  • Patent number: 9053218
Abstract: A method and software interface enables selective processing of data transmissions containing one or more medication orders intended for a pharmacy. Data transmissions are monitored and parsed for prescribed information which is utilized to populate a prescribed data structure. The data structure and parsing rules can be associated with a specific source that can be determined from the data transmission. The parsed data is tested against an order database to determine suitability for automated handling. If suitable, the medication preparation system prepares the medications identified by the data. Those portions of the data that are not suited for automated handling are released (e.g., from the parser). Further verification can be performed by determining the source of the data transmission and verifying it as a valid source. Data transmissions can be monitored over a network, within a network component, or in cooperation with another software program.

  • Patent number: 9008963
Abstract: Map information distribution systems and methods store map information and version information for each road category of the map information stored in a navigation device, the version information correlated with identification information identifying the navigation device. The systems and methods receive the identification information from the navigation device and obtain, based on the received identification information, the version information for each road category of the map information stored in the navigation device corresponding to the stored identification information. The systems and methods extract, based on the obtained version information for each road category, differential data for each road category with stored map information of a latest version, and transmit the extracted differential data for each road category to the navigation device corresponding to the received identification information.

  • Patent number: 8995731
Abstract: The disclosure relates to image-based characterization of implanted medical leads used for electrical stimulation therapy. Characterization of implanted leads may include determination of lead configuration and lead orientation. The lead characterization techniques may make use of two-dimensional (2D) lead imaging in combination with known three-dimensional (3D) lead configuration data for various lead types. Lead characteristics determined from 2D lead imaging may be compared to lead dimensions calculated from known 3D lead characteristics to characterize implanted leads in terms of lead configuration and orientation. The lead characterization may be used to automatically determine or verify led configuration and orientation, and to aid in programming electrical stimulation therapy parameters.

  • Patent number: 8848998
Abstract: This invention provides an automated system and method for determining contrast media arrival in vessels near tissues of interest that have been imaged using a predetermined imaging system that produces a plurality of temporally phased images. The system and method reliably distinguishes between actual contrast arrival and potential false positives that can render basic automated techniques inoperable or unreliable. In an illustrative embodiment, the system and method for determining a contrast arrival phase in a plurality of temporal phases of a medical image dataset of tissue includes an image pre-processor or process that, for each of at least a subset of the temporal phases of the medical image dataset, with at least a subset of the signal intensity values respectively in each of the temporal phases, computes signal intensity frequency distributions.

  • Patent number: 8594399
Abstract: A method is disclosed for actuating an image output device for the output of slice images, obtained from volume data, of a tissue region including at least one hollow organ section. In at least one embodiment, tangential slice planes at observation points along at least one profile line section through the hollow organ section are determined on the basis of provided volume data. In the process, the profile line section is decomposed into shorter profile line sections such that the generated profile line sections are each situated at least approximately in a plane assigned to the respective profile line section as per a predetermined quality criterion. First tangential slice planes are each assigned to the possible observation points on the associated profile line sections on the basis of these planes.

  • Patent number: 8589179
Abstract: A hub-spoke patient information service in which a patient's data can be obtained from a network of independent data sources through a centralized service. The hub of the service stores patient identification information and the spokes store the patient's clinical data. In a preferred embodiment, the spokes are independent sources (e.g. each spoke is generally unrelated to other spokes) and include hospitals, doctor offices, clinics, insurance companies, or other entities that store or track clinical data. Preferably, the data sources use a first authentication to properly identify or authentic the service. Once access is granted, the spoke sources are queried for the patient's data. In response, each data source provides the type of patient data available from the source. The user is shown the types of data available without generally showing the actual data. The user can then select the specific patient data to retrieve from the spoke sources.

  • Patent number: 8548725
Abstract: Visual images may be used to detect, or verify the existence of, landmarks. In one example, the landmarks may be used to provide driving or walking directions. A set of records may be examined to identify the street addresses of businesses or other entities. Additionally, street-level images may be captured with a camera, and the locations at which the images were captured may be recorded. The images may be evaluated with an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) process to determine what words appear in the images. The words in the image are compared with the names of entities whose addresses are near where the image was captured. If the words match the entity name, then a sign identifying the entity is presumed to be visible along a particular route, and the entity may be used as a landmark in a set of walking or driving directions.
