  • Patent number: 8364804
Abstract: Method, system and computer program product for communicating information regarding a managed resource in a network data processing system. A method, in a network data processing system, for communicating information regarding a managed resource includes receiving management information regarding at least one managed resource. The received management information is converted into a specified format, and the converted management information is then sent to at least one management application in conjunction with the sending of presence information to the at least one management application. The converted management information may then be extracted from the presence information for use in any desired manner. The invention provides a convenient mechanism for communicating status information and other appropriate information regarding a managed resource to interested parties connected to the network data processing system.

  • Patent number: 8364848
Abstract: Disclosed is a scalable, hierarchical, distributed network architecture and processes for the delivery of high-performance, end-to-end online multimedia services, including Internet services such as World Wide Web access. The network architecture connects a high-speed private backbone to multiple network access points of the Internet, to a network operation center, to a back office system, and to multiple regional servers in regional data centers. Each of the regional servers connects to several caching servers in modified head-ends, which in turn connect via fiber optics to many neighborhood nodes. Finally, each node connects via coaxial cable to multiple end-user systems. The processes include those for replicating and caching frequently-accessed content, and multicasting content customized per region or locality.

  • Patent number: 8335848
Abstract: Network data associated with a network session is captured at a first location. The network data includes, but is not limited to, web page data transmitted over a network between a web server and a user terminal. User interface events associated with the same network session are separately captured at a second user terminal location. The user interface events include, but are not limited to, user inputs for interacting with the web page data. Both the captured network data and the separately captured user interface events are then used for analyzing the network session.

  • Patent number: 8335815
Abstract: The present invention provides methods and systems for automating data transactions in a CLEC interface model. A computer-implemented method for provisioning trunk circuit orders is provided with an interne interface to a computing device to exchange information. A trunk order issued by a first organization is received at the computing device. A first notification of the trunk order is sent to a second organization. A confirmation in response to the trunk order is received at the computing device. A common interface is provided for information exchange. Processing time is decreased for modifying, creating, and deleting trunk circuits in a telecommunications network. Records are maintained and automatically cataloged with time and date-stamps to keep a history for reference.

  • Patent number: 8332485
Abstract: Approaches are disclosed for lock optimization and lock prediction for reducing the number of client-server messages involved in working with server-based resources. First one or more lock requests for first one or more locks on a remote data resource that is linked by a slow communication link are received. Based on the first one or more lock requests, a sequence of lock requests for locks on the remote data resource is determined. A first message that includes the sequence of lock requests is sent. A second message is received. The second message includes second one or more locks on the remote data resource, where the second one or more locks correspond to second one or more lock requests of the sequence of lock requests. A particular lock of the second one or more locks is granted in response to receiving a particular lock request for the particular lock on the remote data resource.

  • Patent number: 8332458
Abstract: A method for distributed computing includes processing multiple sets of data at respective computing nodes (24), and calculating respective local values of one or more statistical parameters characterizing the sets of the data. A global condition is defined, such that the condition is violated when a function defined over a weighted average of the respective local values crosses a predetermined threshold. The global condition is separated into a plurality of local constraints, which include a respective local constraint to be evaluated by each of the nodes based on the respective local values, such that violation of the respective local constraint in at least one of the nodes indicates a violation of the global condition. The local constraint is evaluated independently at each of the nodes. When at least one of the nodes detects that the respective local constraint is violated, an indication that the global condition has been violated is produced.

  • Patent number: 8332531
Abstract: A number of improvements in network adapters that offload protocol processing from the host processor are provided. Specifically, mechanisms for handling memory management and optimization within a system utilizing an offload network adapter are provided. The memory management mechanism permits both buffered sending and receiving of data as well as zero-copy sending and receiving of data. In addition, the memory management mechanism permits grouping of DMA buffers that can be shared among specified connections based on any number of attributes. The memory management mechanism further permits partial send and receive buffer operation, delaying of DMA requests so that they may be communicated to the host system in bulk, and expedited transfer of data to the host system.

  • Patent number: 8327008
Abstract: This present invention relates to a method for using hypervisors to enable stable wireless network connections. The crux of the invention involves pushing the control of the networking devices from the Operating System level down to a networking front end hypervisor level. The hypervisor will control all networking devices, the authentication for these devices, and the selection of which connection to use. The hypervisor will also perform Network Address Translation (NAT) to the Operating System. Thus, the Operating System will receive a single, private IP address for use with the Operating System's applications. The hypervisor will handle the change of the IP address when roaming between networks and hide it from the Operating System through the use of the NAT.

  • Patent number: 8321556
Abstract: A method of storing collected data on a wireless device. User interaction with a wireless device and/or the performance of the wireless device is monitored and data related thereto collected. The collected data may be structured into a tagged hierarchical structure comprising a plurality of events that are separate and independent from one another. Each event may describe a specific application with a plurality of attributes. The tagged hierarchical structure formed as a tree structure is translated into a syntax generic language. The result may be formed into a compact format using a zipped format and/or a binary-equivalent format and then stored and transmitted to a central location (e.g., a server) for statistical analysis processing. The server transforms the received data into expanded format and forms a hierarchical tree structure for each event and its attributes. The result is processed for producing a statistical analysis of the collected data.

  • Patent number: 8314832
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for generating stereoscopic images for a user based on one or more images captured by one or more scene-facing cameras or detectors and the position of the user's eyes or other parts relative to a component of the system as determined from one or more images captured by one or more user-facing detectors. The image captured by the scene-facing detector is modified based on the user's eye or other position. The resulting image represents the scene as seen from the perspective of the eye of the user. The resulting image may be further modified by augmenting the image with additional images, graphics, or other data. Stereoscopic mechanisms may also be adjusted or configured based on the location or the user's eyes or other parts.

  • Patent number: 8312152
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system are disclosed for reassigning a network address. A detection module detects a routing table change for a host. The host is in communication with a least one network. A client is also in communication with the host over a network interface using a first address. A generation module generates a second address for the client. The second address does not compete with other addresses on the at least one network. An interface module disables the network interface to the client. The interface module then enables the network interface between the client and the host. A communication module receives a request for a new address from the client. The communication module assigns the second address to the client.

  • Patent number: 8307088
Abstract: A content delivery network is enhanced to provide for delivery of cacheable markup language content files such as HTML. To support HTML delivery, the content provider provides the CDNSP with an association of the content provider's domain name (e.g., www.customer.com) to an origin server domain name (e.g., html.customer.com) at which one or more default HTML files are published and hosted. The CDNSP provides its customer with a CDNSP-specific domain name. The content provider, or an entity on its behalf, then implements DNS entry aliasing (e.g., a CNAME of the host to the CDNSP-specific domain) so that domain name requests for the host cue the CDN DNS request routing mechanism. This mechanism then identifies a best content server to respond to a request directed to the customer's domain.
