  • Patent number: 8061409
Abstract: A mold that can prevent molten metal from leaking out of it as well as from leaking onto a parting plane of the mold. The mold includes a lower mold having a concave portion that has the shape of a product, into which the amount of molten metal required to produce a casting is poured and an upper mold comprising a convex portion that has the shape of the casting, and forming a cavity that molds the casting, when the upper mold overlaps the lower mold. A structure is formed so as to have certain clearances between the lower mold and the upper mold such that molten metal is prevented from leaking onto the parting plane that is formed where the upper mold and the lower mold overlap, when the casting is produced.

  • Patent number: 8025267
Abstract: This invention concerns a concrete side form system suitable for factory casting or site casting concrete. The side form (10) comprises a substantially rigid longitudinally extending wall. The wall has a first face to define the edge profile of a concrete panel poured onto a casting bed (16) bounded by the wall and a second face opposite the first face having formation to enable the wall to be secured to the casting bed. The wall comprises a longitudinally extending frame having formation along at least one of its edges to removably receive a removable longitudinal insert (13) to provide a shape along an edge of the concrete panel. The removable inserts (12, 13) provide the system with the ability to simply, easily and cost effectively change the edge profile of concrete poured against the side form. Architects can use the invention to specify standard or non standard edge profiles and achieve a much more diverse range of aesthetic finishes to the concrete edges without the cost being prohibitive.

  • Patent number: 7997889
Abstract: A hard mold and method of preparing the mold is disclosed. The hard mold is designed for manufacturing articles having various shapes and patterns. The shaping mold includes a layer of hardened material provided over the entire surface of the selected master. The inventor has found that a polyurea coating or other polyurethane hybrid is preferred. Once the layer of hardened material has dried, the surface of the hardened material is sanded with a 20-40 grit sandpaper and a layer of polyester resin is then applied to the layer of hardened material. Once the polyester resin is applied, multiple layers of vinyl ester are applied to the polyester resin to prevent the polyester resin from shrinking.
