  • Patent number: 11157668
Abstract: A method of determining a life defining quantity of a production component manufactured by an additive manufacturing process. The method includes the step of defining a plurality of components to be manufactured by an additive manufacturing technique. The plurality of components has a first test piece and a first production component. The method further includes manufacturing the components in the same manufacturing batch using an additive manufacturing process and with nominally the same material composition and build parameters. A characteristic mechanical property of the first test piece is then determined. The method further includes determining a value of a life defining quantity of the first production component as a function of the first test piece characteristic mechanical property. The first production component and first test piece are then provided with indicators which associate the first production component with the determined life defining quantity.

  • Patent number: 11157058
Abstract: An electronic device detects ambient contextual data and positioning data such as orientation and motion to determine an activity state of the electronic device. A controller sets a polling interval of an open/closed position sensor that is connected to a movable portion connected to a base to detect an open/closed event. In response to determining a first activity state, controller sets a first polling interval that mitigates power consumption. In response to determining a second activity state, the controller sets the polling interval to a second polling interval that is shorter than the first polling interval to reduce latency in detecting the open/closed event.

  • Patent number: 11144040
Abstract: A computer program includes data defining tool paths for manufacturing a component. The component geometry is estimated based on the program. Deviation of a first type is estimated as deviation between the estimated geometry and geometry of the component as defined by a 3D model. Deviation of a second type is estimated, based on machining process characteristics indicated by sensor data captured during manufacturing of the component, as deviation between a tool path a machine is instructed via the program to provide and an actual tool path provided by the machine. Deviation of a third type is computed as deviation between geometry defined by the 3D model and measured geometry of the manufactured component. An error propagation model is updated based on the estimated and computed deviations for multiple components. The error propagation model approximates relations between deviations of the first and second type and deviations of the third type.

  • Patent number: 11131936
Abstract: Methods of measuring variation across multiple instances of a pattern on a substrate or substrates after a step in a device manufacturing process are disclosed. In one arrangement, data representing a set of images is received. Each image represents a different instance of the pattern, wherein the pattern includes a plurality of pattern elements. The set of images are registered relative to each other to superimpose the instances of the pattern. The registration includes applying different weightings to two or more of the plurality of pattern elements, wherein the weightings control the extent to which each pattern element contributes to the registration of the set of images and each weighting is based on an expected variation of the pattern element to which the weighting is applied. Variation in the pattern is measured using the registered set of images.
