Abstract: A wireless communication apparatus on the receiving side receives communication data that is a transmitted to the wireless communication apparatus using one of the plurality of channels. Subsequently, the wireless communication apparatus on the receiving side obtains channel information contained in the communication data received by the receiving unit and judges whether the obtained channel information is target information indicating a channel of a processing target. The wireless communication apparatus on the receiving side performs a receiving process on the received communication data, when the judging unit determines that the obtained channel information is the target information, performs a receiving process on the communication data received by the receiving unit and that, when the judging unit determines that the obtained channel information is not the target information, discards the received communication data.

  • Patent number: 9215701
Abstract: Described herein is a technique for aggregating background traffic packets by the background users instead of performing a random access procedure to request an uplink resource for each new packet. Since the same physical random access channel (PRACH) resources are used for random access procedures by multiple UEs, collisions can occur. The PRACH is expected to operate with very low collision rates, but if the number of users increases, the collision rate increases as well as the error rate. The disclosed technique reduces the collision rate by reducing the number of random access procedures used to transmit background traffic.

  • Patent number: 9204358
Abstract: A method for prioritizing handover targets for scanning by a mobile terminal, MS (6), in a wireless network (1) having a plurality of network elements (2 to 5), comprises a network element (2) receiving a signal from an MS (6) for which it is the serving network element and the network element detecting the direction from which it receives the signal from the MS. For the detected direction, the network element obtains, from a data store (2B) associated with the network element (2), probabilities of successful handover to respective different neighboring network elements. The network element (2) uses the probabilities in prioritizing scanning order of neighboring network elements and sends information about the prioritized scanning order to the MS (6). The network may be a WiMAX network in which the network elements are base stations.

  • Patent number: 9178577
Abstract: A radio communication system comprises a communication channel for the transmission of data packets (302) from a primary station having a plurality of antennas to a secondary station having at least one antenna. The channel comprises a plurality of paths, and the primary station transmits a plurality of packets substantially simultaneously. Each of the plurality of packets is transmitted via a different subset of the plurality of paths, for example by arranging for each packet to be transmitted via a different antenna or antenna beam. The secondary station receives the plurality of data packets, determines whether each packet is received correctly and signals this determination (typically as an acknowledgement (304) or a negative acknowledgement (306)) to the primary station for each of the plurality of packets. The signaling may be by any convenient means, for example transmitting each acknowledgement or negative acknowledgement via a different subset of available uplink paths.
