  • Patent number: 8032088
Abstract: A method, apparatus, software product, and network element enable a user equipment to operate in an idle mode, to sense a change in the broadcasted location area, and to then report that change to a network without requiring a dedicated connection to the network. This embodiment is achieved by sending an identifier via an uplink transport channel, and then the user equipment receives a resource allocation that is based at least partly on the identifier. The user equipment provides an uplink signal via the allocated resource, including a user equipment identity in the uplink signal. When the user equipment receives confirmation, including the user equipment identity, then the user equipment reenters the idle mode. The uplink signal provided an update as to the location area of the user equipment, although other types of signals can instead be provided this way to the network.

  • Patent number: 8028723
Abstract: A receiving container is filled with a predetermined target mass mz of a free-flowing substance from a reservoir with the help of a dosage-dispensing device that dispenses measured doses of the substance. The device has a valve for variably setting the mass flow {dot over (m)} from the reservoir into the receiving container. The device is also able to determine the time t that has elapsed since the beginning of the fill cycle, the mass m of the substance present in the receiving container, and a unit for controlling the valve. The controller unit includes estimating and correction modules. At least once during the fill cycle, the estimating module performs an estimate of the mass {tilde over (m)}(t, t2) that is expected to be present in the receiving container at the end of the fill cycle at the time t2. This estimate is based on the assumptions that from the time t onward the valve is being closed according to a predefined closing-down profile and the fill cycle is completed at the time t2.

  • Patent number: 7988076
Abstract: A non-clogging non-pressure compensated drip emitter that utilizes one or more filters or one or more inwardly offset filters that have an inlet that projects inwardly toward a centerline of the hollow cylindrical emitter body and a labyrinth having only turbulent transfer zones after water enters the labyrinth, wherein the labyrinth couples the filter(s) or inwardly offset filter(s) to the pool. Prevents clogging by eliminating dead transfer zones where sediment can accumulate where no turbulence exists. Also prevents clogging when the filter is positioned downward as the inwardly offset filter rises above any sediment when the emitter is positioned in the field in this downward orientation. Also prevents clogging flat filter configurations that have filters offset radially, i.e., redundant filters per emitter.
