Abstract: A base station for use in a wireless network is operable to communicate with a plurality of mobile stations. The base station transmits a downlink frame to a first mobile station. The downlink frame comprises time-frequency resource elements allocated in a plurality of physical resource blocks. The base station transmits the plurality of physical resource blocks in bundles having a bundle size that is a function of the system bandwidth configuration and the base station uses the same precoder for all physical resource blocks in the same bundle. The bundle size is from one physical resource block to three physical resource blocks.

  • Patent number: 9295014
Abstract: When performing interference cancellation on selected information (e.g., synchronization signals, certain broadcast signals, etc.) through cross correlation, symbol periods of signals being combined will generally match up. Slight mismatches will generally produce negligible impact on interference cancellation. However, where the mismatch is severe due to significant timing offsets, serious performance degradation may occur, particularly when timing offsets are sufficiently large as to overlap data portions of a transmission. By selectively puncturing resource elements prior to the selected information and/or after the selected information, the selected information may be protected and allow for interference cancellation even in cases of large timing offsets.

  • Patent number: 9288026
Abstract: A reference signal is transmitted on multiple non-contiguous clusters of resources. A user equipment (UE) may be scheduled for data transmission on the multiple non-contiguous clusters, and each cluster may cover a set of contiguous subcarriers. The UE may generate the reference signal based on at least one reference signal (RS) sequence using code division multiplexing (CDM) or frequency division multiplexing (FDM). In a design, the UE generates the reference signal with CDM based on a single RS sequence having a length matching the total length of the multiple non-contiguous clusters. In another design, the UE generates the reference signal with CDM based on one RS sequence for each cluster. In yet another design, the UE generates the reference signal with FDM and transmits the reference signal on a subset of all subcarriers for the multiple non-contiguous clusters.

  • Patent number: 9282500
Abstract: A system and method for ad-hoc beyond line of sight high frequency (HF) radio frequency communication is disclosed. Embodiments of the present invention may augment the HF waveform incorporated with Advanced automatic link establishment (A2LE) to determine relay-hop paths between a plurality of HF nodes. Systems herein may setup and teardown bi-directional one hop HF communication sessions between two HF nodes having RF connectivity directly as well as through an intermediary relay node. Additionally, the setup and teardown may include bi-directional relay hop HF communication sessions between two HF nodes through multiple intermediary relay nodes. In performing the bi-directional relay hop HF communication sessions, systems herein may select a relay node, perform automatic link monitoring and link re-establishment, support message store and forward, and route HF communication along a path around potential barriers to communication (e.g., nuclear scintillation, solar flares, and coronal mass events).

  • Patent number: 9282019
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for a network controller that manages several managed forwarding elements. The method receives a request to trace a specified packet having a particular source on a logical switching element. The method generates the packet at the network controller according to the packet specification. The generated packet includes an indicator that the packet is for a trace operation. The method inserts the packet into a managed forwarding element associated with the particular source. The method receives a set of messages from a set of managed forwarding elements that process the packet regarding operations performed on the packet.

  • Patent number: 9271136
Abstract: There lies a challenge to develop a technique of effectively establishing a direct communication link between client devices in a communication network. In some implementations, an associated STA is a client device which is associated with a particular access point (AP). A non-associated STA is a client device which is not associated with the AP. A tunneled probe request may be transmitted by an associated STA through the AP to be broadcast to other associated STAs. In some implementations, an active scan may be combined with a tunneled probe request in order to establish a communication link between an associated STA and a non-associated STA.

  • Patent number: 9271196
Abstract: An application requirement of an application running on a wireless device in communication with a first access node, a traffic class indicator associated with the wireless device, and a wireless communication link load between the wireless device and the first access node are determined. A probability of performing a first handover of the wireless device to a second access node and a second handover of the wireless device from the second access node to the first access node within a predetermined period of time is also determined. Based on the application requirement, the traffic class indicator, the wireless communication link load, and the determined probability, a context maintenance time is calculated, and a timer is started using the context maintenance time when the first handover is performed, and communication session information related to the communication between the wireless device and the first access node is maintained until the timer expires.

  • Patent number: 9270564
Abstract: A network element in an Ethernet OAM network is operable to detect congestion associated with an OAM domain and generate a congestion notification to MEPs in the OAM domain using a modified Ethernet OAM protocol. When a network element detects congestion in one or more queues associated with an MEP in an OAM domain, it triggers a congestion state. The MEP transmits a congestion notification to other MEPs in the OAM domain. The notifying MEP, as well as other MEPs receiving the congestion notification, initiate a network management protocol message to a network management system for the OAM domain. The MEPs in the OAM domain may also propagate the congestion notification to MEPs in higher maintenance level OAM domains.

  • Patent number: 9253086
Abstract: A method implementing dynamic next-hop routing at a network device is disclosed. The network device contains a routing information base (RIB) and a forwarding information base (FIB). The method starts with receiving a request to create a dynamic next-hop type using a next-hop schema. The dynamic next-hop type is for a prefix associated with an application. The next-hop schema includes a set of functions and a set of fields associated with the set of functions. The dynamic next-hop type is created using the next-hop schema at the RIB, where the set of fields associated with the set of functions of the dynamic next-hop type is processed. The created dynamic next-hop type is then downloaded to the FIB, where the set of functions of the dynamic next-hop type is processed. Afterward, an identifier associated with the dynamic next-hop type for the prefix associated with the application is returned.

  • Patent number: 9253789
Abstract: A wireless digital communication system includes a base station in communication with a plurality of user equipment mobile terminals (UEs). The system prioritizes the forwarding of blocks of downlink data to designated ones of the UEs. The system employs adaptive modulation and coding (AM&C) to achieve improved radio resource utilization and provides optimum data rates for user services. Blocks of downlink (DL) data are received by the base station which requests downlink (DL) channel quality measurements only from those mobile terminals (UEs) with pending downlink transmissions. The UEs respond to the request by measuring and reporting DL channel quality to the base station, which then allocates resources such that the UEs will make best use of radio resources. The base station notifies the UEs of the physical channel allocation indicating the modulation/coding rate and allocated slots followed by transmission of blocks of downlink data which are transmitted to the UEs.
