  • Patent number: 9749672
Abstract: An example information processing device displays a partial area of a panoramic video on a display device. The information processing device obtains range information with which it is possible to identify a display range of the panoramic video to be displayed and/or to identify a position within the display range. The obtained range information is information regarding a display range determined based on an input made on a predetermined input device while the panoramic video is played. Where the panoramic video is output using the display device, the information processing device outputs the panoramic video while changing output content thereof in accordance with the obtained range information.

  • Patent number: 9743095
Abstract: A video compression system is disclosed that is optimized to take advantage of the types of redundancies typically occurring on computer screens and the types of video loss acceptable to real time interactive computer users. It automatically adapts to a wide variety of changing network bandwidth conditions and can accommodate any video resolution and an unlimited number of colors. The disclosed video compression encoder can be implemented with either hardware or software and it compresses the source video into a series of data packets that are a fixed length of 8 bits or more. Sequences of one or more of these packets create unique encoding “commands” that can be sent over any network and easily decoded (decompressed) with either software or hardware. The commands include 3 dimensional copying (horizontal, vertical and time) and unique efficiencies for screen segments that are comprised of only two colors (such as text).

  • Patent number: 9743060
Abstract: Systems and methods for presenting and viewing a spherical video segment is provided. The spherical video segment including tag information associated with an event of interest may be obtained. The tag information may identify a point in time and a viewing angle at which the event of interest is viewable in the spherical video segment. An orientation of a two dimensional display may be determined based upon output signals of a sensor. A display field of view within the spherical video segment may be determined and presented on the display based upon the orientation of the display. The display field of view may be captured as a two dimensional video segment. If the viewing angle of the event of interest is outside the display field of view proximate the point in time, a notification may be presented within the display field of view.

  • Patent number: 9729850
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for using selective resolution reduction on images to be transmitted and/or used by a playback device are described. Prior to transmission one or more images of an environment are captured. Based on image content, motion detection and/or user input a resolution reduction operation is selected and performed. The reduced resolution image is communicated to a playback device along with information indicating a UV map corresponding to the selected resolution allocation that should be used by the playback device for rendering the communicated image. By changing the resolution allocation used and which UV map is used by the playback device different resolution allocations can be made with respect to different portions of the environment while allowing the number of pixels in transmitted images to remain constant. The playback device renders the individual images with the UV map corresponding to the resolution allocation used to generate the individual images.

  • Patent number: 9711180
Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product for producing a show. In an embodiment, the invention is directed to a production system having a first production path, a second production path, and a control system that causes the first production path to generate a show in a first aspect ratio (4:3), and that causes the second production path to generate the same show in a second aspect ratio (16:9). In another embodiment, the invention is directed to producing a show from live material and from archived material. This aspect of the invention operates by producing a first show comprising a plurality of stories, segmenting the first show, and storing the show segments in an archive. Then, the invention produces a second show using live portions as well as show segments retrieved from the archive. The invention is also directed to a media manager that interacts with a server. • Patent number: 9711186
Abstract: Dynamic buffering of streaming temporal video is disclosed. In at least one embodiment, a non-transitory memory is provided for storing machine instructions that are to be executed by a computer. The machine instructions may implement the following functions: streaming temporal video having a current incomplete segment, dynamically buffering the current incomplete segment to store data associated thereto and a current incomplete segment buffer, and receiving a first input to obtain a start time marker. A video segment may be generated including the current incomplete segment data and video data from the streaming temporal video occurring after the start time marker. The dynamic buffering may include buffering an I-frame and one or more P-frames. For example, only a most recent I-frame may be buffered and then cleared when a new I-frame is generated. The size of the dynamic buffer may be adjusted based on the size/number of P-frames and/or I-frames.

  • Patent number: 9704361
Abstract: A user may input one or more messages (e.g., visual or audio content) with respect to a projection device that is to project the messages to users within an environment. The user may additionally input related information that dictates a context and manner in which the messages are to be projected. The projection device may monitor the environment to identify users, events or actions within the environment. Upon detecting and identifying a particular user, the projection device may visually project the messages onto a surface within the environment, or may audibly output the messages within the environment, which may convey a particular meaning to that user. Optionally, the projection device may authenticate the user in order to determine that the user is the intended recipient of the messages.
