Patent number: 4791433Abstract: In a line scan fiber optic cathode ray graphic recorder a continuous sheet of light sensitive paper is drawn perpendicularly before a regularly timed intensity modulated beam from the cathode ray tube. Due to gearing inaccuracies and anomalies, the velocity at which the paper is drawn past the beam varies cyclically resulting in a variation in the spacing between each recorded data line on the paper. For higher paper velocities, the recorded lines are closer together, and for lower paper velocities, the recorded lines are farther apart. The closer lines create a darker image band on the paper and the more distant lines create a lighter image band on the paper. The present invention includes paper velocity monitoring means which provides an input signal to a compensation circuit for inversely varying the intensity information of each pixel dot as a function of the paper velocity.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 1983Date of Patent: December 13, 1988Assignee: Tektronix, Inc.Inventor: Samuel W. Patent number: 4758706Abstract: A machine for forming parallel corrugations in a metal sheet and for welding each of these corrugations at its longitudinal end, comprises, on the metal sheet side, a bending die comprising two plates perpendicular to the metal sheet defining therebetween a space in which may be engaged a punch or knife perpendicular to the metal sheet. The bending die has, at each of its two lateral ends and on the internal faces opposite its parallel plates, a pair of bending members projecting from the internal faces of the two parallel plates of the die. These two bending members define therebetween a gap substantially equal to twice the thickness of the metal sheet. A welding torch is carried by the bending die and ensures welding of the two lips of the metal sheet in the immediate vicinity of the zone where they are nipped between the bending members.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 1986Date of Patent: July 19, 1988Inventor: Maurice Delquie

Patent number: 4654617Abstract: A remotely controlled circuit control device has first and second load contact assemblies movable into circuit engagement and circuit disengagement positions relative to one another in which one load contact assembly is operatively connected to a solenoid so that alternate forward strokes of the solenoid moves the one load contact assembly between reset and tripped positions through a push-push mechanism having an indexing portion and a latching portion. An overload mechanism cooperates with the latch portion to cause the load contact assemblies to move to the circuit disengaged position upon occurrence of a fault condition. The second load contact assembly includes pivotably mounted contact members which are linked to the first load contact assembly in such a way that circuit engagement during solenoid energization is precluded.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 1985Date of Patent: March 31, 1987Assignee: Texas Instruments IncorporatedInventors: Aime J. Patent number: 4539538Abstract: A molded case circuit breaker includes a movable upper electrical contact having a base portion with a slot formed therein for releasably receiving a portion of an elongated spring biased locking pin disposed in a rotatable cross bar of an operating mechanism of the circuit breaker. The locking pin is biased in the slot by a pair of tension springs secured to the cross bar, enabling the upper electrical contact to move in unison with the cross bar. Upon the occurrence of a high level short circuit or fault current of sufficient magnitude, the pin is displaced from the slot enabling the independent rotational movement of the upper contact arm. During such movement, an elongated leaf spring is downwardly deflected and then released by the base portion. Subsequently, the upper electrical contact is prevented from contacting the lower electrical contact by the engagement of the leaf spring with the base portion.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 1983Date of Patent: September 3, 1985Assignee: Westinghouse Electric Corp.Inventors: Robert H. Patent number: 4524339Abstract: A pair of toggle links in a high amperage molded case circuit breaker are driven over center in response to the discharge of a closing spring for pivoting a plurality of blades and closing the breaker contacts. A latch link pivotally connected to the upper toggle link also is engaged by a pivotable latch along an arcuate surface on the latch so that shock forces are transmitted along a radial line of the latch for minimizing inadvertent rotational forces on the latch. The latch release force is rendered dependent on the spring force exerted through the links from the blade overtravel springs and the coefficient of friction of the latch arcuate surface. The force exerted through the links is controlled by an adjustable stop having an inclined surface engaging the pivot connection between the toggle links. Large movements of the stop provide small changes in the inclined surface position relative the pivot connection to provide small changes in the overcenter position.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 1983Date of Patent: June 18, 1985Assignee: Square D CompanyInventor: Ferdinand E. Patent number: 4439658Abstract: The disclosure relates to the production by means of an electrical resistance welding method, of grids formed from metal wires crossing over another. The grid wires are carried through between rows of cooperating electrodes and, under pressure, are welded together at the cross points of the wires by an electric current. Each cross point of the wires and the surfaces of the associated electrodes of the grid welding machine, which lie in the welding region, are subjected to the action of a liquid coolant to increase the life of the electrodes and reduce distortion of the grid due to the localized heating of the wires.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 1981Date of Patent: March 27, 1984Assignee: EVG Entwicklungs-und Verwertungs Gesellschaft m.b.H.Inventors: Gerhard Schmidt, Klaus Ritter, Gerhard Ritter, Hans Gott, Josef Ritter

Patent number: 4430579Abstract: An electrical switching device having an actuator reciprocable between two extreme positions, the switch being open and closed, respectively, when the actuator is in its two extreme positions. An electrical operator, such as a solenoid having a movable armature, responds to successive momentary energizations by moving the actuator first to one extreme position and then the other. The actuator is mechanically held in each extreme position by a spring-biased element which also serves to transmit movement of the actuator to the switch contacts. The actuator may have a cam surface shaped to cause opening and closing of the switch contacts, the cam surface also cooperating with the spring-biased element for urging the actuator toward each of its extreme positions. The switching device may be used for interrupting electric power to a customer of a utility by being located between a watt-hour meter and the customer's load, or in other similar applications.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 1982Date of Patent: February 7, 1984Assignee: Automatic Switch CompanyInventor: Dominik M.
