The present invention is intended to provide an image processing apparatus capable of two-color output representation in high accuracy even with a full-colored original.A color original is entered by an input means for prescan, a density distribution with respect to a hue is obtained for each electric signal of color image information, and a characteristic point of the color original image is obtained from the result of the density distribution. The two-color separation means separates a full-colored original to two colors free from the same color representation according to the information of the characteristic point obtained.

  • Patent number: 5671065
Abstract: A device for conveying and automatically cutting paper in a facsimile apparatus. When a motor rotates forwardly, a roller for conveying paper rotates, and when the motor rotates reversely, the paper is cut. A stationary cutting edge of an automatic cutter is horizontally fixed and a movable cutting edge installed at the upper portion of the stationary cutting edge moves up and down. Then the paper is cut and a paper jam is prevented by automatic cutter.

  • Patent number: 5666585
Abstract: In the host computer of a multiple photocopier management system, a maintenance supervising system is provided for supervising maintenance job contents on routinely serviced photocopier components. Stored in the host computer RAM are maintenance tables for retaining in routine maintenance sequences job items for periodic maintenance on the photocopier components. After completing routine maintenance on a photocopier, a service engineer inputs maintenance reporting data which is accepted in job store areas of the RAM. The maintenance reporting data categorizes a maintenance job, in particular as to whether a component has been repaired, and indicates actual job content, component-by-component. The routine maintenance sequences each constitute an order of ranking numbers each assigned to a job item, and the rank order in the sequence is updated according to the ranking number corresponding to the content of the reported job.

  • Patent number: 5652702
Abstract: A switched-mode power supply with sinusoidal current consumption includes a rectifier receiving a sinusoidal alternating voltage and having an output at which a rectified alternating voltage can be picked up. A switched controller receives the rectified alternating voltage as an input signal and supplies an output signal. A multiplier device receives and multiplies the input signal by the output signal of the switched controller and generates an output signal being supplied to the switched controller. A divider divides the output signal of the switched controller being supplied to the multiplier device by the input signal being supplied to the controller and weighted on a basis of a transfer function formed by at least two linear partial functions, and delivers a resultant signal to the multiplier device.

  • Patent number: 5644480
Abstract: A power source device for supplying a high frequency AC voltage to a load. An source voltage is changed by a rectifier into a into a DC voltage that is supplied to an inverter to produce the high frequency AC voltage. The high frequency AC voltage is fed back to the rectifier where a resonant circuit resonates with the high frequency AC voltage. The inverter may be self-excited through feedback of the high frequency AC voltage. In this power source device, any pausing in the AC source voltage is filled in through the feedback and resonant circuits.

  • Patent number: 5642202
Abstract: A system and method for calibrating a printing system includes a printer and a master test image document printed by the printer. The master test image has three locator symbols and a plurality of test objects, each symbol having a distinct apex. The apexes are non-colinear. A memory prestores image data corresponding to the test objects printed on the master test image document and positional data corresponding to a desired coordinate value for each non-colinear apex. The system also includes a scanner for scanning the master test image document and detects the locator symbols printed on master test image document to generate transition data therefrom. The calibration process determines a coordinate value for each non-colinear apex based on the transition data and generates a transformation matrix based on a difference between the determined coordinate value for each non-colinear apex and the desired coordinate value for each non-colinear apex.

  • Patent number: 5625466
Abstract: In a digital copying machine, a document image is read and the document image is reproduced on a paper. If a document has a size which does not limit a direction of document on a platen For reading the document image, the document type of portrait or landscape is decided according to the direction of document on the platen. If a user sets a document type, the setting by the user may have priority than the decision according to the document direction. If a document has a size which can be set only along a specified direction for reading the document image, it is requested for a user to set the document direction (portrait document or a landscape document). Then, for example, a margin can be set suitably according to the document type.

  • Patent number: 5615091
Abstract: A power supply has a transformer for isolating circuitry to which power is furnished from the electrical supply lines. The transformer includes a core of ferro-magnetic material with primary and secondary windings wound side-by-side on the core. The primary winding has two layers of turns with a center tap formed at a connection of the turns of each layer that are closest to the secondary winding. Similarly, the secondary winding has two layers of turns with a center tap formed at a connection of the turns of each layer which are closest to the primary winding. A driver applies excitation voltage across the center tap, which also is coupled to earth ground, and a turn of the innermost primary winding layer. The center tap of the secondary winding is used as an isolated ground and a supply voltage is produced between two turns from different layers of the secondary winding.

  • Patent number: 5608538
Abstract: An image on a substrate is scanned by moving the substrate relative to a sensor array. As the raw scan lines are stored, a position reference for each raw scan line is established. First, the raw scan lines are prescaled between a raw resolution between raw scan lines as they are received from the sensor element to an intermediate resolution between scan lines. The position references for the raw scan lines are used during the prescaling step as well as the following scaling steps to accurately determine the position of the raw scan line within the image despite the distortions created by the inexpensive transport mechanism. Next, the prescaled scan lines are scaled "crosswise", that is between pixels in the scan line from a raw resolution sensed by the sensor elements in the sensor array to a chosen pixel resolution.

  • Patent number: 5604601
Abstract: A scanner for copying an image from substrate including a substrate holder for holding the substrate having a reference grid preferably disposed to one side of the substrate. The scanning means, e.g., a CCD array, simultaneously scans the image and the reference grid as the substrate holder is moved relative to the scanning means. The scanner contains software and/or hardware for interpreting the sensed portion of the reference grid as a position. The position is associated with the raw scan line of the image which was sensed at the same time as the sensed portion of the reference grid.
