Abstract: A system is configured for extracting historical information for a first plurality of resource pools, generating a historical dynamic graph based on the historical information, identifying from the historical information, a historical set of resource distribution events associated with a malfeasance, determining from the historical dynamic graph, at least one historical malfeasance pattern, receiving current resource distribution request information for a second plurality of resource pools, generating a current dynamic graph comprising a current plurality of nodes and a current plurality of edges, monitoring the current dynamic graph and identify a current malfeasance pattern, and executing one or more remediation actions on one or more of the second plurality of resource pools associated with the current dynamic graph.

Abstract: Techniques are described for adjusting parameter settings for bitrate selection algorithms for different segments of a population of devices streaming content. Streaming sessions are identified according to session characteristics. Within each segment of sessions, control parameter settings are sent to devices corresponding to a subset of each segment. Test parameter settings are sent to devices corresponding to another subset of each segment. If the test parameter settings result in better playback performance relative to the control parameter settings, the test parameter settings become the new control parameter settings, and new test parameter settings are generated.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed to measure mobile broadband market share. A disclosed example method involves invoking an adapter query on a computing device in response to detecting a request for Internet services, identifying a plurality of available adapters on the computing device based on the adapter query, and determining whether the computing device includes a mobile broadband service provider based on which one of the plurality of available adapters is servicing the request for Internet services.

Abstract: A system and method dynamically transitions the file system role of compute nodes in a distributed clustered file system for an object that includes an embedded compute engine (a storlet). Embodiments of the invention overcome prior art problems of a storlet in a distributed storage system with a storlet engine having a dynamic role module which dynamically assigns or changes a file system role served by the node to a role which is more optimally suited for a computation operation in the storlet. The role assignment is made based on a classification of the computation operation and the appropriate filesystem role that matches computation operation. For example, a role could be assigned which helps reduce storage needs, communication resources, etc.

Abstract: A system includes a processor configured to attempt a packet-data connection for a first number of attempts, including a predetermined short delay between each unsuccessful attempt. The processor is also configured to delay for a longer predetermined delay determined based on a predetermined long delay less a total duration of preceding failed connection attempts, responsive to another failed connection attempt after failures for the first number of attempts, and repeat the attempt and delay steps until a connection is established.

Abstract: An application awareness system for a virtualized infrastructure. The application awareness system may use commands in standardized protocols to obtain data from virtual entities in the virtualized infrastructure. The data may be processed to indicate applications on specific virtual entities. The application awareness system may interact with those applications to gain information about the configuration of the application, or for a distributed application, components of the application on each of the plurality of virtual entities. These techniques may be applied to both virtual machines and containers, generating data that may be used in any of multiple management functions performed on the virtual infrastructure, such as backup, monitoring and resource allocation.

The first computer includes a storage section adapted to store a template that associates role information of the second computer and a network address of the second computer; and a reply section adapted to return the network address of the second computer associated with the role information to the second computer in response to reception of the role information from the second computer. The second computer includes an input section adapted to input the role information of the second computer; a transmission section adapted to send the input role information of the second computer to the first computer; and a network address setup section adapted to specify the network address, returned from the first computer, for the second computer.

Abstract: A computer implemented method includes supplying to a user at a client device a prompt to contact a matched individual. A proposed communication from the user to the matched individual is monitored. The proposed communication is compared to a set of effective communication policies to selectively identify an effective communication policy violation. A warning is supplied to the user in response to the effective communication policy violation. A signal is received from the user to send a completed communication to the matched individual. Network routing of the completed communication from the client device to the matched individual is enabled.

Abstract: A computerized-method for identification of a particular agent within a contact center that participates in an on-line chat session with a customer is provided. An on-line chat system can receive a request from the customer to initiate the on-line chat session. An invisible identifier can be inserted into a message for the online-chat session that uniquely identifies a particular agent handling the chat.

Abstract: A computing device may include a memory and a processor cooperating with the memory to host virtual computing sessions to be remotely displayed at a client device via a frame buffer, with the client device being configured to render the virtual computing sessions via a graphical user interface (GUI). The computing device may further detect regions of interactive graphics within a virtual computing session based upon a virtual session input and without analyzing the frame buffer, assign a higher priority to the regions of interactive graphics than other content within the frame buffer, and send the contents of the frame buffer to the client device for rendering in the GUI based upon the assigned priority.

Abstract: A communication system may include a plurality of geographically proximate nodes that communicate via one or more range-limited wireless technologies such as BLUETOOTH® low energy (BLE). An origin node may generate and communicate a first message responsive to detecting an event occurrence. The message may include an identifier associated with the origin node, data indicative of the event occurrence, a hop count, a maximum hop count, and a number of designated recipient nodes within the communication system. A first designated recipient node may, upon receiving the first message, attempt to confirm the event occurrence included in the first message. Upon confirming the event occurrence, the first designated recipient node may communicate a notification to an external third party. If unable to confirm the event occurrence, the first designated recipient node may generate and communicate a second message to a second designated recipient node included in the first message.

Abstract: Distributing kernels in a containerized computing environment includes executing, using computer hardware, a notebook server in a first container, wherein the notebook server is configured to communicate with a gateway in a second container, in response to a request for a kernel from the notebook server, the gateway requesting, using the computer hardware, a new container including the kernel from a container manager, instantiating, using the computer hardware, the new container including the kernel within a selected computing node of a plurality of computing nodes, publishing, using the computer hardware, communication port information for the new container to the gateway, and exchanging electronic messages, using the computer hardware, between the notebook server and the kernel through the gateway using the communication port information for the new container.

The first action is implemented using a client-side resource of the client device without transmitting the first request from the client device to the server that the first request was originally destined for. A second request message with a second request specifying a second action is intercepted. It is determined that the second action cannot be performed by any of the client-side resources of the client device. The second request specifying the second action is transmitted from the client device to the server.
