Abstract: A printing apparatus in which a controller controls an image forming unit. When a cover sheet is a first type of sheet, a normal image is formed on the cover sheet after forming the image on a body sheet and the cover sheet is conveyed to a saddle finisher without reversing the cover sheet. When the cover sheet has a higher transparency than the first type of sheet and is able to be reversed, a mirror image is formed on the cover sheet after forming the image on the body sheet. When the cover sheet is a third type of sheet having a higher transparency than the first type of sheet and is not able to be reversed by the reversing mechanism, a normal image is formed on the cover sheet after forming the image on the body sheet and the cover sheet on which the normal image has been formed is conveyed to the saddle finisher without reversing the cover sheet.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an application on a framework, that is separated into a core logic portion handling basic processing and a user interface frame portion handling rendering processing and operates; and a controller that executes the application and the framework. The core logic portion is implemented with an application programming interface defined by the framework. The application includes plural applications including a specific application, and a core logic portion of the specific application is implemented with a starter programming interface, displays a start screen, and displays a contingency screen in a case where an error occurs in another application.

Abstract: A server is connected to an image forming apparatus in such a manner that communication is possible, the image forming apparatus forming an image in accordance with image-quality adjustment information that is set therein. The server includes a setting-information creating unit that creates, from the image-quality adjustment information including setting information and status information, the image-quality adjustment information having been set in a machine to be replaced, and from status information in image-quality adjustment information that has been set in the image forming apparatus that is an adjustment target, setting information to be included in the image-quality adjustment information of the image forming apparatus; and a communication processing unit that transmits the created setting information to be included in the image-quality adjustment information of the image forming apparatus to be set in the image forming apparatus.

Abstract: A mobile terminal transmits a document file to a conversion server. In a case where it is determined that an image forming apparatus is capable of acquiring from the conversion server print data acquired by converting the document file, information for acquisition of the print data from the conversion server by the image forming apparatus is transmitted to the image forming apparatus. In a case where it is determined that the image forming apparatus is not capable of acquiring the print data from the conversion server, the print data is acquired from the conversion server and transmitted to the image forming apparatus.

Abstract: An image reading apparatus capable of recognizing edge portions of an original image with precision is provided. The image reading apparatus uses an image reading unit to scan an original being conveyed and read an image of the original. The image reading apparatus includes an edge information obtaining unit and an edge determining unit. The edge information obtaining unit detects an image of an edge portion of the original image and obtains, for each point in a main scanning direction, edge information, which indicates whether or not an edge portion image is detected at the point in a sub-scanning direction. The edge determining unit conducts detection from at least one of two directions of the main scanning direction to detect a point where a given number of successive edge portion images are detected, and obtains an edge portion based on the detected point.

The method involves receiving a notification indicating that execution of a print job at a first printing device failed. The method also involves displaying a network printing device map on a display unit in response to receiving the notification. The network printing device map is a graphical representation of a network topology of a plurality of printing devices within a local network. The method further involves receiving an input gesture indicative of a selection of a second printing device of the plurality of printing devices with which to execute the print job. Additionally, the method involves causing the first printing device to transmit the print job to the second printing device upon receiving the input gesture.

The old image data has partial positioning mark data corresponding to a portion of a positioning mark of a document, and partial main image data corresponding to a partial main image of a portion of a main image of the document. The processor electrically connected to the receiving port shifts the partial main image by a calibration distance in a calibration direction to a standard position of a typesetting page according to the partial positioning mark data and the partial main image data, and adds a predetermined image to one side or neighboring two sides of the partial main image to generate new image data.
