Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer programs are presented for reducing latency for providing a user feed containing one or more posts. One method includes operations for receiving a request to access the user feed and for performing a first query to search posts. The first query uses a first time horizon delimiting a creation time of posts and a first maximum number of posts selected for ranking. The posts from the first query are sent to the client device for presentation on a user interface. Further, a second query is performed to search posts, where the second query uses a second time horizon that is greater than the first time horizon and a second maximum number of posts for ranking that is greater than the first maximum number of posts. The posts from the first query and the second query are merged and sent to the client device for presentation.

Abstract: Techniques for reducing CPU consumption in a federated search are disclosed. In some example embodiments, a computer-implemented method comprises determining an initial search scope by selecting a subset of searchable resources from a plurality of searchable resources based on interaction data of a user, with the initial search scope being defined by the selected subset of searchable resources, and the interaction data indicating online activity of the user directed towards past search results of past search queries submitted by the user. A federated search for a current search query is then performed using the initial search scope, with the federated search for the current search query being restricted to only the subset of searchable resources, and current search results for the current search query are generated based on the performing of the federated search.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure provide for cleansing data generated by one or more servers in response to database interactions resulting from an automated software robot interacting with the one or more servers via a telecommunications network. Log entries in usage logs corresponding to events during a session can be analyzed to determine relationships between events and the usage logs can be classified based on the relationships as either corresponding to human behavior or automated software robot behavior. Usage logs corresponding to automated software robot behavior can be removed from further analysis.

Abstract: In some examples, a system converts a virtual volume from a first volume type to a second volume type without modifying the virtual volume, the converting comprising accessing a source metadata associated with the virtual volume, the source metadata including information for the first volume type, and generating a destination metadata associated with the virtual volume, the destination metadata including information for the second volume type. While the virtual volume is being converted from the first volume type to the second volume type, the system processes a write operation that accesses a portion of the virtual volume and changes data in the accessed portion of the virtual volume.

Abstract: Systems and methods for generating and/or deploying an accurate, interactive, screener web page are provided. A method may include receiving a modular framework question including a subject field that is initialized in an empty state. The method may include filling the empty subject field with a subject text to create a completed question. The method may include transmitting the completed question as part of the interactive screener web page to a survey participant; receiving, as input to the interactive screener web page, a response to the completed question; generating, in real-time, a response score based on the response; and routing the survey participant to an on-line survey when the response score satisfies a predetermined threshold response score, and routing the survey participant away from the on-line survey when the response score fails to satisfy the predetermined threshold response score.

Abstract: Provided is a search system which is configured to search for a registered vector being similar to an input vector among a plurality of registered vectors, on the basis of a degree of similarity between an input vector and a registered vector. The search system includes a partial similarity calculation unit that calculates a degree of partial similarity which is the degree of similarity concerning some of one or more dimensions of the input vector and the registered vector, a limit calculation unit that calculates, on the basis of the degree of partial similarity, an upper limit of the degree of similarity that is expected when the degree of similarity is calculated, and a rejection decision unit that decides, on the basis of the upper limit of the degree of similarity, whether or not to reject the registered vector from a candidate for a search result.

Abstract: A replicated database can be provisioned that provides primary and secondary replicas that can be provisioned in different data zones or geographical locations. The database can be installed on the primary replica, and both the primary and secondary replica can have installed a block level replication mechanism that allows any I/O operation to be replicated by between the primary and secondary replicas. Any failure or outage of the primary replica can be addressed by performing a failover operation to the secondary replica. A DNS name or other such approach can be used such that the name can be aliased to the secondary replica during a failover, such that there is no action needed on the part of the customer to utilize the “new” primary replica. The creation of the database and provisioning of the replicated instance can be initiated using a Web service call to a control environment.

Abstract: Approaches for indexing and comparing charts are described. A system can receive one or more charts, which may include depictions of signals, and index portions of a chart using a sliding window algorithm. Subsequently, a system can receive a query that can be compared to the indexed portions of one or more charts. After a comparison, the most similar portions of the compared charts are provided based on a nearest neighbour search.

Abstract: Described herein are technologies that facilitate effective use (e.g., indexing and searching) of non-text machine data (e.g., audio/visual data) with text-based indexes of an event-based machine-data intake and query system.

Abstract: Parameter-based deployment control for database objects is provided, in which processes for deploying database artifacts into a database as database objects are implemented. Many different techniques may be used in executing such deployment processes, including whether and how to combine various deployment-related jobs, identify/record/assess/correct potential errors, govern or instruct artifact conversion operations, or generally manage available resources with respect to executing the deployment(s) efficiently. By providing for selectable parameter values that are executed in an efficient, e.g., hierarchical, manner, deployment procedures may be implemented in a highly efficient and customizable manner.

Abstract: In response to a search query received from a client, a content item is identified from a content database based on one or more keywords associated with the search query. In addition, a search is performed in an image store to identify a list of image candidates based on one or more keywords associated with the search query. An image is selected from the list of image candidates using an image selection algorithm. Metadata associated with the content provider is inscribed onto the selected image to generate a customized image. The customized image is integrated with the content item to generate a composite content item such as a poster. As a result, the content represented by the composite content item is closely tied to the content provider. The composite content item is then transmitted to the client.

Abstract: Data storage operations, including content-indexing, containerized deduplication, and policy-driven storage, are performed within a cloud environment. The systems support a variety of clients and cloud storage sites that may connect to the system in a cloud environment that requires data transfer over wide area networks, such as the Internet, which may have appreciable latency and/or packet loss, using various network protocols, including HTTP and FTP. Methods are disclosed for content indexing data stored within a cloud environment to facilitate later searching, including collaborative searching. Methods are also disclosed for performing containerized deduplication to reduce the strain on a system namespace, effectuate cost savings, etc. Methods are disclosed for identifying suitable storage locations, including suitable cloud storage sites, for data files subject to a storage policy.

Abstract: Systems and methods to identify a filter set in a keyword query are described. The system receives a query from a client machine. The system identifies filter sets based on the query and a based on rules. The filter sets include a first filter set that includes a first filter. The rules are utilized to associate at the least one keyword from the query to the first filter. The system further scores the filter sets based on probabilities to generate scores. The probabilities describe occurrences of attribute-value pairs in listings that respectively describe items that were previously transacted on a network-based marketplace. The system further identifies the first filter set from the filter sets based on the scores, generates a user interface including search results that are identified based on the identified first filter set, and communicates the user interface, over the network, to the client machine.

Abstract: System and method for interacting with a plurality of data sources are provided. A request may be parsed and an identification parameter identifying a data set may be determined. A field included in the request may be designated as a distribution key. At least one data source may be selected based on a value associated with the distribution key. The method includes recording a plurality of entities by denoting a plurality of attributes about the plurality of entities via a plurality of labels comprising a plurality of data sets. A plurality of connection conditions between the plurality of data sets are determined, the plurality of connection conditions comprising a plurality of weight conditions. The plurality of weight conditions are reduced based on a probability function. The plurality of data sets are separated into a plurality of data subsets based on the plurality of weight conditions of the plurality of connection conditions to identify particular attributes of the plurality of data subsets, and the particular attributes of the plurality of subsets are transmitted.

Abstract: A system architecture for linking one or more derived objects to existing data objects in a data structure can be organized in a variety of forms. A method for establishing the architecture may include linking first and second data objects. The first data object may include a first plurality of properties, and the second data object may include a second plurality of properties. At least one of the second plurality of properties may be based on the first plurality of properties. The method may further include receiving, by a computer, a user limitation of a property type that is associated with the at least one of the second plurality of properties. The method may include deriving, based on the user limitation, a new object that includes a third plurality of properties. The third plurality of properties may include a subset of one or more of the first and second pluralities of properties. The new object may be linked to the first and second data objects.

Abstract: An apparatus includes an interface and a processor. The interface sends and receives data over a network. The processor uses the interface to transmit a first series of profiles to a first user that includes recommended profiles for a second user. The processor uses the interface to receive a selection from the first user of a profile corresponding to a third user. The processor uses the interface to transmit a second series of profiles to the third user that includes recommended profiles for the third user. The processor uses the interface to receive a selection from the third user of a profile corresponding to the second user. In response to receiving the selection from the first user of the profile corresponding to the third user and the selection from the third user of the profile corresponding to the second user, the processor enables communication between the second and third users.
