  • Patent number: 9066283
Abstract: Provided are a basic service set (BSS) load management procedure and a quiet interval setup procedure in a wireless local area network (WLAN) system. The WLAN system uses a bonding channel, and an access point (AP) of the WLAN system provides BSS load information regarding a channel having a bandwidth less than or equal to a bandwidth of the bonding channel (e.g., each of channels of 20 MHz, 40 MHz, 60 MHz, and 80 MHz) to STAs of the WLAN system. The BSS load information may be specified by an extended BSS load element. The AP transmits the extended BSS load element to the STAs by including the BSS load information to a beacon frame or a probe response frame.

  • Patent number: 9055603
Abstract: A method is disclosed of scheduling up-link transmissions for a number of terminals of a wireless communication system into a number of groups, wherein each group comprises terminals intended for simultaneous up-link transmission during a respective period of time. A subset metric may be calculated for each of a number of subsets of terminals based on transmissions received from the terminals of the subset. The subset metric is indicative of a simultaneous transmission suitability measure for the terminals of the subset. The subsets may be processed in subset metric order, starting with the subset having a subset metric indicating a least suitability of simultaneous transmission. During the processing, each terminal of the subset that is not already scheduled in a group may be scheduled in a group that does not already comprise another terminal of the subset.

  • Patent number: 9054915
Abstract: A system and method for establishing a phone call over a packet network. The process may receive a call request from an originating call device to a termination call device. A determination may be made to determine whether the terminating call device is available. If the terminating call device is determined to be available, transmission path status information between the originating and terminating call devices may be retrieved. Status of the transmission path on the packet network between the originating and terminating call devices may be determined. If the status of the transmission path is determined to be within a first range, a call may be established between the originating and terminating call devices via an encoder/decoder (CODEC) having a first data rate. Otherwise, the call may be established between the originating and terminating call devices via a CODEC having a second, lower data rate.

  • Patent number: 9042398
Abstract: A credit based queue scheduler dynamically adjusts credits depending upon at least a moving average of incoming packet size to alleviate the impact of traffic burstiness and packet size variation, and increase the performance of the scheduler by lowering latency and jitter. For the case when no service differentiation is required, the credit is adjusted by computing a weighted moving average of incoming packets for the entire scheduler. For the case when differentiation is required, the credit for each queue is determined by a product of a sum of credits given to all queues and priority levels of each queue.

  • Patent number: 9031053
Abstract: Techniques for transmitting data in a relay communication network are described. In an aspect, stations in the relay network may be grouped into multiple depths, and stations at each depth may send the same transmission in each time interval. Packets may be transmitted in a pipelined manner in the relay network. Transmissions of a packet may be sent by stations at progressively higher depth in successive time intervals. A station may perform auto-configuration, attempt to decode transmissions from stations at different depths, and determine its depth based on decoding results. In another aspect, stations at each depth may transmit the same synchronization signal, and stations at different depths may transmit different synchronization signals. In one design, the synchronization signals for different depths may be different pilots, which may be generated with different scrambling codes or different orthogonal codes or may be multiplexed in frequency and/or time.

  • Patent number: 9019985
Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for scheduling multiple concurrent transmissions during a contention access period in a wireless communications network are presented. Aspects of the system comprise communicating devices (DEVs) within a piconet that are operable to derive a neighborhood map of a piconet. The neighborhood map information may enable a plurality of DEVs to concurrently transmit signals during a given channel time allocation (CTA) time slot. The ability for multiple DEVs to transmit signals concurrently during a single CTA time slot may increase spectral reuse within a wireless communication medium. In another aspect the system, the neighborhood map information may enable individual DEVs to set clear channel assessment (CCA) thresholds. Individual DEVs may utilize CCA threshold information to determine when to transmit signals to one or more destination DEVs and/or at what rate to transmit data via the signals.
