Patent number: 4067634Abstract: A one-piece housing for electrical terminals is disclosed, the housing being of the dead-front type and the enclosed terminals being connectable to external electrical circuits through apertures in the dead-front. The housing is generally formed of a dead-front or base member and two side casings, with web hinges joining these members as integral parts and allowing the side casings to pivot into opened and closed positions on the base member. Screw fasteners, located adjacent the ends of the casings remote from the web hinges, secure the casings together and clamp an electrical cord that is wired to the electrical terminals. Access to the enclosed electrical terminals is obtained, for wiring purposes, by opening one or both of the side casings. Locking lugs are formed integral with the side casings and base member to secure the casings to said base member, when the casings are closed, and provide a locking action in directions both longitudinal and lateral of the housing.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 1977Date of Patent: January 10, 1978Assignee: Harvey Hubbell, IncorporatedInventor: Ernest Gerhard Hoffman

Patent number: 4065201Abstract: A cable connector for securely connecting an electric cable to the housing of an electric device such as a motor. The connector includes a body and a nut, the body having a rearwardly extending, elongated neck with an internal bore through which may be passed a cable or the like. The neck is externally threaded along at least a portion of its length to receive the internally threaded nut, and the wall of the neck has at least one generally U-shaped slot therethrough to provide at least one forwardly-extending ear movable radially inwardly and outwardly of the neck. The radial thickness of the at least one ear increases forwardly, with the thickness of the ear at its forward end being greater than that of the adjacent neck walls, whereby, as the nut is threaded forwardly onto the neck, the ear is cammed inwardly of the bore to firmly grasp a cable.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 1976Date of Patent: December 27, 1977Assignee: E. Patent number: 4063792Abstract: For transfer of electrical energy at high voltage between relatively moving parts it is known to use slip rings and cooperating brushes immersed in insulating liquid. A liquid insulated slip ring connection is described, in which one part is caused to pass through a reservoir of insulating liquid to maintain the insulation without complete immersion and consequent rotating liquid seals. In one example the reservoir itself is formed on the moving part and the liquid is distributed by the forces of rotation.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 1977Date of Patent: December 20, 1977Assignee: EMI LimitedInventor: James Alec Lodge

Patent number: 4063793Abstract: A boot for an electrical cap and connector is provided in the form of a resilient tubular sheath. The midportion of the sheath conforms closely to a portion of the body of the cap or connector. There are two end portions which are of smaller diameter. One end portion is tapered to fit about a cord extending from the cap or connector and provides a seal against the cord surface. The other end of the connector is preferably of a diameter slightly less than that of the midportion of the boot and extends from or over the end of the body of the cap or connector. The resiliency of the material of the cap or connector boot permits the automatic overlapping of one of the extended smaller diameter sections over the other to form an effective seal at their juncture against outside environments.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 1976Date of Patent: December 20, 1977Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventor: Edwin B. Patent number: 4062608Abstract: A telephone handset cord storage apparatus utilizes a housing containing a shaft journaled therein. The shaft carries a reel for the storage of portions of the length of a telephone cord in multi-turn solenoid-like layers. The shaft is biased in a preferred direction of rotation by a helical spring. A rod is slidably affixed to the housing and is adapted with an opening through which a portion of the cord passes. A crankshaft is pivotably affixed to the free end of the rod and eccentrically pivotably affixed to a gear rotatably operated when the shaft is rotated, thus winding and unwinding the cord in an orderly fashion within the storage area of the reel. Means are provided to fixedly secure the housing to a supporting surface adjacent a telephone apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 1977Date of Patent: December 13, 1977Inventor: Arthur Pierce

Patent number: 4062609Abstract: A spring contact element is soldered to the end section of a plate holder hub in a high frequency tuneable cavity. The spring contact extends outwardly transverse to the shaft's principle direction and terminates in a plurality of radially extending contact fingers inclined toward and in contact with a wall of the cavity at the end of the hub. Attachment of the spring contact electrically at the plate holder hub and consequent moving contact between the cavity wall and the spring contact member at a circumference considerably larger than that at the hub provides reduced current densities in the vicinity of the moving contact between the wall and the spring contact and consequently considerably reduced power loss at high frequencies above 100 MHz.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 1976Date of Patent: December 13, 1977Assignee: Texscan CorporationInventor: Bruce G.
