  • Patent number: 6447262
Abstract: A pumping system for selectively activating the stages of a multi-stage centrifugal pump is provided. The pumping system has a first stage impeller for receiving fluid into the system and imparting rotational energy into the fluid. The system also has a second stage impeller for centrifugally imparting additional rotational energy into the fluid after the first stage impeller. A valve selectively closes an inlet to the second stage impeller so that the system operates as a single stage centrifugal pump while the second stage impeller remains wetted.

  • Patent number: 6443707
Abstract: A control valve for variable displacement compressor that prevents fluid fixation between a rod and a guide hole is provided. A first rod (89) extends through a first guide hole (88) to couple a bellows (87) to a valve body (74). A second rod (96) extends through a second guide hole (95) to couple a movable iron core (93) to the valve body (74). Tapered surfaces (89b, 96b) are formed on the outer surfaces of the first and second rods (89, 96). The space-between each tapered surface (89b 96b) and the inner surface (88a, 95a) of the corresponding guide hole (88, 95) is wider in the vicinity of a high pressure zone (73, 90) than in the vicinity of a low pressure zone (84, 91).

  • Patent number: 6428290
Abstract: An air pump comprises an outer tube, a distribution guide tube, and a spring. The outer tube is provided in the interior with a large cylinder and a small cylinder. The distribution guide tube is disposed at the lower end of the outer tube and is provided with two air chambers, one of which is in communication with the large cylinder and is provided with a pressure leaking slide block, two leakproof rings, and an annular groove located between the two leakproof rings for forming a duct. The spring is disposed in the air chamber for providing the pressure leaking slide block with a recovery spring force. Another air chamber of the distribution guide tube is in communication with the large cylinder and the small cylinder for discharging air to inflate an inflatable object.

  • Patent number: 6408628
Abstract: A wall element (29A, 29B) for a combustor (20) of a gas turbine engine (10). The wall element (29A, 29B) defines an axis. In use, the axis is arranged generally parallel to the principal axis of the engine (10). In one aspect, the length of the wall element (29B) along the axis is at least substantially 20% of the length of the wall element (29B) transverse to the axis. In another aspect, the wall element (29A, 29B) has a first pair of opposite edges extending transverse to the axis and a second pair of opposite edges (48, 50) extending transverse to the first pair, at least one of the second pair of edges (48, 50) being angled relative to the axis of the wall element (29A, 29B).
