  • Patent number: 9646239
Abstract: Transponders are disclosed that are configurable to operate in an HDX mode and/or an FDX-B mode and that use a switchable load impedance across the transponders' resonant antenna circuit to induce amplitude and/or frequency modulation. One embodiment of the invention includes an inductive antenna including two terminals connected to tag circuitry, where the inductive antenna forms a resonant antenna circuit tuned to resonate at the frequency of the activation signal. The tag circuitry and the resonant antenna circuitry are configurable as an oscillator, the tag circuitry is configured to be powered by electric current induced in the resonant antenna circuit, includes at least one switchable load impedance connected across the antenna resonant circuit, configured to amplitude modulate the activation signal appearing at the resonant antenna circuit terminals using a switchable load impedance, and to frequency shift key modulate the oscillator signal appearing at the resonant antenna circuit terminals.

  • Patent number: 9621535
Abstract: An electronic key system includes a mobile device and a control device. Main identification information identifying the control device is registered in the control device as registrant identification information. When the mobile device receives a response request including the registrant identification information and response timing, the mobile device compares the registrant identification information and the response timing which included in the response request with registrant identification information and response timing registered in the mobile device. When a result of the comparing is a match, the mobile device transmits the mobile device code to the control device. The control device includes a registration unit that newly generates the main identification information with different content each time a registration command is inputted, and registers the newly generated main identification information in a storage device of the control device as registrant identification information.

  • Patent number: 9607193
Abstract: A method and an identification system used for communicating between a reader and a plurality of transponders are disclosed. The reader has a transmitter for transmitting a signal and each transponder includes a receiver for receiving the reader signal and a transmitter for generating a transponder signal. When the reader recognises a transponder signal from one of the transponders it immediately issues a mute instruction, muting all other active transponders and passing control to the said transponder, without the need for a specifically timed acknowledgement to the said controlling transponder. The reader may issue a single disable/wakeup instruction which disables the controlling transponder returning control to the reader and reactivated all muted (but not disabled) transponders.

  • Patent number: 9542783
Abstract: An electronic system utilizes a method (500) for authenticating access to a multi-level secure environment. According embodiments, the system stores (501) fingerprint data for at least one authorized human user of the system. The fingerprint data for each authorized user includes copies of fingerprints for two or more fingers of the user. Some time after storing the fingerprint data, the system senses (503) one or more fingers of an individual who is attempting to use the system and compares (505) the sensed finger data to the stored fingerprint data. When at least some of the sensed finger data matches copies of fingerprints in the stored fingerprint data, the system determines (509) a quantity of matching fingerprints. The system then determines (525) a security level for the individual based on the quantity of matching fingerprints and provides access (527) to particular functionality of the system based on the determined security level.

  • Patent number: 9542212
Abstract: A compact, register-based, eight-bit virtual machine is realized on a resource-constrained device such as, for example, an IR remote control device. The IR remote control device includes a script interpreter, as well as loader API functionality and API functionality to support communication over a bidirectional link. The functionality of the remote control device is customized by loading either a machine code API routine and/or a script API routine onto the remote control device via the bidirectional link. A script is loaded via the bidirectional link and is stored in program memory. Once loaded, the script is interpreted by the virtual machine, thereby calling API functionalities provided, and thereby causing the remote control device to have a desired customized function. Providing the virtual machine on all the members of a family of remote control devices allows the same script to run on any remote control device of the family.

  • Patent number: 9495569
Abstract: A system and method to detect an event associated with a first object relative to a second object and a support is provided. The system can include an antenna at a support to receive the first object, a tag reader in communication with the antenna and a tag located on the second object. In response to detecting a change in impedance of the antenna associated with the presence of the first object, the tag reader communicates a presence signal. In response to detecting the tag within a threshold proximity of the tag reader, the tag reader generates a tag signal. A remoter server is operable to detect an association of the first and second objects based on a comparison a time associated with each of the tag signal and the presence signal, and in response then creates an output indicative of a detected event based on the association for illustration.

  • Patent number: 9477865
Abstract: A radio frequency (RF) identification (RFID) tag reading system and method accurately determine true bearings of RFID tags associated with items in a controlled area. An RFID reader has an array of antenna elements and a plurality of RF transceivers. A controller controls the transceivers by steering a primary transmit beam over the controlled area by transmitting a primary transmit signal to each tag, and steering a primary receive beam at a primary steering angle by receiving a primary receive signal from each tag. The controller thereupon steers a plurality of secondary receive offset beams at different secondary steering angles that are offset from the primary steering angle by receiving secondary receive offset signals from each tag, and by processing the offset signals to determine a true bearing for each tag.
