  • Patent number: 10574056
Abstract: A system and method for control of dispatchable resources on an electrical power distribution grid is disclosed. The disclosed method provides improved response to power imbalance based on a communications signal independent of system frequency. The communication signal provides a feed-forward control of dispatchable power resources. A communications network is employed to generate a signal to dispatchable resources that a power imbalance has occurred. Due to fast response power transmission network interfaces associated with the dispatchable resources, the respective resources respond in significantly less time than feedback controlled conventional generators which depend on line frequency sensing. The rapid response mitigates the impact of power imbalances and enables greater penetrations of converter-interfaced power generation units such as renewable energy sources to be connected to the grid.

  • Patent number: 10551887
Abstract: A control device for fan state includes fan connectors arranged on a substrate and connected with at least one fan. The substrate and the fan are arranged in a case of a computer. The substrate is provided with at least one communication port, at least one microphone and a microcontroller. The communication port receives temperature signals transmitted by the computer. The microphone receives volume signals within the case. A microcontroller is electrically connected with the fan connectors, the communication port and the microphone. After the microcontroller receives the temperature signal and the volume signal, the microcontroller uses them to determine whether a value of the temperature signal or the volume signal is larger than its given value. If the answer is yes, the microcontroller controls a rotational speed of the fan, turns off the fan, or provides control items displayed on a screen of the computer to choose.

  • Patent number: 10545476
Abstract: A method of self-balancing a plurality of mechanical components within a temperature control unit of an HVAC system. Each mechanical component is adjustable by the controller to vary airflow within the temperature control unit. For each mechanical components, a property is measured. An estimated condition of the mechanical component is calculated based on the measured property and known qualities of the temperature control unit. A desired condition for the mechanical component is determined based on a desired air condition within the HVAC system or building envelope. The estimated condition of the mechanical component is compared to the desired condition of the component. The condition of the mechanical component is changed using a controller to more closely align the estimated condition to the desired condition to achieve the desired indoor air condition. Steps are repeated until the difference between the estimated condition and desired condition is within a threshold value.

  • Patent number: 10456984
Abstract: A closed-loop adaptive material deposition apparatus and method uses a scanning system to monitor an additively manufactured object as it is being fabricated and adapting the geometric shape and material composition of the subsequent layers based on the scan data. The scanning system repeatedly captures geometric and/or material information of a partially manufactured object with optional auxiliary objects inserted during the manufacturing process. Based on this information, the actual surface geometry and/or actual material composition is computed. Surface geometry may be offset and used as a slicing surface for the next portion of the digital model. The shape of the slicing surface may then be recomputed each time the system scans the partially fabricated object.
