Patent number: 9866475Abstract: The present invention is directed towards forwarding network packets in a cluster network. A predetermined identifier may be inserted into a Media Access Control (MAC) ID field of an Ethernet header of a packet to distinguish various types of traffic. Newly received packets may be identified due to the absence of the identifier. The identifier may be added to the source MAC ID field of the Ethernet header of the packet, and the packet may be distributed to cluster nodes for processing via an inter-node communication bus. Thus, received packets with the identifier in the source MAC ID field may be identified as steered for processing by an internal node of the cluster. After processing the packet, the internal node may transmit the processed packets via the inter-node bus with a destination MAC ID including the identifier.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2012Date of Patent: January 9, 2018Assignee: Citrix Systems, Inc.Inventors: Abhishek Chauhan, Henk Bots, Sandhya Gopinath

Patent number: 9729662Abstract: A network node can use reputation values to determine when to forego validating a cached Content Object's authenticity. During operation, the network node can receive an Interest over a Content Centric Network (CCN). If the Content Store includes a matching Content Object that satisfies the Interest, the node obtains the cached Content Object. The node then determines whether the Interest includes a validation token that is to be used to validate the Content Object's authenticity. If so, the node determines a reputation value for the Content Object, such that the reputation value indicates a likelihood that validation of the Content Object's authenticity will be successful. If the network node determines that the reputation value exceeds a predetermined threshold, the node returns the Content Object without validating the Content Object's authenticity.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2014Date of Patent: August 8, 2017Assignee: CISCO TECHNOLOGY, INC.Inventors: Priya Mahadevan, Glenn C. Patent number: 9703606Abstract: Detecting a workflow termination. An object with embedded access control is sent to a next participant in a workflow, wherein the embedded access control is provided and enforced by placing a subset of access keys for individual content-parts into a unique key-map entry for each participant, wherein the object is a Publicly Posted Composite Document. A workflow termination is detected after failure to receive a confirmation token from the next participant after a specified condition is not met.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 2012Date of Patent: July 11, 2017Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Helen Y Balinsky, Liqun Chen, Steven J Simske

Patent number: 9639582Abstract: A computer receives a request from a client application for data within an enterprise grid. The computer sends the data along with a program to monitor the application's use of the data. The computer subsequently receives from the program a subset of the data being utilized by the client application. Responsive to a subsequent request for the data, the computer sends to the client application only the data corresponding to the identified subset of data being utilized.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 2012Date of Patent: May 2, 2017Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Dustin K. Patent number: 9445155Abstract: A user selects a content item that he wishes to send. He then performs a gesture to specify a direction toward which the content item is to be sent. For example, he pretends to “throw” his portable communications device toward the West. To receive the content item, potential recipients also make gestures that specify receiving directions. For example, a recipient pretends to “catch” a ball thrown from the East. If the sending and receiving directions are compatible, then the content item is sent from the sender's device to the recipient's device. Enhancements to the basic scheme described above can be made to, for example, specify a dispersion angle for the sending or receiving directions or to include other restrictions so that, for example, only intended recipients can receive the content even if other potential recipients are in the specified sending direction and make appropriate receiving gestures.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 2013Date of Patent: September 13, 2016Assignee: Google Technology Holdings LLCInventors: Alex G. Patent number: 9374337Abstract: While each node in a cluster of nodes sources connections with the same IP if each node allocates a port on this IP independently, there may be port clashes. Also, the return traffic is not guaranteed to hit the originating node. These issues are addressed by allocating a port in such a way that the response traffic hashes back to the originating node. A good hash is chosen such that the ports are equally divided among the nodes. When a node leaves, the other nodes take over the port range used by this node. When a node joins, the node takes back its share of ports.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2012Date of Patent: June 21, 2016Assignee: CITRIX SYSTEMS, INC.Inventors: Vivekanand Rangaraman, Ranjith Nath, Sandhya Gopinath, Abhishek Chauhan
