Abstract: An apparatus wearable by a user for automatically contacting a public safety access point (PSAP) is disclosed. The wearable apparatus includes several sensors for obtaining datasets. One of datasets is a location of a user. The wearable apparatus also includes a cellular transceiver. The cellular transceiver transmits the datasets to a cloud computing system, receives a classification of the datasets as a user state from the cloud computing system, and contacts a safety access point (PSAP) (e.g., 9-1-1 emergency services, an automated emergency call center, etc.) based on the location of the user.

  • Patent number: 9426685
Abstract: A UE, in an idle mode, receives pilot signals and synchronization signals from a serving cell and neighbor cells comprising neighbor cells listed and/or unlisted in a neighboring cell list. The UE validates each of the serving cell, the listed neighbor cells and the unlisted neighbor cells from the received signals. The UE performs cell measurement on the listed cells as well as the unlisted cells for multipath profiles and associated power levels. In instances where number of attempts of the cell measurements on the unlisted cells exceeds a threshold value, the UE may validate presence of the unlisted cells. The best available cell is selected from the listed cells and the unlisted for the UE to camp on. I/Q samples of the received signals are stored while measuring or monitoring the cells. The stored I/Q samples may be utilized to carry out baseband procedures through offline processing.

  • Patent number: 9413864
Abstract: A telephone device and a method and for controlling a mute function in the telephone device. While the mute function is active, voice recognition software in the telephone device processes sound detected by a microphone in the telephone device to recognize and identify one or more specific words as having been spoken by a specific person and not by another person, and in response, the telephone device activates an alarm in the telephone device to communicate that the mute function is active. The voice recognition software was trained, prior to the sound having been detected, to differentiate the one or more specific words spoken by the specific person from the same one or more specific words spoken by other people.

  • Patent number: 9414209
Abstract: Using components such as intermediate short message service centers and active subscriber identity systems, it is possible to deliver a message to a subscriber at a number different from the number which was entered by the message's sender at the time the message was sent. These components can also be used to deliver the message in the event that the sender is unavailable at the time the message is originally sent. Communications between components can be performed in a variety of manners, including using proprietary IP protocols, and the components can be configured to take responsibility for retrying message delivery by providing a delivery confirmation once the message reaches them, rather than providing delivery confirmation once it reaches its ultimate recipient.
