  • Patent number: 7881205
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for novel error detection and retransmission processes are described. These processes may be implemented on intermediate communication links between two end terminals, wherein the intermediate links are via satellite. Error control mechanisms to detect and retransmit lost or corrupted frames may be implemented at the network layer, or between the network and data link layers. Processes for discovering error control protocol-aware terminals are described. Features of these error control processes may include a configurable delay limit, tailored to traffic type or class.

  • Patent number: 7881196
Abstract: Resource reservation in a packed switched telecommunications network is provided. System and method are directed to make resource reservation especially in an Internet Protocol (IP) network for achieving Quality of Service (QoS) requirements controlling traffic preferable in a Terrestrial Radio Access Network (UTRAN) of a Universal Mobile Telecommunications Network (UMTS). A sub-object of source statistics description characterizes the statistical behavior of a traffic source for example the average length of ON and OFF periods. The sub-object is used to reserve resources in a per-flow reservation method or for calculation of the number of resource units in edge nodes in case of an aggregated reservation method.

  • Patent number: 7876774
Abstract: A plurality of user terminals shares an uplink channel having a plurality of subcarriers according to a contention based random access protocol. Each user terminal is assigned one or more primary subcarriers, which are reserved for specific user terminals. In addition, a pool of supplemental subcarriers is available for use by any user terminal. When a user terminal sends a data packet, the user terminal transmits at least a first portion of the data packet on its assigned primary subcarriers. If additional subcarriers are needed, the user terminal autonomously selects one or more supplemental subcarriers from the pool to transmit a second portion of the data packet. The access point knows a priori which ones of the user terminals are assigned to each of the primary subcarriers. When a user terminal selects one or more supplemental subcarriers, the user terminals send to subcarrier selection information to the access point.

  • Patent number: 7872994
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes steps of verifying, by a first server, that a user associated with an endpoint is authorized to access a service provided by a second server. The first server then sends a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) out-of-dialog REFER with a Replaces header to the second server. A dialog identification ID of a session between the endpoint and the first server is embedded within the Replaces header. The SIP out-of-dialog REFER causes the second server to send a SIP INVITE with the Replaces header to the endpoint to establish a new session between the endpoint and the second server. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract that will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure.

  • Patent number: 7872997
Abstract: A technique for multiple receiver aggregation that allows for multiple immediate responses of acknowledgements or block acknowledgements. The technique uses a spoofed network allocation vector (NAV) implemented within an aggregate's PLCP header to protect the aggregate and all of the immediate responses from multiple receivers. The immediate responses are scheduled, the information indicating the scheduled offset time and granted transmission duration for response of each receiver being included in the physical sublayer data unit (PSDU) headers within the aggregate.

  • Patent number: 7872977
Abstract: A generalized multi-parameter mapping function aggregates decision criteria into a single virtual criterion to rank the potential relay candidates. Optimal rules for next hop relay as applicable to both transmitter-side selection and receiver-side election based forwarding schemes are also provided. Examples of network performance based on two optimization criteria include one-hop progress (greediness) and packet success rate (link quality). A suitable mapping function trades off the greediness for link quality. Simulation information is provided that indicates that the implementation according to the mapping function outperforms the reported transmitter-side link-aware forwarding schemes.

  • Patent number: 7869466
Abstract: The invention relates to the technical field of data transmission via a transmission link according to the TDM method, corresponding to time division multiplex. Such a method is used in an audio mixing console in order to transport the sample words of a plurality of audio channels jointly to an audio DSP processor and, after processing, to transmit them back from said processor to an output processor. Since the data output process is performed in an automated manner with the aid of a DMA unit, severe interfering noise can occur in cases of error, said noise also being output via the loudspeakers. The invention is based on the aim of avoiding such interfering effects. An error detection method based on the marking of data frames is used for this. For this purpose, a number of marking bits of the time slot of the data frame are set, the bit pattern of the marking bits being alternated in a defined sequence.

  • Patent number: 7869370
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a portable Internet analyzer (PIA) having a handover test function. The portable Internet analyzer includes a transmission unit, a reception unit, a switching unit, and a central control unit. The transmission unit encodes the various DownLink signals of a serving and/or target Base Station (stBS) using a preamble index, synthesizes the encoded signals, and sends the synthesized signals to a Portable Subscriber Station (PSS). The reception unit receives various UpLink (UL) signals from the PSS, and decodes the UL signals using the cell Parameters of the stBS. The switching unit selectively switches the transmission unit and the reception unit to the PSS. The central control unit generates various Media Access Control (MAC) messages to be sent to the PSS through the transmission unit in association with the handover test, analyzes handover test-related MAC messages received through the reception unit, and controls switching operation of the switching unit.

  • Patent number: 7869447
Abstract: Information about virtual private networks—VPNs—in each domain of a multi-domain communications system is provided. By comparing a request for a configuration of a VPN with the provided information of other connected domains, a match can be found. VPN configuration can then be performed based on the outcome of the match. The provided domain VPN information is in one embodiment spread to other domains under constrictions put by SLAs between domain operators. The spreading of VPN information can be performed regularly or triggered by an external event. In another embodiment, the VPN configuration request is instead spread to different domains.

  • Patent number: 7864694
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for monitoring the quality of a data link in a 100 Mb Ethernet physical layer device. A link quality monitor detects operational values of data link parameters such as digital equalizer C1 coefficient, digital adaptive gain control, digital base line wander, recovered clock long-term frequency offset, and recovered clock frequency control. When an operational value of a data link parameter exceeds a high or low threshold value, the link quality monitor sends a drop link signal to cause the current data link to be dropped and a new data link established.

  • Patent number: 7864657
Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing stream weighting in a spatial-division multiple access communication system is provided herein. During operation the base station receiver receives channel information from mobiles (also known as users or nodes) and calculates transmit antenna weights that that maximize the power delivered to each mobile while allowing for a small amount of crosstalk to exist between users. Information or data is transmitted to the nodes utilizing the appropriate stream weights. By allowing tolerable amounts of cross talk, the coherent gain to the desired SDMA user can be increased, and thus the overall performance is improved.

  • Patent number: 7864703
Abstract: A packet communication device, which provides a modular node capable of setting up the operation of the node at a time without updating a program in the node body when a new functional module is installed, sends a process setting content, requested by a configuration file specified by a manager, to functional modules as an offering message and determines whether or not the functional modules can process the content of the offering message. Based on the answers of offering, a configuration processing program of a node determines a functional module, to which processing it to be assigned, according to a predetermined method.
