Abstract: A lubricating oil composition of TBN 8-9 having up to 0.3 wt. % sulfur, up to 0.08 wt. % phosphorus, and a sulfated ash content up to 0.80 wt. %, comprising an overbased magnesium-containing lubricating oil detergent, and 2.5 to 4 wt. % of a nitrogen-containing ashless dispersant.
Abstract: A process and apparatus are provided for upgrading steam cracked tars. The invention also relates to a steam cracking process and apparatus for reducing the yields of tars produced from steam cracking while increasing yields of higher value products, heating cooled steam cracker tar containing asphaltenes, to a temperature, e.g., above about 300° C., which is sufficient to convert at least a portion of the steam cracked tar to lower boiling molecules. The resulting heat-treated tar can be separated into gas oil, fuel oil and tar streams.
Abstract: A multigrade crankcase lubricating oil composition comprising a mineral oil-based basestock of lubricating viscosity in a major amount and a non-hydrogenated olefin polymer in a minor amount. Abstract: A stabilized lubricant composition is disclosed that comprises lubricating oil and a mixture of (a) at least one organophosphite compound and (b) at least one aromatic secondary amine or one substituted phenol or mixtures thereof. The compositions have been found to be highly resistant to oxidation under demanding service conditions and to be useful as turbine lubricants.
Abstract: The present invention relates to processes for fluidizing a population of catalyst particles that are depleted of catalyst fines. In one embodiment, the process includes providing a plurality of catalyst particles in the reactor, wherein the catalyst particles have a d2 value of greater than about 40 microns. The catalyst particles are contacted with a fluidizing medium under conditions effective to cause the catalyst particles to behave in a fluidized manner and form a fluidized bed. The particles are contacted with one or more primary obstructing members while in the fluidized bed. By fluidizing the catalyst particles in this manner, the catalyst particles can be maintained at an axial gas Peclet number of from about 10 to about 20.

Abstract: A unique combination of a certain poly(oxyalkylene) amine and a thiadiazole compound when employed as a fuel additive in a hydrocarbon fuel such as gasoline or diesel fuel will preclude fuel gauge sending units from sustaining sulfur-related corrosion damage or restore fuel gauge sending units, particularly silver-based fuel gauge sending units, in vehicle fuel storage tanks to like-new operational condition. Moreover, a method suitable for use in precluding fuel gauge sending units from sustaining sulfur-related corrosion damage or restoring silver-based fuel gauge sending units in gasoline or diesel vehicle fuel storage tanks to like-new operational condition using the combination of a certain poly(oxyalkylene) amine and a thiadiazole compound as a fuel additive is also described.
Abstract: The present invention relates to lubricating oils, and in particular to the use of lubricating oils with low sulphur content in combination with a low sulphur fuel to reduce particulate emissions of a diesel engine equipped with a particulate trap. Thus, there is provided the use of an engine lubricating oil having a low sulphur content in combination with a fuel having a low sulphur content, to reduce the emissions of nucleation mode particles from a diesel engine fitted with a particulate trap. There is also provided a method of reducing the number of nucleation mode particles in the emissions from a diesel engine fitted with a particulate trap, which method comprises using an engine lubricating oil having a low sulphur content in combination with a fuel having a low sulphur content.
Abstract: This invention provides a composition of lubricating oil for two stroke gasoline engine and a process for the preparation thereof. In addition to alkyl benzenes, the composition also contains an antioxidant, an antifoaming agent, a pour point dispersant, a corrosion inhibitor and a detergent-dispersant additive, an extreme pressure additive, a lubrication additives, comprising of the following steps (I) removing of insoluble matter from the base stock, (II) tailoring by vacuum distillation, (III) blending of different alkylates, (IV) removing the oxidized matters by adsorption, (V) addition of performance additives and homogenizing the mixture. The product of this invention has utility as lubricating oil for two stroke gasoline engine in both water-cooled and air-cooled two-cycle gasoline engines producing reduced smoke.

Said powder mixture comprises a powder of a metal alloy that is a precursor for the matrix of said material, particles of a first solid lubricant such as CeF3 that are for insertion in said matrix without reacting with said metal alloy, and particles of a second solid lubricant such as WS2 or MoS2 for reacting with a component of said metal alloy during sintering of the powder to form a lubricating phase. Said material can be used for fabricating a bushing that is to receive a root of a variable-pitch vane of an airplane turbojet compressor.
