  • Patent number: 9890684
Abstract: A method and a device for operating an exhaust gas aftertreatment, wherein a diesel particulate filter is regenerated during the operation, in particular passively regenerated, wherein a corrected differential pressure is calculated from a current differential pressure across the diesel particulate filter at a current exhaust gas volumetric flow rate and with a current correction factor. The current correction factor is determined by determining a lower differential pressure in a predetermined time interval at a defined exhaust gas volumetric flow rate, in particular in a specified exhaust gas volumetric flow rate interval around the defined exhaust gas volumetric flow rate, and comparing the lower differential pressure with a specified current reference value and, depending thereon, calculating a new correction factor or retaining the previous correction factor as the current correction factor.

  • Patent number: 9863633
Abstract: The specification and drawings present a new apparatus and method for continuously providing oxygen-enriched gas/air produced from a predefined atmospheric air (normally comprising 78% of nitrogen N2 and 21% of oxygen O2) to a combustion area/chamber, using an impeller-based apparatus having a duct system. The impeller system can comprise at least one plurality of gates for capturing the oxygen-enriched gas/air to automatically improve processes of combustion, exhaust and/or related properties of the apparatus. The impeller can comprise a plurality of blades which, when rotating/spinning, may create the desired gas density/mass separation of oxygen and nitrogen. Furthermore, a nitrogen-enriched gas/air can be further provided from a predefined atmospheric air using the impeller-based apparatus with at least one plurality of further gates system/duct, gates rotating in sync with impeller blades, for collecting the nitrogen-enriched gas/air to further improve one or more apparatus parameters.

  • Patent number: 9863298
Abstract: An engine system includes an electronically controlled compression ignition engine configured to burn diesel fuel and a high ash oil to produce an exhaust with a temperature and NOx to soot ratio as well as a controlled level of ash deposits on the particulate filter of the system. An aftertreatment system is fluidly connected to the engine and includes a diesel oxidation catalyst, a reductant supply, and a diesel particulate filter coated with a NOx reduction catalyst. The soot load density on the diesel particulate filter can be stabilized by oxidizing soot at about a same rate as the compression ignition engine is supplying soot to the aftertreatment system.

  • Patent number: 9863337
Abstract: A system includes a soot module, a coordinator module, a regeneration module, and actuator modules. The soot module determines a current amount of soot mass in a particulate filter of a gasoline engine, where the particulate filter is downstream from the gasoline engine and receives an exhaust gas from the gasoline engine. The coordinator module generates an enable signal, a torque reserve signal, and an equivalence ratio. The regeneration module, based on the current amount of soot mass and the enable signal, generates a regeneration signal to regenerate the particulate filter. The actuator modules, based on the regeneration signal, the torque reserve signal and the equivalence ratio, retard spark and increase an amount of air flow to the particulate filter. The actuators maintain a same amount of torque out of the gasoline engine during regeneration as output from the gasoline engine prior to the regeneration of the particulate filter.
