  • Patent number: 4442364
Abstract: In an overhead electric transmission system in which an overhead conductor includes at least one optical fibre constituting part of an optical communication system, there is provided, at a tower along the system, an electrically conductive rod supported by and electrically insulated by an insulator from the cross-arm of the tower but electrically connected to earth through the primary winding of a step-down voltage transformer. The rod is substantially horizontal and substantially parallel to a group of overhead electric conductors suspended from the cross-arm by an insulator. The surface area of the metal rod and its position with respect to the group of current-carrying conductors of the system are such that electrical power for regenerators or other ancillary equipment of the optical communication system is provided across the secondary winding of the transformer, thereby affording simple and inexpensive means of providing such power.

  • Patent number: 4441034
Abstract: A contact-controlled capacitive switching means utilized as a floor or cabin calling transmitter for lifts or the like is designed such that travel or drive commands for the lift are prevented from being generated by the action of heat or, if generated, from being further transmitted to a lift control system. Therefore, a thermal circuit breaker is interconnected between an actuating element, such as a contact button and a coupling member connected to an input of an oscillator. The thermal circuit breaker may be mounted directly at the contact button or at a mounting plate carrying the contact button. A further thermal circuit breaker is interconnected between an output of the switching means and a connection terminal of a signal transmitting line of the lift control system.

  • Patent number: 4441032
Abstract: Two rectifiers and two inverters are operated under the state under which they are connected in parallel by common transmission lines. These rectifiers and inverters are controlled an independent control apparatus respectively which can selectively apply either the constant current control or the constant voltage control. The control apparatus of each converter has bestowed thereon the reference value of a current to flow through the particular converter and the reference value of a terminal voltage of the particular converter. A signal for lowering the current reference value is added to the control apparatus of one or all of the converters which are to be operated as the inverters. On the other hand, a signal for essentially rendering the terminal voltage of the converter smaller than the voltage reference value is added to the control apparatus of the converter which is to be operated as the converter for determining the voltage of a direct current system.

  • Patent number: 4437018
Abstract: An audio component coupler connects to separate components in an audio system through their power terminals and integrates the components into a unified system in which the components are, at the selection of the user, responsive to either the automatic shut-off of a "master" component having internal automatic shut-off capability or to the operation of a slave component in a predetermined sequence. Control in either case is effectuated wholly from the components themselves and not from the coupler which may thus be placed remote from the components and even in a location not conveniently accessible to the user.
