Patent number: 8978331Abstract: A plurality of pre-formed panels are provided. Each panel comprises construction boards held apart from each other by spaced apertured metal strength members (2) to form a sandwich construction. Each strength member is provided with at least one bar (10) extending beyond an edge of the construction boards. Each strength member has a bar receiving portion (63) associated with its end opposite the at least one bar. To construct a wall, a first such panel is first erected with its strength members (2) extending vertically and with the bars (10) projecting above the remainder of the panel. The void between the construction boards is then filled with a settable material. A second panel is located vertically above the first by slotting the bars of the first panel into bar receiving portions of strength members in the second panel. Thereafter, the void between the construction boards of the second panel is filled with the settable material.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 2007Date of Patent: March 17, 2015Assignee: Verteka Ltd.Inventor: Hugh Gordon Bowerman

Patent number: 8973337Abstract: A modular construction kit for erecting a building is provided. The kit comprises a plurality of base track sections, a plurality of roof receiving tracks, and a plurality of wall panels. The base track is a U-shaped channel that extends around the base of the building and maintains the lower edges of the wall panels in a linear alignment. Wall panels include male, female, and hybrid (male/female) varieties, each variety having a different tongue and groove configuration on laterally opposing ends of the panel. Each wall panel has an outer skin and an inner skin separated by two divider walls and a structural bridge, which provide structural support across two axes. The roof receiving track is affixed to the upper edges of the wall panels to provide a supporting shelf for a roof structure. Thus, the invention is an easy to assemble kit for rapidly erecting buildings.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2013Date of Patent: March 10, 2015Inventors: William Hires, Matthew Hires

Patent number: 8959872Abstract: Systems, methods, and components for the construction and disassembly of raised panel assemblies. These systems, methods, and components may include a flow-limiting structure that is configured to define at least one boundary of a channel that includes at least a portion of a gap between adjacent raised panels and is configured to receive a sealant material. The flow-limiting structure may limit a flow of the sealant material therepast, thereby decreasing an overall volume of sealant material needed for construction of the raised panel assembly and/or limiting undesired adhesion of the raised panels to other structures. These systems, methods, and components also may include an elongate disassembly aid that is configured to sever at least a portion of the sealant material from between adjacent raised panels upon removal from the raised panel assembly, such as to decrease a time needed for disassembly and/or repair of the raised panel assembly.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2013Date of Patent: February 24, 2015Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Stephen William Ayres, Ralph David Druckman, Paul Henry Allen, Scott Allen Ziemann, Michael C.
