  • Patent number: 8862689
Abstract: The present invention provides a way to use flash memory to keep backup copies of the recently modified data. The recently modified data is stored on a local hard drive and replicated (usually with versions) on a local flash drive when the network connectivity does not exist or not sufficient. As soon as the network connectivity is established the accumulated data is sent to the remote CDP server and the whole space of the flash drive can be reused again. As a result, the data is always replicated: one data copy is stored on the hard drive and the other copy is stored (usually with versions) either on a remote server or a local flash drive. Therefore, the combination of the data on the CDP server and the flash drive can be used to reconstruct the data stored on the hard drive.

  • Patent number: 8862711
Abstract: A management server having a function of confirming status information of devices, a method of confirming status information of devices, and a device capable of providing status information. A first writer writes a status information request list necessary to confirm statuses of devices if the management server is turned on. A first communicator transmits the status information request list to the devices and receives status information response lists from the devices. A first parser parses the status information response lists. A server controller confirms statuses of the devices using parsing results. Thus, a list necessary to confirm statuses of devices can be written in an XML file, parsed, and provided to a manager.

  • Patent number: 8860811
Abstract: A system and method for the capture and storage of data relating to the movements of objects, in a specified area and enables this data to be displayed in a graphically meaningful and useful manner. Video data is collected and video metadata is generated relating to objects (persons) appearing in the video data and their movements over time. The movements of the objects are then analyzed to detect the movements within a region of interest. This detection of movement allows a user, such as a manager of a store, to make informed decisions as to the infrastructure and operation of the store. One detection method relates to the number of people that are present in a region of interest for a specified time period. A second detection method relates to the number of people that remain or dwell in a particular area for a particular time period. A third detection method determines the flow of people and the direction they take within a region of interest.

  • Patent number: 8862743
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for managing resources in a computing system. A plurality of distributed computing system resources are represented as nodes in a graph. Links between the nodes are defined, where each link in the links representing ownership or usage by a parent node of a respective resource represented by a child node. A message is sent from a source node in the graph to a target node in the graph wherein the source node is linked directly or indirectly to the target node. The message is processed by a message handler task associated with the target node, wherein processing includes allocating or deallocating a respective resource represented by the target node.

  • Patent number: 8782226
Abstract: Previously it has only been possible to allocate unique internet protocol (IP) addresses to nodes in open systems interconnection (OSI) communications networks such as those using integrated IS-IS, by manual configuration. This is time consuming and expensive because an operator must travel to the site of the node. By exploiting features of the OSI routing protocol the present invention enables IP addresses to be automatically allocated to the new network nodes. This is particularly advantageous for new intermediate systems such as optical multiplexers with integral routers. Once an IP address has been allocated, the node can be managed by a remote management system or operator using internet protocol methods.
