  • Patent number: 6979949
Abstract: A fluorescent luminous tube is provided that has a getter mirror film formed in an arbitrary shape by illuminating a laser beam onto a getter. In order to form the getter film 32, the rectangular ring-less getter 31 mounted on the anode substrate 11 is irradiated with the laser beam L from the outside of the front substrate 12 and thus is evaporated. In this process, when the illumination spot of the laser beam L is moved along the scanning line 33, the rectangular getter mirror film 32 is formed around the scanning line 33. The burnt region 34, which has the same shape and size as those of the scanning line 33, is formed using the laser beam L.

  • Patent number: 6975065
Abstract: An organic EL display in which the film thickness of an organic emissive layer is made uniform so as to increase the effective light emission area. An anode and a common cathode are formed for each pixel on the organic EL display. Switching by thin-film transistors causes current to flow between the anode and the cathode so that the organic EL element emits light. The organic EL element comprises a hole transport layer, the organic emissive layer, and an electron transport layer. Among a plurality of pixels disposed in a matrix configuration, the organic emissive layer is formed in common with adjacent pixels of the same color. Forming the organic emissive layer in common can prevent a decrease in the film thickness of the organic emissive layer at the edges of the shadow mask during vapor deposition and result in a uniform film thickness of the organic emissive layer.

  • Patent number: 6971938
Abstract: The invention provides a display of a type of getting light out of a second electrode side, capable of increasing contrast by suppressing external light reflection, simplifying a manufacturing process, and reducing cost, and a method of manufacturing the same. A substrate for driving is provided with organic electroluminescence (EL) devices for getting light out of a cathode side. A red filter, a green filter, and a blue filter are formed on a substrate for sealing by printing so as to face the organic EL devices. By overlapping at least two filters out of the red, green, and blue filters by printing, a black matrix is formed so as to face the boundary region of the organic EL devices, so that external light reflection by a wiring electrode between the devices is suppressed.

  • Patent number: 6963159
Abstract: An image-forming apparatus includes a first substrate, a second substrate, and a spacer that defines the spacing between the first substrate and the second substrate. The spacer has a portion ruggedized with grooves on the surface thereof exposed in the space between the first substrate and the second substrate. The grooves extend in a striped fashion substantially parallel with the first substrate and the second substrate. The ruggedized portion includes a plurality of regions, which are different from each other, in the ruggedized configuration. The image-forming apparatus thus controls an electron beam with a high accuracy, with no disturbance caused by the spacer.

  • Patent number: 6952079
Abstract: A shaped light extraction luminaire to gather light from an organic light emitting diode (OLED). Specifically, an inverted and truncated pyramid structure having a recessed area configured to receive an OLED is provided. The luminaire is structured to increase the light emission of the OLED by capturing light emissions that would typically be lost by absorption within the OLED. The luminaire includes angled sides having a reflective material disposed thereon. The luminaire increases the light output of the OLED such that it may be implemented in area lighting applications. Further, an array comprising a plurality of recessed areas and a plurality of angled sides for each of the recessed areas may be implemented.

  • Patent number: 6949876
Abstract: A glass member for use in a cathode ray tube is provided, which can facilitate the heating and softening of glass during sealing and raise the productivity without decreasing the mechanical strength of the product by improving the shapes of the seal end faces of the panel and funnel. In an edge area between an edge of the seal end face of each side part of the glass member for use in the cathode ray tube comprising a glass panel or a funnel and a position about 5 mm away along a tube axis from the edge, a thin edge part is formed to have a thickness decreasing part. The rate of thickness decreasing thereof toward the edge is larger than that of a standard shape in a root area adjacent to the edge area. Also, the thin edge part is formed so that an inequality of 0.3?t1/t0?0.7 is satisfied where t1 is a thickness at a position 1 mm away along the tube axis from the edge, and t0 is a thickness at a position 5 mm away along the tube axis from the edge.

Abstract: An oxide composite particle of the present invention is composed of at least one fine gold particle contained in a matrix of an oxide particle or at least one fine gold particle supported fixedly on the surface of an oxide particle, and absorbs a visible light having a specific wavelength. A phosphor of the invention has a thin film which is composed of such oxide composite particles on the surface of a phosphor particle of red or the like. • Patent number: 6933673
Abstract: An object is to improve the element characteristic of a luminescent element. In an anode 122 connected to a drain interconnection 120 of a current-controlling TFT 202, slits are made. A transparent hole generating layer 124 is formed on the anode 122. Since the slits are made, luminescence can be taken out even if a light-shielding metal film is used as the anode 122. Since the hole generating layer 124 has semiconductivity, an electric field applied from the anode 122 to an organic compound layer 125 can be made uniform. Since holes are generated in the hole generating layer 124, the density of carriers injected from the anode 122 can be made high. In this way, a luminescent element having a low driving voltage and a high brightness can be manufactured.
