Patent number: 7940418Abstract: A method of compensating for a light amount drift of a photosensor used in an image control device, wherein the photosensor includes a light emitting portion and a light receiving portion which projects light onto an image control mark formed on an intermediate transfer medium of a printer and detects an optical signal reflected by the image control mark, thereby controlling the quality of an image. In the compensation method, the light amount drift is calculated by projecting light on the intermediate transfer medium, detecting an amount of light reflected by the intermediate transfer medium, and comparing the detected light amount with a pre-set reference light amount. The detected light amount is then corrected to be substantially equal to the reference light amount.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2005Date of Patent: May 10, 2011Assignee: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventor: Yoon-seop Eom

Patent number: 7936481Abstract: A high-quality monochrome photographic image is formed using a high-resolution color ink-jet recording apparatus. When a monochrome mode is selected, density signals are produced such that they include at least one density signal corresponding to a chromatic color material and a density signal corresponding to an achromatic color material and having a value greater than the value of the at least one density signal corresponding to the chromatic color material. A slight recorded color deviation that can occur when the achromatic color material is recorded on a recording medium is compensated for by adding a small amount of chromatic color material having a hue which cancels out the recorded color deviation. Thus, a high-quality gray scale image is obtained without having recorded color deviation or color transition.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 2005Date of Patent: May 3, 2011Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Akihiko Nakatani, Makoto Torigoe

Patent number: 7929161Abstract: A printing control system includes a plurality of printing units, an image source, and a system processing unit. The image source provides a print job comprising a plurality of images to the system processing unit. The system processing unit receives the plurality of images in the print job from the image source, and calculates an image histogram for each image in the print job. The system processing unit then determines the similarity of the images in the print job by comparing the calculated histograms. The system processing unit then classifies the images into classes based on the comparison, and sends the classes of images to the printing units.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 2004Date of Patent: April 19, 2011Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Yifeng Wu, Kevin R. Patent number: 7907708Abstract: In a communications network, voice and facsimile calls are established between first and second and second terminals via first and second media gateways in a communications network. Each gateway is capable of autonomous transitioning between a voice over IP (VoIP) call mode and a facsimile over IP (FoIP) call mode. A bearer path for the call is established via a media gateway controller. During call setup, the media gateways exchange confirmation of each gateway's capability to perform autonomous transitioning between VoIP and FoIP call modes. The call is established as a VoIP call, and, on a determination by the media gateways that a facsimile call is required, each media gateway autonomously transitions between its VoIP and FoIP call modes without the intervention of the media gateway controller.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2002Date of Patent: March 15, 2011Assignee: Genband US LLCInventors: Dominic Walker, Graeme Gibbs
