  • Patent number: 7945642
Abstract: A method and system for triggering installation of program logic on a machine, such as a PC. A server transmits installation-trigger logic to a wireless communication device (WCD), which the WCD stores in its data storage. When the WCD becomes connected with a PC, the PC views the WCD as a mass-storage drive, and the PC reads and executes the installation-trigger logic in the same manner that a PC would run an AUTORUN file on a conventional mass-storage drive. Per the installation-trigger logic, the PC then downloads and installs a designated software program. The PC then sends an installation-notice to the server, and the server responsively sends a cancellation-message to the WCD. In response to the cancellation-message, the WCD then deletes or otherwise disables the installation-trigger logic, so that the process will not be repeated the next time the WCD is connected with the PC.

  • Patent number: 7941550
Abstract: A method, system, and computer readable media are provided for managing multiple HTTP cookies that are present in a wireless communication system. When a secure or non-secure HTTP cookie is formed, a time of creation for that HTTP cookie is also created as part of the cookie header. Therefore, when a wireless device makes a subsequent communication to a web based server, the gateway compares the creation time for multiple HTTP cookies that are present, and only forwards the most recently created HTTP cookie to the web based server. This avoids invalidating a session as a result of receiving multiple conflicting HTTP cookies from the same wireless device.

  • Patent number: 7941561
Abstract: A system and method for formatted inter-node communications over a computer network comprises a transmitting node transmitting a message in a format acceptable to the receiving node. Message templates are created by the receiving node and then stored in a repository accessible by both the transmitting node and the receiving node. The message templates are identified by a digital ID tag and comprise a pattern of labeled fields visible to the transmitting node and accessible for message input by the transmitting node. When the transmitting nodes wishes to send a message only those templates acceptable to the receiving node will be available to the transmitting node.

  • Patent number: 7925723
Abstract: A system and method for collaboratively providing configurations for a media environment are provided. In general, configuration events from a number of media environments are collected and provided to a Collaborative Configuration System (CCS) server. Based on the configuration events, the CCS server generates and provides recommended configurations to a media environment. The recommended configurations may be generated prior to or after receiving a request for recommended configurations from the media environment. In one embodiment, the recommended configurations are provided as a recommended configuration profile providing a set of configurations to be applied at the media environment. In another embodiment, the recommended configurations are provided as a CCS track associated with a particular media presentation. The CCS track includes configuration changes to be applied to the media environment for a number of time slices of the media presentation during playback of the media presentation.

  • Patent number: 7912912
Abstract: The present invention is an information communication terminal having a function of displaying, together with a received mail list, part or all of a message of a received mail in the selected state in the preview. The information communication terminal includes: a judgment unit judging whether all of the message of the received mail in the selected state fits in a predetermined area for the preview display; and an update unit performing an update in the case when the judgment is affirmative so that information indicating whether the received mail has already been read indicates that it has already been read.

  • Patent number: 7912907
Abstract: A similarity measurement manager uses n-gram analysis to identify spam email messages. The similarity measurement manager tokenizing an email message into a plurality of overlapping n-grams, wherein n is large enough to identify uniqueness of artifacts. The similarity measurement manager employs feature selection by comparing the created n-grams to n-grams of known artifacts which were created according to the same methodology. Created n-grams that match an n-gram of a known artifact are ignored. The similarity measurement manager compares the remaining created n-grams to pluralities of n-grams of known spam email messages, the n-grams of the known spam email messages being themselves created by executing the same steps. The similarity measurement manager determines whether the email message comprises spam based on whether or not the n-gram comparison indicates that it is substantially similar to a known spam email message.

  • Patent number: 7908346
Abstract: A mechanism is provided for sending a plurality of requests to a server. A set of calls is received in a client from a set of client applications. Each call is for a request to be sent to the server and each call comprises a plurality of parameters. For each call, the client determines whether there is a request identifier in the plurality of parameters. Responsive to the call including the request identifier, the client creates a request using the plurality of parameters. The client sends the request to the server via a request connection. The client then determines whether an acknowledgement that indicates that the server has received the request has been received from the server. Responsive to receiving the acknowledgement, the client processes a next call in the set of calls.

  • Patent number: 7904517
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods that facilitate securing communication channels used in a challenge-response system to mitigate spammer intrusion or deception. The systems and methods make use of unique IDs that can be added to outbound messages originating from a sender, a recipient, and a third-party server. The IDs can be correlated according to the relevant parties. Thus, for example, a sender can add a signed ID to an outgoing message. A challenge sent back to the sender for that particular message can echo the same ID or a new ID derived from the original ID to allow a sender to verify that the challenge corresponds to an actual message. The IDs can include cookies as well to facilitate correlation of messages and to facilitate the retrieval of messages once a sender is determined to be legitimate.

  • Patent number: 7895278
Abstract: An initial distribution list is dynamically modified using criteria determined from the current entries in the list. After an originator generates a distribution list and prior to submission of the message to entries on the generated list, the method of the present invention examines the entries in the created distribution list. From this list, the invention identifies features of the entries. From these features, the method generates criteria that can be used to generate additional entries that may be included in the list. In one approach, the generated criteria are presented to the user for review and approval. If the originator approves the criteria, the generated list is modified to add additional entries to the distribution based on the generated criteria. If the originator rejects the criteria, the initially generated list is submitted and the message is sent to the entries on the initial list.

  • Patent number: 7895274
Abstract: A display displays a capture mode displaying source image data and a send mode displaying processed image data, which is to be sent. The display simultaneously displays, upon a switch from the capture mode to the send mode, the processed image data and a manipulation. The manipulation includes pixel values of the source image data and dummy values. An input inputs an address of a terminal to which the processed image data is to be transmitted. A transmitter transmits an address of a terminal together with the processed image data over a network to a server such that the server executes a processing for providing the processed image data to the terminal. An image data processor determines an image processing capacity of the terminal and converts an image size of the source image data such that the processed image data is commensurate with the image processing capacity of the terminal.

  • Patent number: 7895279
Abstract: A threaded list of e-mail messages is provided by checking each received message against previous messages to determine whether the new message is associated with previous messages. If so, then a new thread is created. The new thread has an associated thread header, which stores metadata bout the messages in the thread. If the received message is related to messages in an existing thread, then the received message is added to that thread, and the thread header for that thread is updated to reflect data from the received message. The thread header appears with messages in a message list view of the inbox, and provides data about the thread. Messages that are not part of a thread are shown in the same view as threaded messages, without a thread header. This allows a user to view both threaded and non-threaded messages in a single view.
