  • Patent number: 7864352
Abstract: A printer with an embedded multimedia server is described that includes a processor primarily allocated for print control and another processor for executing a multimedia server for interfacing with hardware and/or software interfaces for various forms of media. Examples of such interfaces include, a network interface, a VGA port, transcoding hardware, wireless interfaces and a (USB) port. Examples of types of media processed include video, audio and text. The multimedia server performs multimedia content processing, particularly for time-based data, examples of which include editing, formatting, scheduling capture of content, searching, recognition, and event detection. Additionally, the printer can provide a multimedia storage database. The printer provides a user interface on its chassis that can provide a web browser, so that a user can interact directly with the printer for indicating preferences for multimedia content processing and/or selection for printing onto a desired output medium.

  • Patent number: 7864349
Abstract: Print verification is done by scanning the printed copies, thereby forming a stream of scanned images of the specific pages. Digitized images from the stream are then spatially aligned page by page, line by line and pixel (pel) by pixel (pel) with corresponding digitized images in a stream of source images. The source and scanned images are compared to find pel sequences that are different. These differences represent defects in the printed copies.

  • Patent number: 7859713
Abstract: Whether rendering instructions include designation of a logical operation is determined. If it is determined that the rendering instructions include designation of a logical operation, then the rendering instructions are developed into multivalued bitmap data every single line of the input rendering instructions and the multivalued bitmap data is subjected to color processing and binarization processing. When the rendering instructions do not include designation of a logical operation, color processing and binarization processing is executed for every color of the rendering instructions, whereby a brush is created and stored in advance. The brush is pasted into an applicable area of the rendering instructions to achieve development into binary bitmap data.

  • Patent number: 7855809
Abstract: An image processing apparatus executes an error diffusion process to multivalue image data consisting of a plurality of density components. A first processor executes the error diffusion process by changing at least one of a quantization threshold value and a quantization diffusion coefficient which are used for the error diffusion process based on a value of the multivalue image data of the density components or a value calculated from the multivalue image data value. A second processor executes the error diffusion process by setting the quantization threshold value and the quantization diffusion coefficient which are used for the error diffusion process into fixed values. An error diffusion processing controller controls to execute the error diffusion process to at least one color among the density components by the first processor and execute the error diffusion process to other density components by the second processor.

  • Patent number: 7852495
Abstract: Confirmation sheets would be more useful if they provided status information for each service, for each destination or recipient and/or images of each page of a multi-service and/or multi-destination job. A confirmation sheet provides the status of multi-destination and/or multi-service document distribution jobs. The services that can be included in a multi-service document distribution job include sending the documents as a facsimile, scanning the documents to a file or to a file repository, e-mailing the documents to an individual or other address, and/or printing the documents. Thumbnail images of one or more pages of the multi-destination and/or multi-service job can also be included on the confirmation sheet. In various exemplary embodiments, when elements of a multi-destination or multi-service job are not completed at the time the confirmation sheet is requested, the confirmation sheet can include various structures or information usable to obtain job status at a later time.

  • Patent number: 7843601
Abstract: A method for forming a color image that allows a color image forming device to detect print chromaticity by an actually used print medium and automatically perform an optimal color balance adjustment in consideration of the chromaticity of the print medium. At a first step of the method, it is determined whether a feeder is selected for a subsequent printing operation. If selected, the process proceeds to a second step. If not selected, it is determined that the printing operation is not performed for some time and the process is completed without color balance adjustment. At the second step, a print medium for printing a test pattern is fed from the feeder selected for a subsequent printing operation, which is determined at the first step. A color sensor detects the chromaticity of the test pattern transferred and fused on the print medium, and the color balance is then adjusted.

  • Patent number: 7843597
Abstract: A method and implementing computer system are provided for enabling multiple usages of the same printing job separator page. Separator pages are scanned and an image of the separator page content is obtained in order to determine the location on the separator page of prior print job identification information blocks. The prior identification information block is then obscured and identification information for a newly queued print job is printed in a new information block which is positioned in an unused area of the separator page. The separator pages may be reused until the full extent of each separator page has been filled-up with used or obscured print job identification blocks.

  • Patent number: 7839540
Abstract: In a print server, when page setting is made, a spot color name is extracted from a comment in an image drawing command and image data or a code of a job on a page (page layout) unit basis and a list for a spot color name of each page is generated. After that, a color separating process and an RIP are performed on the page unit basis, raster data of each of colors C, M, Y, and K and corresponding raster data of a spot color name is generated, after that, on the basis of CMYK values designated by the spot color name, the raster data of the spot color is composed with the raster data of each of the colors C, M, Y, and K, and the resultant is output. In such a manner, an overprint of an object designated in a spot color can be reproduced accurately.
