  • Patent number: 4811500
Abstract: An athletic shoe is described including a sole and a shoe upper attached to the sole and defining a cavity for receiving a foot. The shoe upper has a lacing portion defining lace openings for a shoe lace. The shoe upper further has sidewalls with first and second openings proximate the lacing portion. A supportive sling member is disposed in the cavity and has a widened central portion intermediate opposing side quarters. The side quarters each have a narrowed strap portion adapted to pass through the first and second openings in the shoe upper and extend outwardly therefrom. Means are provided for releasably securing, in an adjustable manner, the outwardly extending narrowed strap portions of the side quarters to the shoe upper, so as to suspend the widened central portion of the sling member in the cavity to provide support to the instep areas of the foot.

  • Patent number: 4805822
Abstract: A tractor for driving web material has an endless belt which travels about spaced apart drive and idler sprockets, one of which is an entrance sprocket and the other an exit sprocket. The idler sprocket is journalled in a support member which is movable on the tractor chassis by an adjusting member to vary the spacing between the sprockets and thereby adjust the tension in the belt. The belt carries the paper over a rectilinear path between the sprockets and the chassis has upper surfaces along that path which rise prior to the exit sprocket to lift the paper on the drive pins on the belt and provide a ramp surface clearance to effect clearance of the drive pins in the perforations of the paper so that they rotate downwardly without excessive wear and friction between the web around the perforations and the surface of the pins.

  • Patent number: 4803834
Abstract: The jacket enclosing a motor driven textile spindle of the type wherein the spindle is driven by a separate motor which is mounted on a common base with the spindle is modified to include air inlet and air exit openings. The motor is located in proximity to the spindle and is coupled to it by a toothed belt or the like. As the spindle is rotated by the motor air is drawn in through the inlet opening of the spindle and exits through the exit openings in the form of a strong stream of air which blows on and cools the motor. In this manner the spindle doubles as a fan for the motor and the necessity of providing a separate fan for the motor is avoided, resulting in savings in space and energy for driving a fan.

  • Patent number: 4798009
Abstract: The spring comprises layers of resilient material connected and spaced apart by compression members. The compression members are also spaced apart and indexed so that those between one pair of layers are located opposite the spaces between the compression members between the adjacent pair of layers. Springs of various shapes and areas are cut from sheets of spring structure and the spring rates are expressed in terms of pounds per inch per square inch of spring work area. Spring rates range from 1000 to 1250 pounds per inch per square inch of spring. Work capacities range from 13 to 120 inch pounds per square inch of spring. Ratios of work capacity to weight range from about 200 for springs about 1/4 inch thick to 600 for springs 3/4 inch thick. The cavities in the springs are vented to ambient to enhance linearity and efficiency.

  • Patent number: 4796418
Abstract: Two parallel-inserted thread ends are introduced into a thread end preparation device via an air gap located above a preparation tube. The thread ends are cut by shears and thereafter an air flow produced in an air intake tube blows the thread ends into the preparation tube. The prepared thread ends are brought by retracting levers into the vicinity of the splicing chamber. The splicing chamber is provided with a cover and splicing is carried out by supplying a compressed air flow. Two thread ends are spliced together after cutting by exposing the two ends to a single air flow to prepare the ends for splicing by untwisting the ends and removing loose thread parts therefrom. The cut and prepared ends are disposed in a splicing chamber and compressed air is passed through the chamber to splice the ends together.

The apparatus comprises a truck-mounted holding tank having tank inlet and outlet ports, a portable hydraulically driven submersible pump detachably mounted on the truck, and a truck-mounted motor-driven hydraulic pump for operating the portable pump. Hydraulic fluid supply lines, wound on a truck-mounted reel, are connected between the hydraulic pump and the portable pump motor. A waste hose is wound on a truck-mounted reel, several hose sections are detachably mounted on the truck, and a portable, multi-position, manually-operable selector valve is detachably mounted on the truck. In operation, the portable pump is disposed alongside or in the septic tank and pumps a stream of pressurized fluid from the septic tank.
