Abstract: A gutter assembly for collecting drainage from a building portion such as adjacent roof sections forming a valley in which a primary gutter preferably comprising a plurality of telescoping gutter sections is disposed along the building portion, while a flexible liquid-impervious membrane extends continuously along the building portion beneath the primary gutter to catch any drainage escaping therefrom. A secondary gutter also preferably comprising a plurality of telescoping gutter sections supports the membrane along its length beneath the primary gutter to ensure against rupture of the flexible membrane from liquid pressure.
Abstract: A technique for sealing a skylight at its curb frame flange about an opening in a building and in which the sealing technique is a dry sealing technique. The improvement comprises dry seal element means extending integrally from the underside surface of the flange and being flexible and adapted to bend and compress to a position substantially parallel to the flange upon securing of the curb frame flange to the building.
Abstract: The invention relates to a structural element for the manufacture of casings, wall disks, boxes and such articles comprising a shell made of thermosetting plastic and preferably reinforced to give it shape stability by reinforcement members which, more particularly, are formed by reinforcement grids composed of iron bars welded to one another and are fully enclosed by the plastic. On account of the enclosed air chambers, these structural elements have good thermal insulation properties. They are exceptionally well suited, for example, for greenhouses, plant boxes and the like.
Abstract: A method for constructing a multistory building comprising: constructing finished modules having a concrete base and vertical sidewalls; placing a first series of such modules at a single horizontal level such that at least one sidewall of each such module is spaced by a distance of from about 2 to about 12 inches from and is parallel to the sidewall of another such module; pouring and hardening concrete to fill at least a portion of the space between such sidewalls from the base to the top of such sidewalls to form supporting concrete walls; placing another additional series of such modules on the tops of the supporting concrete walls in the spaced relationship previously described and filling the spaces to form additional supporting concrete walls; and repeating the procedure previously described until the desired number of levels of modules is obtained.
Abstract: A gap stringer conveyor belt support structure having a pair of spaced apart parallel stringers with rollers therebetween and a pair of underlying support frames. Each support frame includes a pair of generally vertical extensible load bearing posts each of which is connected at its upper end to a stringer and at its lower end to a weight bearing anchor. A third extensible post is connected at one end to a stringer and extends in a direction diagonally to the vertical posts to connect at its other end to an anchor. The weight bearing anchors may be imbedded in the ground. The connections between the extensible posts at the stringers and anchors are pivotal to permit adjustment by movement about at least an axis parallel to the stringers. Each extensible post is provided with a clamp or lock to hold it at a selected length.
Abstract: A construction system comprises modules of polygonal shape including elongated rectangles, squares, triangles and trapezoids of stiff sheet material formed with integral interlocking tabs along their margins to permit them to be easily and firmly secured to each other to form three dimension structures. Some of the modules also incorporate interlocking slots for securement to each other. This system is especially adapted to the construction by children of an infinite variety of large structures such as playhouses and the like of sufficient size to permit children to play in them.
Abstract: A slab hanger-fastener for supporting and securing shutter slabs over mausoleum vaults or niches. The device is structured so that it may be used to secure shutter slabs at the corners or intermediate portions of the slabs. A mechanism of the same design and construction may be used to secure slabs at the end, bottom and top margins of a vault or niche structure. The support member of the mechanism is adjustable relative to the walls of the vault or niche and may be securely locked in desired position with a solitary locking mechanism.
Abstract: Grid tees for suspension ceilings are disclosed in which a cross section is provided concentrating material at the two extremities of the grid tees. Such grid tee sections are also formed to provide a shear center which is centrally located substantially along the web section of the tee. In some embodiments, a single strip is formed to provide three laterally extending layers adjacent to the upper extremity of the bulb, and in another embodiment a single strip of material is formed to concentrate material on one side of the web at the bulb extremity and on the other side of the web at the flange extremity so as to balance the section and locate the shear center along the web plane.
Abstract: A retaining clip composed of a resilient clasping spring and a lock member wherein the clasping spring operates to releasably engage the engagement portion of a panel member, such as a wall or ceiling plate, the engagement portion operating to resiliently displace the clasping spring when the panel member is brought into supported engagement therewith and to further resiliently displace the clasping spring so that it may be brought into engagement with the lock member to hold the clasping spring in a disengaged position to allow the panel member to be released, the clasping spring being adapted to be brought back to its original position when a panel member is to be again brought into supported engagement therewith.
Abstract: The present invention provides the structure of a multilayered unit for windows, comprising a plurality of planar members, a flexible film disposed between, and spaced from, two of said planar members, and a stretching member capable of developing elasticity for stretching the flexible film taut by imparting thereto a force in a direction angularly displaced to the film surface of the said flexible film extending at least over that region of said planar members which forms a window, and the planar member present on at least one side of the flexible film being transparent or semi-transparent.The present invention also provides a multilayered unit for windows and a multilayered window having the same stretching member as in the above structure.
Abstract: A counter batten-rafter connecting bracket comprises a rafter engaging member to be secured to a roof rafter, a generally planar connecting member normal to the rafter engaging member, a counter batten engaging member extending parallel to the rafter engaging member and affixed to the connecting member. The rafter engaging member and counter batten engaging member each has at least one flange disposed in a plane normal to the planes of the rafter engaging member 1, counter batten engaging member and connecting member.
