Abstract: The addition of certain alkylamine substituted benzotriazole compounds to a lubricant imparts improved oxidation stability and rust inhibition to the lubricant.
Abstract: An apparatus and process of steam treating carbonaceous materials under a controlled temperature and pressure. The feed material is introduced into an autoclave or similar vessel and injected with steam at a high pressure and temperature for a controlled period of time to effect thermal restructuring of the carbonaceous material and to effect a conversion of the moisture and a portion of the volatile organic constituents therein to a gaseous phase. Water, wax and tar are recovered during this process and the water may be used as a source of pre-heating feed material in another vessel while the tar may be used as a heating source since it has a high heating value. The upgraded product is allowed to cool and then removed from the reaction vessel. The invention alternatively contemplates use of a separate pre-heating chamber for the carbonaceous feed material.
Abstract: The invention relates to the use of compounds which act as antagonists of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) at 5-HT.sub.3 receptors for the treatment of depression.
Abstract: Phosphorodithioate derivatives of oligomers of polyalphaolefins of high viscosity index for use as lubricants and lubricant additives is described.

Abstract: The addition of certain mixed ligand metal complexes and a metal thiophosphate to a lubricating oil results in a significant improvement in the anti-wear performance of the oil. Tin dithiocarbamate-ethoxyethylxanthate and zinc dialkyldithiophosphate are preferred additives.
Abstract: A dispersing agent for use in dispersing a finely divided solid powder in a nonaqueous dispersion medium and a dispersion prepared by using the dispersing agent. The dispersing agent of this invention is a low acid value lanolin fatty acid and/or a salt of the same. By means of this dispersing agent, there can be easily obtained a homogeneous and stable nonaqueous dispersion from which the incorporated solid particles will not separate out or settle even on prolonged standing. Therefore, this dispersing agent can be used advantageously in a broad range of applications such as coatings, dyes, pigments, inks, fuels, lubricating materials and so on.
Abstract: Lubricating oil compositions which contain hydrogenated diene star polymers grafted with N-vinylimidazole exhibit improved engine performance when prepared by grafting the polymer in an oil mixture containing at least 6% by weight of the star polymer. The grafting is accomplished by contacting the polymer with from about 3.0 to about 5.5 wt % N-vinylimidazole when N-vinylimidazole is the sole reactant and from about 1.0 to about 5.0 wt % N-vinylimidazole when N-vinylimidazole is used in combination with N-vinylpyrrolidone.
Abstract: This invention described phenothiazine derivatives which are N-substituted and which contain an additional sulfur molecule in the N substituent.
Abstract: The addition of a metal alkoxyalkylxanthate, a dixanthogen, and a metal thiophosphate to a lubricating oil results in a synergistic improvement in the antiwear performance of the oil. Nickel ethoxyethylxanthate, diethoxyethyl dixanthogen, and zinc dialkyldithiophosphate are particularly preferred additives.
Abstract: Lubricating oil compositions favorably used for food processing machines are disclosed.
