Abstract: The subject invention is a delay door closer that is to be used in conjunction with a dual door arrangement such as a screen door mounted in conjunction with an entry door of a house or other building. A catch mechanism is mounted on the door jamb with the catch mechanism functioning to lock and hold the screen door in an open position when the entry door is in the closed position. Upon opening of the entry door a sufficient amount to where the user is now able to enter the building, the catch mechanism is disengaged which will cause the screen door to be moved from its open position to a closed position.
Abstract: A door hinge assembly is provided which includes a mounting body with a pocket for receiving an edge of a door, a clamping mechanism positioned on and securing the mounting body to the door, a pin projecting upwards from the mounting body and a bushing for receiving the pin. The bushing is mounted in a recess of a door frame and preferably includes a series of fluted ribs along its outer wall. An annular ring projects inwardly from an inner wall of the bushing. A channel on the pin receives the annular ring and retains same within the bushing.
Abstract: A grip contains a profiled membrane (1) made of flexible material with two lips (1c) (1d) forming an interior collar, leaving the passage for the introduction of a tool shaft with any cross section free and which, when used and handled, allows the collars to fulfil the function of sealing lips and in that the profiled membrane forms at least one air chamber (1a) on the inside, and when the grip is handled by the user the membrane is deformed and creates a vacuum in the interior chambers (1a) (1b), forming suction pads on the tool shaft.

Abstract: The present invention discloses door closers provided with automatic latching in any position along the stroke, and delayed action mechanism together with a mechanism to switch on and off the automatic latching and the delayed action operation modes. The function, on which the automatic latching and the delayed action functions are based, are described in detail and examples of embodiments in door closers provided with either automatic latching or delayed action or both are also described.
Abstract: A safety, fluid-actuated cylinder-and-piston mechanism for use with an article which is movable between first and second positions. The mechanism comprises a conventional, fluid-actuated cylinder-and-piston mechanism and an automatic locking bar. The piston rod of the cylinder-and-piston mechanism has one end attached to the movable article, and is movable between a fully retracted position in which the article is in its first position and a fully extended position in which the article is in its second position. The locking bar has a pivot end proximate the attachment between the piston rod and the movable article, and an opposite, nonpivot end. The locking bar is pivotable between a lowered and fully raised position and has a plurality of partially raised positions between its lowered and fully raised positions.

Abstract: A blocking device for preventing a door closer from achieving a degree of rotation corresponding to a door hold-open position. A blocking device is provided which can be selectively protruded into a door closer housing to block the translation of a cam plate under influence of a rotating cam operatively connected to one of either the door or the door frame such that the 90.degree. or 105.degree. typical door hold open position cannot be achieved. The blocking device can be a rotatable limit bar which can be positioned to an interference or no-interference position, or it can be screw pins which can be threadingly inserted into the housing to block either the cam or other moving portions of the door closer such that the closer cannot achieve the door hold open position.
Abstract: A caster is provided that includes a wheel rotatable about a wheel axis of rotation, a housing, a locking arm linked to the housing, and a locking bar linked to the housing. The housing includes a housing side wall and a housing detent formed in the housing side wall. The locking arm is movable between an unlocked position to permit the wheel to rotate about its wheel axis of rotation and a locked position to prevent or substantially restrict rotation of the wheel about its wheel axis of rotation. The locking arm is linked to the wheel so that movement of the locking arm between the locked and unlocked positions moves the wheel. The locking arm includes a locking arm side wall and a flared portion formed in the locking arm side wall and extending outwardly toward the housing side wall, the flared portion is engaged with the housing detent when the locking arm is in the locked position and disengaged from the housing detent when the locking arm is in the unlocked position.
Abstract: A caster with a stem generally cylindrical over most of its external circumference, but provided with at least one flat face cut through the cylinder external circumference so as to provide the cylinder with a slight "D" shaped cross section. The stem is designed to seat in a corresponding "D" shaped bore hole of a mobile platform, the shapes cooperating to secure the stem against rotation. The stem is internally threaded, and can fit into either cylindrical or "D" shaped bore holes.
Abstract: A assemblage for mounting a caster wheel on a depending stationary post on a wheeled load carrier comprises a body element having a cylindrical chamber concentrically surrounding the support post. The body element has a bracket for mounting a caster wheel for rotation about a horizontal axis. A vertical stack of washers surround the support post and alternate ones of such washers are secured to the support post and rotatable within the cylindrical chamber while the remainder of such washers are co-rotatable with the body element about the axis of the support post. The cylindrical chamber is filled with a lubricating fluid to a sufficient depth to cover all abutting surfaces of said washers, thereby providing viscous fluid shearing resistance to shimmying movement of the caster wheel relative to the support post. To maintain the friction between the support post and body element independent of the amount of load, anti-friction thrust bearings are provided between the support post and the body element.

Abstract: A grommet assembly for sealingly mounting elongated elements in an aperture in a panel such as the dash panel of a motor vehicle. The grommet assembly includes inner and outer grommet members which are relatively telescopically arranged. The outer grommet member has a rearwardly opening cup shaped configuration, is formed of a resilient material, and includes a tapered forward portion sized to fit in the panel aperture. The inner grommet member has a forwardly opening cup shaped configuration, is formed of a rigid material, and includes an annular wall telescopically received within the annular wall of the outer grommet member and engaging a front wall of the outer grommet member at a location forwardly of the annular groove.
Abstract: A curtain suspension device for suspending curtains, drapes and other sheet-like material from a support bar or rod comprised of a generally circular curved member having an inner surface, an end and an opposite, the end fixedly attached to a first gripping member and the opposite end fixedly attached to a second gripping member. At least one gripping protrusion and at least one gripping protrusion receiving notch are opposingly, alternately and concentrically formed on the gripping surface of the first gripping member and on the gripping surface of the second gripping member. A friction reducing element is formed on the inner surface of the curved member minimizing frictional resistance as the curtain suspension device is moved along a prior art support bar or rod.
Abstract: A handle for a suitcase includes a base having two barrels disposed in the end portions for slidably receiving two tubes. A plate is secured to the bottom of the base and two slides are slidably engaged in the plate. The slides each has a latch for engaging with the tubes and each includes an inclined slot. A knob includes two inclined legs engaged with the inclined slots of the slides. The slides are moved toward each other or moved away from each other by the engagement of the inclined legs of the knob with the inclined slots of the slides.
Abstract: A caster assembly having rattle-free operation is presented. The caster comprises an inverted U-shaped horn member carrying an axle (i.e., a shoulder bolt). A wheel rotating on a spanner is supported between leg portions of the horn by the axle. A brake support and treadle lever are mounted on the axle and provide for locking the caster wheel. A spring tab is formed integrally in the treadle lever. The spring tab is spring biased inwardly to force the brake support and the treadle lever apart. The maintenance of a constant tension separating the brake support and the treadle lever results in rattlefree operation of the caster assembly of the present invention.
Abstract: A slide to be partially inserted under a floor contact portion of a heavy structure such that the structure can be easily slid a short distance. The slide is formed as a laminar assembly including a flat plate formed of an abrasion resistant lubric plastic material made of polyoxymethylene, homopolymer acetal, and a non-slip pad made of a synthetic plastic material. That portion of the plate not under the floor contact portion tends to bend upwardly so that the heavy structure slides easily over the floor while the pad keeps the heavy structure from sliding off the slide.

Abstract: An adjustable hinge has a first leaf and an adjustable leaf mounting assembly which includes a second leaf, a bracket, a cam and an adjusting screw. The second leaf is mounted on the bracket and has one end extending beyond the bracket and pivotally engaged with the first leaf. The cam is rotatably mounted on the bracket and cooperates with a cam follower surface on the second leaf. The adjusting screw has a shank threadably engaged in the second leaf intermediate its ends and has its free end abutting the bracket. In operation, the rotation of the adjusting screw pivots the one end of the second leaf relative to the bracket and the rotation of the cam moves the second leaf vertically relative to the bracket.

Abstract: A swivel caster method and apparatus including wheels rotatably coupled to a housing, wherein the wheels include a toothed cog on inner sides thereof. The housing is pivotally mounted to an article by a mounting stem having a keyed aperture. A brake lever bracket is pivotally coupled to the housing and includes a brake pin engageable with the toothed cog to prevent wheel movement relative to the housing. A swivel lever bracket is also pivotally coupled to the housing and includes a keyed shaft engageable with the keyed aperture of the mounting stem to prevent mounting stem movement relative to the housing. The brake pin of the brake lever bracket is engageable with the swivel lever bracket to pivot the swivel lever bracket to engage the keyed shaft with the keyed aperture when the brake pin is engaged with the toothed cog.
