  • Patent number: 8010563
Abstract: The presentation of information in HTML files is desirably enhanced by the use of one or more separate scripting Javascript™ files, referenced from the HTML file, which uses information presented as variables in the HTML file. In this manner, a high degree of formatting flexibility can be achieved, while reducing the likelihood of errors in the HTML pages, improving ease of site maintenance, and standardizing the “look and feel” of the site. Improvements in the network bandwidth required to browse sites organized in this manner can also be achieved in favorable instances.

  • Patent number: 7991759
Abstract: When a retrieval keyword that requires contents is transmitted to a server, the server retrieves contents from a database based on the retrieval keyword, and generates page information including retrieved list information of contents, and appending information that displays whether or not the page information is provided with a consecutive reproduction function of making a terminal device consecutively reproduce part of contents included in the list information respectively to the page information, and transmits the page information. The terminal device displays a list of contents on a display unit based on the page information, and displays an icon in case the list is provided with the consecutive reproduction function to demonstrate that the consecutive reproduction is possible.

  • Patent number: 7966296
Abstract: Provided are a storage system, a storage controller and a data compression method that will not deteriorate the performance of a storage system by adjusting the compression processing time required for compressing data. This storage controller includes a statistical information management unit for managing a throughput value decided based on statistical information of previously compressed file data as a system performance value, a mode setting unit for setting a compression mode of either a system performance priority mode that terminates compression of the file data and gives priority to system performance or a compression priority mode that gives priority to compression of the file data based on a comparison between a system performance target value preset as a target value and the system performance value, and a compression controller for compressing the file data based on the compression mode set with the mode setting unit.

  • Patent number: 7937407
Abstract: The present invention provides an access control method of controlling acceptance or rejection of access to content from metadata. The access control method according to the present invention includes a step of producing metadata 3A for content 6A and embedding a digital signature 4A of a producer who has produced the metadata as producer information in the produced metadata 3A, a step of embedding an identifier 5A indicating which metadata are accessible to the content in license information required to play back the content 6A, and an access propriety control step of comparing the digital signature 4A with the identifier 5A to control propriety of access to the content 6A from the produced metadata 3A.

  • Patent number: 7930291
Abstract: Constraint processing for a relational database generates primary (e.g., based on primary key values) and constraint index records (e.g., based on foreign key values) during table load operations that are then sorted in a manner that rapidly and unambiguously identifies rows that fail the specified constraint test. Rows so identified may be deleted to maintain the constraint (e.g., referential) integrity of a child table. In one case, child table row data may be processed in constraint key order, eliminating the need first load the child table with row data and then delete those rows that subsequently fail the integrity test.

  • Patent number: 7921086
Abstract: Deterministic space management queries are answered in a deduplication context. A block subkey data structure comprises a subkey (a subset of the bits of a corresponding hash key identifying a block) and refcount (an indication of the total number of objects that reference a given block) for each block in a deduplication store. For each object, an object subkey data structure is maintained. An object subkey data structure comprises a list of subkeys corresponding to blocks referenced by that object. To answer a space management query concerning a given object set, a corresponding object set subkey data structure is created, comprising an entry for each block referenced by at least one object in the object set. Each entry comprises a subkey identifying that block and an object set refcount for that block. The data structures are utilized to efficiently answer space management queries.

  • Patent number: 7908241
Abstract: A data processing system (20) including a unit (29) producing data elements; data processing members (21) for processing the data elements; and a first data-base (22). A user is provided with at least a part of the content of the data element and the option of selecting the name information of at least one subscriber. The system fetches the address of the subscriber in the telecommunications system; generates metadata based on the address information; and attaches it to the data element. The attachment of person-based metadata to data elements becomes easier, and the processing of metadata during storage is improved.

  • Patent number: 7882059
Abstract: To smoothly reproduce data. A clip generation section 104 generates a clip information file that describes attribute information of each piece of essence data that are necessary to reproduce each piece of essence data generated by a data generation section 103 according to parameter information supplied from an information obtainment section 102. An index file update section 105 generates in an index file read from an optical disc 17 and stored in a RAM a clip element that describes attribute information of a clip necessary to reproduce the clip according to the parameter information supplied from the information obtainment section 102 and updates the index file. The present invention can be applied to a video program creation support system.

  • Patent number: 7877365
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for rendering published documents tamper evident. Embodiments render classes of documents tamper evident with cryptographic level security or detect tampering, where such security was previously unavailable, for example, documents printed using common printers without special paper or ink. Embodiments enable proving the date of document content without the need for expensive third party archival, including documents held, since their creation, entirely in secrecy or in untrustworthy environments, such as on easily-altered, publicly-accessible internet sites. Embodiments can extend, by many years, the useful life of currently-trusted integrity verification algorithms, such as hash functions, even when applied to binary executable files. Embodiments can efficiently identify whether multiple document versions are substantially similar, even if they are not identical, thus potentially reducing storage space requirements.

  • Patent number: 7870093
Abstract: The data up to a point of time whereat failure has occurred will be restored at high speed at a remote site without imposing any burden on a host. The first storage system on the master side processes an I/O request from the host, and as a result of I/O processing to the second storage system on the remote side, transmits the update data. The second storage system retains data received from the first storage system as update log data. The host transmits a command for settling a state of an application to the first storage system as data, and the first storage system transmits the data to the second storage system. The host and the second storage system both retain an identifier corresponding to the command, and relate the identifier to the log data. Thereby, the host designates the identifier at any given time, whereby the second storage system restores the data at any given time.

  • Patent number: 7865501
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for retrieving specified data content derived from recorded speech. An embodiment comprises converting a compressed audio file comprising recorded speech into a corresponding text file divided into multiple segments having unique identifiers. An index constructed from the text file comprises index elements, each associated with particular information in a text file segment. The index is searched to detect one or more text segments, each containing at least some of the specified content. Identifiers of respective detected segments are then used to locate the specified content in the audio file. Only portions of the audio file that contain specified content require decompression, in order to retrieve the content.

  • Patent number: 7849054
Abstract: A method and system creates and maintains a version-specific attribute or property that is stored as part of a file in a file system, contains specific version information relating to how or when the attribute was created and is automatically invalidated when a predetermined “update” event occurs. Third party applications generally create and access these versions-specific attributes to thereby eliminate the need for external logs or databases to store persistent state information.

  • Patent number: 7840553
Abstract: Systems, methods, computer-readable media and other embodiments are provided that relate to processing database queries. In one embodiment, a query analysis logic can be configured to analyze a query to identify multiple instances of the same table. Instance numbering for the multiple table instances can then be performed using the query structure such that equivalent queries will likely get the same instance number assignments to improve materialized view recommendations for queries.

  • Patent number: 7801878
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of matching a data record with a reference record. The method includes receiving a data record; searching stored reference records for a reference record that is an exact match for the received data record; and, if an exact matching reference record is not found, calculating a distance between the received data record and at least one stored reference record, and determining the at least one stored reference record to be an approximate match, if the calculated distance is less than a pre-determined threshold. The inventive method and system can be used for, but not limited to, invoice processing in an Accounts Payable system, record conciliation in a securities trading system, finding preferred bonds in a bond trading system. Approximate matching records are ranked, and the closest match, or highest ranking match, may be automatically processed, if within a predetermined threshold.
