  • Patent number: 3937130
Abstract: A low friction seal assembly for a fluid energy translating device seals a pair of pressure fluid chambers from one another. The assembly is mounted in a movable member of the device and has an elastic member which mechanically and hydraulically biases a seal member into engagement with the walls of the device.

  • Patent number: 3935707
Abstract: A hydraulic control system includes a generating circuit for providing power to a work function. A driving apparatus operates the generating circuit. A control circuit is connected to the generating circuit and the driving apparatus for permitting delivery of power to the work function when the driving apparatus is operating up to a predetermined speed. The control circuit also stops delivery of power to the work function when the driving apparatus runs above the predetermined speed.

  • Patent number: 3936235
Abstract: The invention relates to a fuel oil supply assembly of the type having a magnetic pump and an armature for driving a pump element or piston which is a part of a resilient oscillatory system. A flow restricting pressure regulating vlave in the delivery line is itself regulated in a manner such that the stroke of the oscillatory system is automatically adjusted so that only the exact quantity of oil required by the nozzle is delivered. The intermittent delivery movement inherent in the oscillatory system is thus made smoother by a damping of the oscillations which results from the piston being caused to travel over only a fraction of its maximum stroke.

  • Patent number: 3935796
Abstract: A hydraulic pumping apparatus including a cylindrical housing member having an open upper end closed by a cover held in place by a snap ring. A rotor is rotatably supported in the housing and in turn supports a plurality of pistons which are parallel to the axis of rotation of the rotor. The novelty resides in the swash plate assembly which includes an off-the-shelf bearing comprising two parallel plates with all bearings sandwiched therebetween with one of the plates engaging the pistons. An integral plastic ring member is disposed within the annular opening of the upper thrust plate of the bearing assembly and includes trunnions extending laterally in opposite directions for disposition in grooves in the cover member for changing the angle of inclination of the bearing assembly. An adjustment member extends through the cover for engaging the upper thrust plate of the bearing assembly to change the angle of the inclination thereof.

  • Patent number: 3934967
Abstract: A refrigeration compressor including a sealed housing with a stationary cylinder block having an annular array of axial cylinders, pistons reciprocable in the cylinders, a rotatable cam for reciprocating the pistons, an annular inlet channel around the cylinder block, intake valving for admitting fluid from the inlet channel to the cylinders on the intake strokes of the pistons, outlet valving for discharging high pressure fluid from the cylinders on the compression strokes of the pistons, and a baffle mounted on the end of the cylinder block over the outlet valving.

  • Patent number: 3932067
Abstract: Apparatus used in the field of liquid chromatography. There is disclosed pump apparatus for continuously delivering a flow of carrier liquid either at a constant rate of flow or at a constant pressure. The pump apparatus includes a pair of differential-piston pressure intensifiers which are sequentially operated so that the high-pressure sides of the pressure intensifiers sequentially supply carrier liquid to the chromatograph column. Each pressure intensifier is sequentially operated by a constant-rate of flow application of hydraulic liquid, with essentially pulseless operating transition between pressure intensifiers occurring during constant-pressure application of hydraulic liquid to both of the pressure intensifiers at a pressure measured during previous constant-volume hydraulic operation. An embodiment of the pump apparatus pumps plural carrier liquids in desired fixed or variable proportions.

  • Patent number: 3930758
Abstract: A six-cylinder swash plate air conditioning compressor having reciprocal double-acting pistons within a swash plate chamber positioned centrally between axially spaced front and rear cylinder blocks having intermediate suction and discharge gas crossover passageways in the cylinder blocks. The swash plate chamber provides a crankcase for receiving lubricant returned from the front head suction chamber by means of piston blow-by during the compression stroke of the pistons. The suction pressure in the crankcase is at a higher level than the pressue in the suction gas crossover passageway while being at a lower level than the pressure in the cylinder head gas discharge chamber creating the necessary positive pressure gradient to circulate the lubricant internally within the compressor.
