  • Patent number: 4653461
Abstract: A microwave oven has a trivet in the form of a perforated metal plate which is a receptacle for food, is metal and is supported on a turntable of the oven. The metal plate and the turntable are both insulated by stove enamel to prevent sparking. The plate and the turntable enclose a space which is thereby shielded from electrical fields generated in the microwave oven so that fats and juices draining into the space from food cooked above the trivet do not absorb substantial quantities of microwave power and therefore do not boil or smoke. A rack may be placed on the trivet to support food at a level higher than the trivet.

  • Patent number: 4653468
Abstract: A cooking pan includes a handle made up of a tubular stainless steel insert and upper and lower wires. The upper wire wraps around the insert and is welded at each end to the pan body. The lower wire is welded at one end to the pan body and at the other end to the insert. The wires provide three struts connecting the insert and the pan body, and are formed of a configuration and material adapted to minimize heat transfer to the insert. In this way an all-metal handle is provided which does not heat excessively in use. Preferably the insert is inclined upwardly towards the pan at an angle of 25.degree. to increase the comfort of the user.

  • Patent number: 4644968
Abstract: Master clutch pressure and lubrication valve which consolidates both such functions or services for a power operated clutch pack, all to insure the necessary conservation of cooling lubrication oil at times when full engagement pressure on the clutch pack can have stabilized it against further clutch slip, but at times otherwise to insure a liberal flow of the cooling oil. By built-in delay of cooling flow change following clutch actuation in the valve, it makes the transition between the two rates of cooling flow by temporarily sustaining liberal circulation of the cooling flow for that initial time after full engagement pressure exerts itself on the clutch pack. Sometimes a clutch will continue slipping, just for that initial time.

  • Patent number: 4637373
Abstract: An oven includes a baking chamber defined by the inner case. The two storied upper and lower racks are provided in the baking chamber with a distance in-between. On both edges of these racks the rear end part of a U-letter shaped supporting member is fixed respectively, with the tips of said supporting members penetrating through a long hole formed horizontally at a predetermined height on the inner case. Consequently, both upper and lower racks are respectively so constructed as to move horizontally in the baking chamber. On each of both outer sides of the inner case a connecting rod is provided which is pivotally sustained at its upper end so that it can be turned round. This connecting rod is connected with the tips of the supporting member, and at its lower end it is connected through an arm with the door which pivotally opens and closes at its lower end line. By opening the door, therefore, both upper and lower racks are withdrawn forward to the opening side of the oven.

  • Patent number: 4637588
Abstract: A nozzle dam for providing a fluid-tight seal across a primary fluid nozzle in the plenum of a nuclear steam generating vessel includes an elongated shaft coupled at one end thereof to an anchor assembly frictionally engageable with the inner surface of the nozzle to anchor the dam in place and a fluid-impermeable seal apparatus coupled to the shaft and closing the nozzle and frictionally engageable with the inner surface thereof to form a fluid-tight seal. The seal apparatus includes a circular plate disposable in wedging frictional engagement with a frustoconical portion of the nozzle inner surface. The shaft extends through a central aperture in the plate and is threadedly engaged with a nut which holds the plate in place. The anchor assembly includes a foldable tripod arrangement coupled to the shaft in such a way that movement of the shaft toward the seal plate effects an increase in the frictional anchoring force. The seal assembly also includes an inflatable portion.

  • Patent number: 4637371
Abstract: An auxiliary heater for a vehicle heating system of the type having a burner projecting into a combustion chamber delimited by a combustion tube from which combustion gases emerge and are introduced into an annular space through which the combustion gases flow in an opposite direction to an exhaust outlet, the annular space being bounded peripherally by a heat exchanger containing a heat-transferring medium, such as water. In order to improve the efficiency of such an auxiliary vehicle heater and to lower the temperature of the combustion gases leaving the exhaust outlet, the cross-sectional flow-through area of the annular space is reduced in the flow direction toward the exhaust outlet. Fins are provided which project into the annular space a distance that reduces in correspondence with the reduction in the cross-sectional area of the annular space. The reduction in the cross-sectional area of the annular space may be continuous or in steps.

  • Patent number: 4635901
Abstract: There is disclosed herein an apparatus forming a part of an actuator for providing a constant visual display of the position of a valve. Such apparatus comprises an indicator shaft rotatably disposed in a bore which is oriented perpendicularly of and offset from an actuator stem, a rack means on the actuator stem, a pinion means on the indicator shaft, and an indicating means engraved on the end face of the indicator shaft and visible from the exterior of the actuator. The apparatus is sealingly enclosed and immersed in a fluid medium. Linear motion of the actuator stem generates angular motion of the indicator shaft, causing the indicating means to provide a visual display of valve position.

  • Patent number: 4634372
Abstract: A Coanda flare for disposing of gas-liquid combustible materials has a Coanda body of the external type positioned across a high pressure line to form an annular slot. The annular slot acts as an outlet for high pressure gas-liquid combustible materials and directs the issuing materials over the outer surface of the Coanda body thereby entraining surrounding air. The ratio of the radius of curvature of the Coanda body to the annular slot width is in the range 4 to 100 and the ratio of the diameter of the high pressure line to the radius of curvature of the Coanda body is in the range 0.2 to 25.

  • Patent number: 4632658
Abstract: The disclosure relates to an apparatus having a burner and a heat exchanger wherein between a hollow cylinder provided with an end wall and a concentric insert there is formed an annular gap which is free from integers and in which the combustion gases flow from the burner to the outlet. The object is to provide apparatus which permits a starting phase with a pure flame and without pulsations and wherein at the same time the lower power limit can be considerably reduced. This object is achieved by providing in the end of the insert facing the end wall with an annular end wall and a central burner for gasified liquid or gaseous fuel centrally disposed in the insert. A burner having a heatable central fuel preparing chamber and a passage system for the air of combustion with a concentric mouth, and a burner tube as an extension of the insert terminates at a spacing from the end wall of the hollow cylinder.
