  • Patent number: 4329749
Abstract: Device for making comb honey. A novel section is provided for the making of comb honey together with a novel arrangement thereof in a super whereby the sections combine into a single unit a number of presently used separate components, namely the section perimeter, the foundation, spacers, the separator, the package, and a serving platter. Specifically, a comb forming section is provided with the foundation at the bottom thereof which foundation is backed by suitably sloped spacing portion for cooperation with an adjacently positioned section and legs also cooperating with an adjacently positioned section to effect appropriate spacing of same. The section with its foundation at the bottom of the section perimeter and legs fixed adjacent thereto may, after filling of same by the bees, then further function as a serving dish.

  • Patent number: 4328819
Abstract: A hand-held vibrating nail trimmer which facilitates the management of finger or toe nails. The trimmer contains a small electric motor which vibrates a serrated blade placed on top of the nail. The vibratory action of the blade penetrates the relatively brittle surface of the nail, thereby trimming the nail. Because of the flexible nature of the underlying skin and tissue, it will move in unison with the blade and therefore resist being damaged.

  • Patent number: 4328818
Abstract: A domestic hair dryer comprises an axisymetrical casing of circular cross section, the rear part of which forms a tubular grip, housing an electric switch and cable connection. The front part of the casing is enlarged in the form of an ellipsoid or prolate spheroid with its front end cut off to form an air outlet. This front end also contains a connector for attaching a hollow hair brush. The spherical front part contains an electric motor with an axial fan impeller mounted on its shaft positioned so as to rotate in its widest portion. In front of the impeller a heating element is fastened inside the casing, which element is in the shape of a hollow cylindrical cage formed by air guide vanes; these are alternately connected at their opposite ends to form an electric circuit in zigzag shape. The cage is of an inner diameter similar to that of the air outlet and is fastened at its front end adjacent this outlet.

  • Patent number: 4324263
Abstract: Compositions and methods for curling hair and for straightening hair are disclosed, wherein the compositions contain, as the principal active ingredient thereof, guanidine hydroxide. The guanidine hydroxide may be conveniently prepared by reacting calcium hydroxide and guanidine carbonate.Hair is curled by contacting the hair with the composition while the hair is on curlers, or otherwise maintained in a curled configuration. After the desired treatment time, the hair is rinsed and neutralized, with long lasting curls of the so-called "permanent wave" nature resulting.Hair may be straightened by contacting the hair with the composition and maintaining the hair in a generally straight configuration over at least a portion of the time that the hair is contacted by the composition. Thereafter the hair may be rinsed and neutralized.

  • Patent number: 4323085
Abstract: An apparatus for treating (e.g. dyeing) hair, utilizing a treatment liquid which is a mixture of several components, has a cylindrical container with an open end to which an attachment with a hollow comb structure for the discharge of the liquid mixture is threadedly secured. The discharge is effected by the release of a spring-loaded piston inside the container from a retracted position. To mix the several components, a perforated disc may be axially reciprocated in the container between the piston head and the attachment; the disc may have a stem passing through the hollow piston rod to the outside and terminating in a manipulating knob which in one embodiment may be rotated relatively to the piston into a position wherein the perforations of the disc are aligned with similar perforations of the piston head so that mixing is accomplished by joint reciprocation of that head and the disc.

  • Patent number: 4321934
Abstract: A gas lighter provides a power source for a curling device, such as a curling iron or styling wand. The lighter is positioned and releasably retained in the hollow handle, in a first position. When the gas lighter is inserted further into the hollow handle in a second position, a valve actuating lever of the gas lighter is depressed to initiate fuel flow. Concomitantly, a flint wheel of the gas lighter is engaged and turned to cause the fuel to ignite. The lighter is held in place by a gripping position of a bi-metal member. When the temperature of a barrel of the curling device exceeds a predetermined amount, the gripping portion of the bi-metal member releases its hold on the gas lighter, and the lighter is allowed to return to the first position. In a preferred embodiment, the curling device is provided with a hair clip, which when raised from a hair winding portion of the barrel, trips the bi-metal member to release the gas lighter from the second position.
