Abstract: A lamp assembly is disclosed as adapted for use as a supplemental high mounted stop lamp for motor vehicles. A lamp body has a paraboloidal reflector for producing parallel rays of light from a source mounted therein. For reducing the axial dimension of the lamp body to a minimum, a generally planar lens is mounted at its open front end, with the lens having a multiplicity of prism elements formed on its outer surface for internally reflecting the parallel rays in a direction at a considerable angle to the axis of the reflector. Additional embodiments are disclosed for imparting both lateral and vertical divergence to the light beam emitted, and for producing two vertically overlapping light beams.

  • Patent number: 4702330
Abstract: The braking and steering brake system of the present invention comprises two master cylinders, operable singly or jointly via brake pedals, with the master cylinders having a primary and a secondary piston each operating in a bore. The primary pressure chambers formed by the pistons are connected to the rear wheel brakes of a vehicle. The secondary pressure chambers are interconnected via a pressure fluid line in any state of operation. The primary pressure chambers via a valve arrangement and pressure medium line are interconnected in both the release position and in the braking position. The brakes of the non-steering-braked front axle are connected to the pressure fluid line. In a steering brake position, through a compression spring, one of the two valve arrangements closes so that only the steered-braked brake is supplied with pressure medium.

  • Patent number: 4699884
Abstract: The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for the simultaneous application of a multiplicity of liquid samples to an object stage (2), more especially of sera to an object stage overgrown with cell cultures. In this connection, according to the invention the liquid samples are pressed with the aid of a multipipette (3) through a funnel plate (4), which rests immovably on the object stage (2) and which has a multiplicity of funnel-shaped containers (5) disposed side by side in a plane. The funnel plate (4) is then preferably left on the object stage (2) overgrown with cell cultures, until such time as incubation of the applied serum has taken place. By means of the process according to the invention, running of the sera is avoided and handling in a simple and reliable manner for the purposes of the laboratory investigation is guaranteed.

  • Patent number: 4697619
Abstract: The solenoid valve actuates a pilot valve body which cooperates with a stationary seat surface. The pilot valve body actuates a main valve body of an on-off valve having a piston with a calibrated leakage. The cylindrical chamber on one side of the piston communicates with the inflow side of the on-off valve when the solenoid valve is opened via the pilot valve body, and the cylinder chamber on the other side of the piston communicates directly with a discharge. That side of the piston which is near the main valve body is isolated from the flow path of the on-off valve. The possibility of leakage is reduced considerably for a very reduced constructional outlay, electricity consumption is low and the loss of valve-time cross-section associated with an opening instruction is reduced.

  • Patent number: 4696452
Abstract: A trip throttle valve with a manual exerciser and combination of a hydraulic piston and a biasing force bearing sleeve is provided in place of a piston. The piston is not directly connected to a valve stem and the sleeve is threadably engaged with the valve stem so as to cause relative axial movement between the sleeve and the valve stem when the stem is rotated through the manual exerciser. The hydraulic portion of the valve is provided with a by-pass passage so that the piston is made axially movable toward the sleeve under the pressure which occurs when the by-pass passage for the hydraulic liquid is blocked but the piston is arrested at a certain axial position where the by-pass passage is still blocked and the axial movement of the sleeve is restricted against the piston.
