Patent number: 9197175Abstract: Embodiments provide systems and methods for producing an envelope tracking (ET) PA supply voltage with minimum headroom relative to the desired RF output signal of the PA. In an embodiment, the PA supply voltage is generated by applying an ET signal to an ET path of the wireless device, and by further applying pre-emphasis to the ET signal to compensate for a frequency response of the ET path. Embodiments operate by estimating the frequency response of the ET path and determining the pre-emphasis based on the estimate of the frequency response of the ET path. In embodiments, the pre-emphasis is applied using a pre-emphasis filter, which may be within or outside of the ET path. Further, the pre-emphasis may be applied to the ET signal in digital or analog form.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2012Date of Patent: November 24, 2015Assignee: Broadcom CorporationInventors: Sriraman Dakshinamurthy, Robert Lorenz

Patent number: 9191055Abstract: Mobile devices may minimize the radiation exposure to users by controlling the distance between the user, specifically the head, and the mobile device to a minimum distance. The reduction in exposure is realized due to the operation of the Inverse Square Rule on electromagnetic signal from the mobile device recognizing there is a steep fall off of signal strength resultant from increased distance between the head of the user and the source of the signal. Embodiments increase and maintain operational distance between the user and the broadcast device to reduce signal absorption. Enabled mobile devices increase and maintain the operational distance by detecting when the distance is breached by a variety of methods and then alerting the user. Sound and electromagnetic waves may be used to determine the proximity of the mobile device to the user, in addition image processing typically resident on some mobile devices may also be used to determine proximity to the user.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2010Date of Patent: November 17, 2015Assignee: Green Swan, Inc.Inventor: Harry V. Patent number: 9178600Abstract: A packet data transmission system comprises primary stations (PS) having signal transmitting and receiving means and antennas (PA1 to PA4) for propagating downlink signals and receiving uplink signals and a plurality of secondary stations (SS) able to roam within the coverage areas of the primary stations. Each secondary station (SS1) has signal transmitting and receiving means, a predetermined number of antennas (SA1 to SA4), and means for monitoring its radio environment. Information about the radio environment is relayed as an uplink signal to the respective primary station which modifies its mode of transmission of packet data signals. The secondary station in response to the modified mode of transmission of the downlink signals adapts its receiver resources to process the packet data signals and effect cancellation of any interference.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2003Date of Patent: November 3, 2015Assignees: Koninklijke Philips N.V., Sharp CorporationInventors: Timothy J. Patent number: 9161158Abstract: Information is acquired from a geographically-distributed sensor network using a scalable wireless geocast protocol. Geographically distributed networks of unattended sensors are placed at desired locations to collect various types of information, such as, for example, environmental parameters, temperature, humidity, rainfall, heat signatures, video, audio, seismic activity, and/or wind conditions. To acquire information, a query is provided to the geographic area at which the sensors are located utilizing the geocast protocol. Delivery of the query is based on a physical location of a region in which a sensor network is located, the type of information being queried, and/or temporal conditions. Each sensor that receives a query determines if all requirements/conditions are satisfied. If so, the query is accepted and processed by the recipient sensor, and responded to accordingly. Responses to queries are provided via the geocast protocol.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2011Date of Patent: October 13, 2015Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventor: Robert J. Hall
