  • Patent number: 4592460
Abstract: The clutch disc for a motor vehicle friction disc clutch comprises a hub part and a disc part mounted rotatably on the hub part. The disc part carries clutch friction linings and is supported through springs with a multi-stage rotational elasticity characteristic on the hub part. Between a side disc of the disc part and a hub disc, an axially resilient control disc is braced. The control disc is supported through a first friction face pair radially within the space defined by the springs on the hub part and through a second friction face pair radially outside this region on the side disc of the disc part. A tab of the control disc couples the control disc with limited rotational play with the hub part. The friction face pairs determine friction torques of different magnitudes and are effective in alternation.

  • Patent number: 4591016
Abstract: A system used in conjunction with a hybrid flywheel drive. The hydraulic service brake system is conventional. The continuously variable transmission, flywheel, and control system for hybrid operation is super-imposed on the hydraulic system. A pressure transducer added to the master cylinder provides a voltage control signal. A solenoid valve added to the hydraulic circuit for the front service brakes, activated by the hybrid control system, may be closed during regenerative braking to trap the front hydraulic brake pressure, thereby enhancing energy recovery by regeneration. The flywheel clutch is closed to begin regeneration.

  • Patent number: 4589531
Abstract: A force-applying system is provided which combines a first direct electric actuator and a second, electrically controlled spring-applied actuator. The output force-applying member of the second actuator is operable through a force-transfer device one member of which is operatively loaded by the force-applying spring of the second actuator and another member of which is controlled by a solenoid. The operation is such that when the solenoid is energized, the members are out of engagement and when the solenoid is de-energized, the two members are engaged so as to operatively connect the spring to the output member. The solenoid and the electric motor of the direct actuator are controlled through an electrical circuit which ensures that the electric motor of the direct actuator is de-energized when the solenoid is de-energized.

  • Patent number: 4586596
Abstract: A clutch plate wherein the hub is assembled of two coaxial sleeve-like sections the inner of which has external teeth mating, with limited angular play, with internal teeth of the outer section. The two sections are held against axial movement with reference to one another by stops which are provided on the inner section and flank the outer section. A friction generating device is interposed between at least one of the stops and the respective end face of the outer section to oppose angular movements of the two sections relative to one another. The friction generating device has a friction disc which bears against the adjacent end face of the outer section and is in direct contact with an undulate or dished spring which reacts against a retainer bearing against the respective stop of the inner section. • Patent number: 4585110
Abstract: The clutch disc for a motor-vehicle friction clutch has a hub which defines an axis of rotation and from which there projects substantially radially a hub disc so as to be secured against rotation. On the hub there is mounted, so as to be rotatable through a limited angle of rotation, a friction lining carrier which comprises two side parts which are arranged on axially opposite sides of the hub disc and which are non-rotatably connected to each other and to the carrier. In the rotational path between the side parts and the hub disc there are arranged springs which are subjected to pressure during the relative movement of the friction lining carrier and the hub.
