  • Patent number: 8140263
Abstract: A position measuring unit measures measurement data including at least a movement velocity, an accuracy reduction index, and an azimuth on the basis of a signal received from a satellite. A determining unit for a distance determines validity of measurement data and determines whether to derive a distance conversion coefficient using the measurement data determined valid. When the deriving is determined, a distance conversion coefficient calculator derives a distance conversion coefficient. A determining unit for an angular velocity determines an effective range for an integration value of an output value from an angular velocity sensor over a predetermined period on the basis of a movement velocity included in measurement data, and determines whether to derive an angular velocity conversion coefficient on the basis of the effective range and the integration value of the output values over the predetermined period.

  • Patent number: 8131561
Abstract: An on-line approach to coordinating intradepartmental anatomic pathology consultations, including coordinating access to physical case materials and/or electronic case materials, is provided. In accordance with one method in a clinical computing environment, a command to initiate a share event for an anatomic pathology case is received. One or more share recipients are determined manually and/or automatically for the share event. In addition, whether any physical case materials and/or electronic case materials are associated with the anatomic pathology case is determined. If any physical case materials and/or electronic case materials are associated with the anatomic pathology case, share recipient access to the materials is coordinated. After each share recipient reviews the case, the share recipient may enter comments.

  • Patent number: 8117047
Abstract: A business model for a healthcare provider organization (10) (HPO) which comprises a preferred provider network (PPO) or other membership agreement that allows individuals or groups to join via a membership contract. The contract allows the HPO (10) to provide a technical component of a medical evaluation or service (16). Additionally, the HPO (10) employs or retains the services of healthcare professionals (18) who participate in and monitor an evaluation of a patient (20) who can be at a remote location from the healthcare professional. The HPO (10) provides a medical diagnostic unit (24), which is known as an EFA-2, that allows the healthcare professional to receive data that pertains to the patient (20) via a real-time communication protocol (28), or the patient data is collected and stored on an electronic storage device (30). The healthcare professional then analyzes the patient data and issues recommended treatment.

  • Patent number: 8117046
Abstract: Mobile clinicians conduct in-home patient visits utilizing on-site diagnostic and treatment equipment, where service is enhanced by the use of portable computing and communications equipment. Initially, a mobile care entity provides a network of predesignated mobile clinicians, each having the use of a preprogrammed portable computer. Each computer is coupled to a wireless communications device, and includes local storage of patient data. Under a predetermined schedule, each portable computer updates patient data in the local storage utilizing the wireless communications device to download updates from a central storage facility. Whenever the mobile care entity receives requests for medical service at a patient's premises, the entity selects a mobile clinician and dispatches him/her to the patient's premises. The clinician visits the patient's premises accompanied by an assortment of electronic diagnostic and treatment devices, such as a pulse oximiter, x-ray machine, lab analyzer, EKG equipment, etc.

  • Patent number: 8112290
Abstract: Novel methods for delivering a drug to hospital patients for short-term in-hospital use while minimizing long-term use of the drug. Embodiments are provided in which hospitals are identified which may be eligible to treat patients, for example, perform certain types of surgery, and which have measures in place to limit use of the drug to short-term use. The identified hospitals are preferably registered in a storage medium, including computer readable storage media, and may be authorized to receive the shipments of the drug. The received drug may then be dispensed to the patient.

  • Patent number: 8112287
Abstract: Systems and methods for determining an impact on spend and/or trend for a prescription drug plan are provided. In response to receiving the request to analyze spend and/or trend, a prescription drug spend and/or trend application may retrieve data related to the prescription drug plan from a database. The analysis of spend and/or trend includes a determination of components of spend and/or trend having a significant impact on spend and/or trend. In one example, the spend and/or trend application may determine whether an option is available to improve at least one of the components having the significant impact on spend and/or trend. If an option is available, the impact (e.g., financial impact, member impact) of the implementation of the option on the prescription drug plan may be modeled by the spend and/or trend application.

  • Patent number: 8112288
Abstract: Systems and methods for determining options for reducing spend and/or trend for a prescription drug plan are provided. Based on an analysis of spend and/or trend for the prescription drug plan, a prescription drug spend and/or trend application may determine that an option is available to reduce spend and/or trend. For example, an option may be provided that addresses a primary component of spend and/or trend as determined by the spend and trend application. In another example, an option may be provided that addresses a deviation by the prescription drug plan from a selected performance metric. In yet another example, an option may be provided that addresses a status change for a drug in a marketplace. The spend and/or trend application may optionally project an impact of an option on the prescription drug plan (e.g., financial impact, member impact) using a related model.
