  • Patent number: 5007134
Abstract: In bathroom doors which open inwards, it is impossible to remove the door if an obstruction such as a person disabled or laying against the door prevents the door from opening. This invention will permit the door to be removed instantly without destroying the door or the frame and causing possible injuries. This can be done with the door knob locked or unlocked from the outside of the bathroom.

  • Patent number: 4907736
Abstract: An improved method of forming a filamentary reinforced article includes forming a preform of metal and filament layers by winding material around an axis. The resulting layered preform is enclosed in a fluid tight housing. The housing has a rigid frame which bounds the periphery of the preform. The housing also has flexible panel sections which extend inwardly from the frame across the preform. To bond the layers of the preform together and increase the density of the preform, the housing is subjected to a hot isostatic pressing operation. During the hot isostatic pressing operation, fluid pressure forces against the housing plastically deform the panel sections of the housing inwardly in a direction parallel to the axis around which the layers of the preform were wound to apply axial deformation forces to opposite sides of the preform.

  • Patent number: 4864685
Abstract: A brass stair bracket to fasten down oriented rugs/carpets edges on stairways. The bracket will reduce side-to-side movement of the rug, and it will reduce stress on carpet tack/staples as well as add to the decor. The new one-piece construction will aid installation and add sturdiness which will improve wear of the bracket. Since the bracket is installed near the crease of the stair, it should reduce any downward slipping of the carpet also.

  • Patent number: 4864684
Abstract: A reusable device for connecting hose or tubing to a hole in the panel of machines, vacuum motors, and the like, that can be installed and removed by hand. Installation requires no special skill, tools, or panel preparation, and does not alter the panel in any way. Once installed, hose or tubing can be clamped onto the device by a conventional way. The device consists of three interlocking parts assembled in the order in which they are presented in FIG. 1. Part A is a flexible tubular body with a flange (11) at one end and a slotted section (17) along its length. When the body is squeezed together the diameter of the flange (11) is reduced, allowing it to pass through the hole in the panel. Once inserted into the hole, and the pressure released, the diameter of the flange (11) expands. The flange, once again larger than the diameter of the hole, secures the tubular body in the panel. Part B is an insert that fits into the slotted section (17) of Part A and completes the tubular shape of Part A.

  • Patent number: 4864688
Abstract: A hinge structure includes two sections, each of which incorporates a flange structure attached to a cylindrical pin holding part. The pin is secured in one of the cylindrical parts and the other cylindrical part removably receives the pin. The flange structures for attaching the hinge to a door and to a door jamb include parts of L-shaped cross section extending tangentially from the cylindrical parts with the attaching flanges either forming part of the outboard section or forming part of an additional L-shaped part attached to the outboard edges of the first L-shaped parts. One embodiment includes an additional bend for attachment to a grooved or notched door jamb. Another embodiment includes an elongated rod with eyebolts affixed in grooves near its ends for attachment to a jamb and having flanges located adjacent the eyebolts for attachment to the door. This embodiment leaves the decorated rod exposed along the height of the door.

  • Patent number: 4854009
Abstract: A removable door hinge for motor vehicle doors including two hinge portions to be fastened to the motor vehicle body and the motor vehicle door, respectively. The hinge portions have eye portions defining eye bores. When the hinge is assembled, the eye portions mesh with each other and a hinge pin extends through the eye bores. The two hinge portions are secured against unintentional separation over the permissible pivoting range of the hinge by means of meshing projections and recesses arranged alternatingly on the hinge portions. The hinge pin is divided into two bolt-like halves which are each non-rotatably fastened in an eye portion of one of the hinge portions. A recess serving for the hinge against unintentional separation is provided in the hinge portion to be fixed to the door immediately adjacent the upper eye portion of this hinge portion.

  • Patent number: 4850079
Abstract: Disclosed is a grip-enhancing device for a shaft handle which includes a grip portion generally coaxial with the shaft and sized to be grasped generally around its longitudinal axis by the palm and fingers of a user's hand. The grip-enhancing improvement comprises a rigid first portion extending substantially radially outwardly from the grip portion and presenting a surface positioned to bear against an edge of the user's hand. The surface has a cross-section which is spaced radially from and extends obliquely with respect to the longitudinal axis of the grip portion. A rigid second portion extends from the first portion in a direction oblique to the longitudinal axis of the grip portion and toward the user's wrist. The grip portion, the first portion and the second portion define a gap in which the user's hand is partially captured, thereby preventing axial and lateral slipping of the hand from the handle and reducing fatigue to the user.

  • Patent number: 4847950
Abstract: The assembly comprises two, snap-together pieces which, following their clinched or latched engagement, are freely rotatable relative to each other. One of the two pieces comprises a sleeve which has an inner annular land, and the other of the two pieces comprises a rod having flexible extending fingers which terminate in outwardly-directed, land-engaging and latching lugs. The rod is slid into the sleeve, with the lug-ended fingers entering first, and, consequently, the fingers are resiliently forced inwardly until the lugs reach the land. Then the fingers spring outwardly while the lugs latch onto the land. This latching together of the pieces requires no tools.

  • Patent number: 4847948
Abstract: A hinge for connecting two relatively movable components of a piece of furniture has a housing which is mounted on one of the components and a carrier which is mounted on the other component. A link bar pivotally connects the housing to a hinge arm which is secured to a quick-mounting plate via a fastening screw. The fastening screw passes through a slotted hole of the hinge arm so that the latter can be moved longitudinally relative to the quick-mounting plate when the fastening screw is loosened. An adjusting screw is threaded into the hinge arm and allows the inclination of the hinge arm relative to the quick-mounting plate to be adjusted. One end of the quick-mounting plate is provided with a pivotable arresting member for rapidly locking the quick-mounting plate to, and rapidly releasing it from, the carrier. The arresting member has a lip which engages a projection of the carrier in the locked condition. A cover is provided for the hinge arm and is designed to overlie the fastening and adjusting screws.
