  • Patent number: 4515374
Abstract: A moveable target assembly includes a self-propelled carriage upon which a target is mounted for rolling movement across terrain. Axially flexible track sections are coupled together in an end to end fashion so as to define a prescribed course or path which the target will follow. The track defines a substantially planar surface and is relatively thin so that it lies flat on the surface of the terrain and thus does not present an impediment to other vehicles, infantry troops or the like that desire to traverse it. However, as the carriage is propelled along the course defined by the track, a track guide will cause successive portions of the flexible track to be initially upwardly displaced so as to perform its guiding functions yet such portions will be returned to their terrain-engaging relationship once the carriage has advanced.

  • Patent number: 4502628
Abstract: A cart track assembly for use with a cart having steerable castor wheels includes a pair of parallel, spaced apart tracks mounted to a support surface. Each track includes a number of elongate main track segments and widened transition track segments coupling the main track segments. The main segments have parallel, upright sides defining a relatively narrow pathway between the sides. The widened segments preferably include sides which flare outwardly to define a widened transition area. The transition area is large enough to allow the castor wheels to pivot 180.degree. about their vertical pivot axis after the cart has reversed direction. This allows the castor wheels to roll smoothly along the track after the direction of the movement of the cart has been reversed.

  • Patent number: 4497409
Abstract: An apparatus to permit inspection of an object. The apparatus has a track with which the object can move. There is a carriage to carry the object along with the track. A clamp holds the object as it moves. An inspection zone is positioned on the track. There is a brake to stop the object moving along with the track at the inspection zone and the object is rapidly rotated in the inspection zone so it may be inspected, for example, by camera.

  • Patent number: 4494657
Abstract: An integral housing member for removing magnetic articles from a flow of loosely packed material containing a mixture of magnetic articles and non-magnetic articles is shown. The integral housing member includes an inlet cover having an elongated opening, a hollowed-out central area and an opening located at the bottom of the integral housing member which terminates in a rim engaging lip having substantially the same diameter as the top opening of the trash receptacle. A magnetic article assembly is positioned below the elongated opening and is adapted to be rotated about the longitudinal axis of an elongated support shaft. The magnetic article assembly includes a plurality of triangular shaped metal plates, magnetic members and non-magnetic members, all of which have an aperture formed in the center thereof which has the elongated support shaft passed therethrough.

  • Patent number: 4493766
Abstract: A rotating sorter is provided for the removal of minuscule pollutants from fiber material suspensions by means of a symmetrical fixed filter basket disposed in a fixed spiral-shaped housing and in whose interior a generally vertical axle rotates sorter vanes in close proximity to the filter basket. Fiber material suspension to be sorted is delivered to a generally ring-shaped sorting space formed between the filter basket and housing. The direction of flow of fiber material suspension delivered to the filter basket occurs substantially tangentially thereto and generally perpendicular to the rotating axle, and quality material is sorted into the interior of the filter basket.

  • Patent number: 4491074
Abstract: A vehicle for transporting heavy loads on parallel tracks is disclosed. Two of the wheels of the vehicle are fixedly mounted to the vehicle frame, while the remaining wheels are mounted so that they can vertically adjust to deviations in the height of the rail track. In this manner, heavy loads can be transported on the rail tracks without any particular wheel becoming overloaded. In the preferred embodiment, the adjustable wheels are supported by bell crank levers which are themselves connected to one another by a parallelogram linkage arrangement.

  • Patent number: 4480754
Abstract: A screening apparatus for grains comprises a housing, wherein a support structure is arranged which is rotatable by means of a main shaft. The support carries a screen drum rotatably mounted upon a planet shaft arranged eccentrically with respect to the main shaft. The support, furthermore, carries vanes engaging a delivery channel for the screened goods. In order to achieve a comparatively small resulting centrifugal force effect upon the material fed to the screen drum, while maintaining optimal peripheral speeds as regards the delivery vanes and the speed of the screen drum, the screen drum is arranged with an eccentricity with respect to the main shaft which is smaller that the greatest radius of the screen drum.

  • Patent number: 4476980
Abstract: The invention provides a spiral separator of the type for use in separating a pulp of water and minerals into mineral fractions of differing densities and having a helical trough (30) supported with its axis upright. The shape of the trough working surface profile (30) varies (FIGS. 2A-2D) from place to place along the trough. The profile has a point of maximum displacement (32A, 32B, 32C, 32D) at which profile (30) is at a maximum spacing below a notional straight line (40) joining the inner end (31) and outer end (22) of the trough working surface profile (30). The distance of the point of maximum displacement (32A, 32B, 32C, 32D) from one end (31 or 22) of the profile varies along the trough. A method for manufacture of troughs according to the invention is also described and claimed.
