  • Patent number: 4880362
Abstract: A rotor of an electric motor with a spherical magnetic gap or an impeller which forms a pivotably mounted rotating unit with an armature consists of a permanent magnetic annular member which is arranged juxtaposedly to a second stationary permanent magnetic annular member. The two magnets are spaced apart from each other by an air-gap and remain apart from each other because of their polarity. This prevents tumbling and counteracts the hydraulic thrust to prevent liftoff of the rotating unit from the step bearing.

  • Patent number: 4878813
Abstract: A vacuum pump producing ultra high vacua has a housing containing a first set of rotor blades provided around a first rotor for producing ultra high vacua and a second set of rotor blades provided around a second rotor for producing low to high vacua wherein the first rotor and the second rotor are magnetically suspended during pump operation. The first rotor is disconnected from the second rotor during pump operation in a low to high vacuum range, and it is connected with the second rotor as the pump operation shifts from a high vacuum range to an ultra high vacuum range. Because of this feature, the pump operation ranging from a low vacuum range up to an ultra high vacuum range can be performed by a single pump.

  • Patent number: 4874300
Abstract: A step bearing with spherical gliding surfaces having a stationary mounted ceramic ball mounted on a strut, on which a magnetic rotor with a concave cap is rotating under working conditions. During operation the rotor with the cap is pressed by magnetic thrust in the direction toward the strut, while a second annular bearing member of the rotor prevents axial movement of the cap when axial forces in the direction opposite to the direction of the magnetic forces become higher than the magnetic forces.

  • Patent number: 4871300
Abstract: This invention relates to an insert freely displaceable in a coil spring that at opposite ends abut against spring support formed in a motor compressor unit capsule and a spring support formed by a stator plate. The spring supports project into the opposite ends of the spring to extend toward one another. The opposite ends of the insert are recessed to be of shapes generally corresponding to the adjacent parts of the supports. The insert serves as a transport abutment and permits lateral movement without excessively deforming of the spring.

  • Patent number: 4869654
Abstract: A magnetic pump drive comprises an isolating shell which is structured in the form of a stepped cylinder having at least one step for creating at least two cylindrical sections of different diameters. The efficiency of the power transmission of a driver carrying permanent magnets through the isolating shell onto a rotor also carrying permanent magnets is maintained in comparison with the efficiency of known devices, but the strength and form stability of the isolating shell is drastically improved. The strength against high system pressures is based on the steps which may comprise slipped-over rings or comprise integral reinforcement rings which act like barrel hoops.

  • Patent number: 4869650
Abstract: The present invention provides a pump by vessel oscillation including a vessel having an inlet for liquid and an outlet opening in a specific tangential direction of an outer peripheral portion thereof. The vessel is oscillated in a specific direction to outflow the liquid through the outlet opening. Accordingly, the liquid in the interior of the vessel undergoes a simple centrifugal motion and when the pump is used for a blood circulation device such as an artificial heart or assisted circulation device, the blood is completely shut off from outside and isolated from entry of various germs, air, foreign matter, etc. The pump is simple in construction and excellent in reliability and durability.

  • Patent number: 4869653
Abstract: A compact, relatively low cost twin piston pump (20) especially adapted for the pumping of foods (e.g. juices, puddings or particulates such as stews and chilies) is provided which includes quick detach yoke and clevis assemblies (108, 124, 110, 126) connecting the reciprocable pistons (100, 102) with their associated hydraulic cylinders (116, 118), thereby permitting quick cleanup of the machine (20). A jacking screw plate (136) is used for forward mounting of the piston and cylinder assemblies (84, 86, 116, 118) coupled with the sleeves (42, 44) and associated pistons (100, 102). This permits precise adjustment of the working components of the machine, while eliminating expensive bearings and heavy ducy framing members. The pump (20) is also provided with a slide plate-type valve (38, 184) for controlling output of product from the pump (20). In one valve embodiment (184) a two-part metallic slide plate assembly (192, 200) is sandwiched between a pair of apertured nylon plates (186).

  • Patent number: 4863357
Abstract: Rotary positive displacement machine for a compressible working fluid comprising two tapered, internally intermeshing members (26, 28) with eccentric axes (48, 50). The members (26, 28) have spiral grooves (34, 38) and intervening lands (36, 40) which cooperate to form closed chambers (66) varying in volume while moving axially from one end to the other. The inner member (28) has a hypocyclic movement in relation to the outer member (26). The radial depth of the grooves (34, 38) varies axially along the members (26, 28) and in each transverse plane is equal to twice the eccentricity of the axes (48, 50) of the members (26, 28) and the pitch angle of the spiral at the pitch cone varies continuously in the axial direction.

  • Patent number: 4861241
Abstract: Apparatus by which a check valve assembly of a reciprocating pump can be removed. A valve stem of the valve assembly is received within a valve guide which is mounted in a valve guide bracket. The bracket is pivotally attached to a yoke. The yoke is removably fastened to an adaptor. The adaptor is seated in an access port arranged perpendicular respective to the passageway within which the valve seat is mounted. The compressive force of the valve spring maintains the bracket and yoke in assembled configuration respective to the adaptor. The bracket and yoke can be pivoted apart, against the spring force, and removed through the adaptor and then the adaptor can be removed from the access port, thereby gaining access to the remainder of the valve assembly.

  • Patent number: 4861240
Abstract: The pump comprises a pump body and a volute, mutually complementary with respect to one another, which once assembled form a waterproof container within which a permanent magnet rotor and an impeller are contained respectively in a first and in a second chamber. The stator part of the electric motor is provided externally to said waterproof container, and thus can never be affected by the liquid. The introduced improvements relate to the coupling between impeller and rotor and to the means adapted to make the rotor chamber waterproof, so that there cannot enter therein foreign matter, and in particular metallic dust, which by remaining associated with the permanent magnet of the rotor would prevent the rotation thereof, blocking its operation.

  • Patent number: 4859152
Abstract: An air pump includes a housing body containing an electromagnetic drive mechanism for oscillating a pair of diaphragms. The diaphragms define variable volume chambers, the chambers communicating with suction and discharge ports for establishing an air flow in response to diaphragm oscillation. The drive mechanism comprises coils defining an air gap and a permanent magnet type actuator reciprocably mounted in the air gap. The top of the housing body is open to enable the actuator to be visually inspected for proper alignment within the air gap. A cover is installed over the open top of the housing body with the actuator properly installed in the air gap. The cover contains air passages communicating with the suction and discharge ports. The weight of the diaphragm can be altered to achieve a desired resonance frequency tuned to the frequency of the electrical current.
