  • Patent number: 7992897
Abstract: To enhance an occupant restraining force of an airbag, and to improve a protective function for an occupant of an airbag device by discharging gas without fail regardless of a position of the occupant, an airbag (10) is divided into a first chamber (10A) on an inflator (2) side and a second chamber (10B) on an occupant side by a partition wall (11), and the first chamber (10A) includes an opening (23) to which a discharge-state switching member (30) having vent holes to discharge the gas in the airbag (10) and being switchable between the discharge/non-discharge states is attached. The discharge-state switching member (30) is coupled to the partition wall (11) by a tether belt (40), so that the tether belt (40) applies tension to close the vent holes when the airbag (10) inflates, and when the airbag (10) receives an occupant, releases the tension depending on the position of the receipt, and opens the vent holes.

  • Patent number: 7988194
Abstract: An airbag apparatus for protecting an occupant of a vehicle comprises an inflatable chamber formed by at least one fabric panel and configured to be filled with an inflation gas and deploy into position to protect the occupant; and a tether connected to the panel to restrain deployment of the airbag. During the initial deployment sequence of the airbag, the tether fully extends to a first length. The tether unfolds in order to fully extend to a second length when a sufficient force is applied to the tether by the deploying airbag.

  • Patent number: 7988190
Abstract: Method and system for controlling inflation of an airbag in a vehicle which protects an occupant from injury in a crash involving the vehicle includes sensing a crash involving the vehicle for which deployment of the airbag is desired, inflating the airbag to protect the occupant in the crash involving the vehicle upon sensing of the crash, incorporating an accelerometer in a seatbelt worn by the occupant, and adjusting the continued inflation of the airbag after contact of the airbag with the occupant based on the acceleration sensed by the accelerometer. The accelerometer may be arranged to determine movement or acceleration of the seatbelt which can be correlated to contact between the airbag and the seatbelt, i.e., based on changes in the measured acceleration of the seatbelt arising from contact of the airbag with the seatbelt.

  • Patent number: 7980593
Abstract: A passenger airbag module equipped with an airbag cushion and a tether holder used in a vehicle. The tether holder holds a tether prior to inflating the airbag cushion and inhibits twisting of the tether during deployment of the tether when the airbag cushion is inflated. When the tether is deployed without being twisted or folded, the deployment length of the tether is not reduced. Thus, the airbag is more consistently deployed and inflated.

  • Patent number: 7976029
Abstract: A trailer having a frame movable between a raised position, suitable for towing of the airplane on a roadway, and a lowered position, allowing the airplane wheels to be in contact with a common surface with the trailer wheels when the trailer is under the airplane. A hitch assembly, suitable for towing the trailer in a closed position with the frame in the raised position, is coupled to the front of the frame. The open position allows the airplane to be loaded/unloaded on land from the front of the frame when the frame is in the lowered position. The airplane may be loaded/unloaded from the rear of the frame when the airplane trailer is placed in water. Also, a method of loading the airplane onto the trailer from the rear in water and unloading the airplane from the front on land.

  • Patent number: 7959167
Abstract: Even when bending stress acts on a steering gearbox 1 about attachment holes 161 and 171 of vehicle attachment boss portions 16 and 17, deformation of the vehicle attachment boss portions 16 and 17 in both the longitudinal direction and the vertical direction of the vehicle becomes small since rigidity with respect to deformation in the vicinity of the vehicle attachment boss portions 16 and 17 in both the longitudinal direction and the vertical direction of the vehicle is large due to a first rib 61 to a fourth rib 64. Accordingly, it is possible to improve steering stability at the time a steering reaction force occurs.

  • Patent number: 7946600
Abstract: In a torsion beam wheel suspension system, a stabilizer bush made of resilient material is received in a hollow interior of a torsion beam that connect intermediate points of a pair of trailing arms, and retains an intermediate part of the stabilizer to the torsion beam. A bracket including a pair of vertical walls opposing lateral sides of the stabilizer bush is attached to a part of the torsion beam to prevent the lateral shifting of the stabilizer bush without any part of the bracket or stabilizer bush restraining the torsional deformation of the stabilizer or torsion beam. The vertical walls may be spaced apart from the stabilizer bush. The structure is not costly and does not cause any complication or difficulty in the assembly work of the rear wheel suspension system. The bracket may have dual purposes of retaining the stabilizer bush and supporting a dynamic damper.

  • Patent number: 7921957
Abstract: A hood airbag device that includes an inflator, and an airbag. The inflator is provided inside a hood at a position corresponding to an opening formed in the hood. The inflator is disposed such that a gas-injection port (is positioned closer to the rear edge of the opening than to the front edge of the opening in the vehicle fore-and-aft direction. The airbag, which is provided inside the hood, passes through the opening and is deployed toward the outside of a vehicle body, due to the pressure of gas supplied from the inflator. Accordingly, the reference position for deployment of the airbag can be made closer to the rear of the vehicle in the vehicle fore-and-aft direction. Thus, the airbag can be deployed to a large extent in the area closer to the rear of the vehicle in the vehicle fore-and-aft direction.
