  • Patent number: 8540503
Abstract: A disk substrate molding apparatus has a disk substrate molding die and a temperature controller. The disk substrate molding die includes a stamper, a first die including a mirror member to which the stamper comes in contact, and a second die including a molding surface which forms a disk-shaped cavity between the molding surface and the stamper. The second die includes a protruding part which protrudes toward the stamper at an outer circumferential part of the molding surface. The temperature controller controls temperature of the second die so that the protruding part exhibits a higher temperature in comparison to a region further toward the inner circumferential side than the protruding part, and controls temperature of the first die so that a region opposite to the protruding part exhibits a lower temperature in comparison to the protruding part in the mirror member.

  • Patent number: 8535043
Abstract: The present invention provides molds useful in contact lens production, which molds incorporate a centering and spacing feature in the form of tabs on one of the mold halves. The spacing feature both centers the mold halves in relationship to each other and permits free flow of excess monomer from the mold. Additionally, the spacing feature aids in height control of the one mold half in relation to the other mold half.

  • Patent number: 8529239
Abstract: A soap remnant molding assembly is provided for combining, heating and re-forming small soap remnants into full size soap bars. The assembly includes a housing having a bottom and an exterior wall defining an interior space of the housing. A tray is positioned in the interior space. A plurality of heating elements is positioned in the interior space around the tray. A power source is operationally coupled to the heating elements and a switch is operationally coupled between the heating elements and the power source. The switch selectively activates and deactivates the heating elements to heat and then cool the tray such that the soap remnants convert to a liquid and the liquid in the tray subsequently hardens into a single soap bar.

  • Patent number: 8485494
Abstract: The concepts disclosed herein provide for a concrete mold that improves upon existing concrete molds known in the art. The hinged side-panel members that are locked to a hold-down frame allow for the mold to cure a concrete member, and then allow the concrete member to be removed without the need to break-down the frame surrounding the concrete member. During the pouring and ensuing curing process of the concrete member, the hinged side-panel members are secured to the hold-down frame and to each other in order to hold the concrete in the mold. Once the concrete is cured, the hinged side-panel members may be unlocked and opened quickly, allowing for expedient removal of the concrete member. After closing and re-locking the hinged side-panel members, the mold may be reused to cure another concrete member without the need to rebuild the frame around the mold.

  • Patent number: 8459975
Abstract: A structural surface design device for creating a design with finishing surface material on a surface, the device having a base with raised projections on the bottom. Such projections have less of an affinity for the finishing surface material than does the surface on which such finishing surface material is to be applied. A handle extends upward from the base. And, optionally, the cross-sectional shape of the base is the same as the cross sectional shape of a container for the finishing surface material with the dimensions of the container and the base being such that the edge of the base, when the base has been inserted into the container, is sufficiently close to the wall or walls of the container that any finishing surface material in said container will not cure.

  • Patent number: 8459978
Abstract: A mold for manufacturing a composite drive shaft, most of which, except for opposite ends functioning as power transmission parts, has a tubular shape with a circular cross-section similar to that of a general shaft, and the shape of each end of which is changed so as to realize easy removal of the drive shaft from the mold after molding. Further, the present invention provides a composite drive shaft, which is manufactured using the mold and is configured such that, when a connection joint (metal yoke) is assembled with each end of the drive shaft, the drive shaft can be rotated in an integrated state realized by the connection joints. Thus, the composite drive shaft of the present invention can directly transmit power, instead of a mechanical fastening jointing technique or an adhesive bonding jointing technique, thus efficiently transmitting high torque.

  • Patent number: 8449280
Abstract: A machine (10) for blow molding containers (100). The machine (10) has a stationary flow head (26) located proximate a turntable (12) on which molds (16) are mounted. A dwell cam mechanism (110, 120, 132) on the turntable causes the molds to accelerate ahead of the turntable, stop under the flow head to receive a parison (31), then accelerate to catch up with the turntable. This sequence allows the turntable to rotate continuously. Blow pins (30) mounted on the turntable inject gas into the molds to blow mold the parison while traveling a first path (144). Paddles (142) grip the molded containers and travel a second path (146) radially outward from the first path. The containers blow-molded from the parisons at a first station (18) are retained on the turntable after the turntable completes one full revolution and again passes the first station.

  • Patent number: 8419992
Abstract: This invention provides a mold for a gasket, which can render the planar shape of a mold for integral molding of a large-diameter gasket as small as possible to reduce the size of the manufacturing equipment and, at the same time, by virtue of integral molding, does not require labor and time in the manufacture thereof and does not cause a lack of strength in the connecting part. To this end, a mold (1) for molding an endless-type gasket comprises a plurality of molding parts (11,21), formed by disposing two molding grooves (12, 22), in a spiral wound form, in parallel so as to be adjacent to each other. The spiral wound molding grooves (12, 22) have reversing parts (14, 24) in their respective inner ends (13, 23), and, at the same time, their outer ends (15, 25) are connected to each other in a rope form.

  • Patent number: 8403659
Abstract: An electroformed tooling device is disclosed. The device includes an electroformed tool with electrodeposited metal which has been plated from a structured substrate on a molding side to function as a molding surface and an uneven contour on a non-molding side of the electroformed tool left as a by-product of electroforming. The device also includes a blank base comprising a top surface, a network of thermal management channels, and at least a first opening and a second opening communicating with the network of thermal management channels to allow fluid to flow into the first opening and flow through the network of thermal management channels and flow out the second opening. The top surface further includes an electro-discharge machined contoured surface to mate with the uneven contour on the non-molding side of the electroformed tool. Fluid flowing through the thermal management channels cools or alternately cools and heats the electroformed tool.
