  • Patent number: 4124214
Abstract: A method and apparatus for playing a game by posing a question to a player to elicit one of several possible responses, each of the possible responses having an answer value differing from answer values of other responses, the answer value of the selected answer determining the player's change of position in the game. The questions presented may relate a dream and its context, and require the player to select one of several possible interpretations. His playing position is adjusted in proportion to the accuracy of the selected interpretation. The questions presented may be broken into subsets, each subset comprising questions of comparable difficulty. The subset from which the question for that playing turn will be taken may be determined in such manner that the likelihood of selecting a subset with questions of higher difficulty is smaller than the likelihood of selecting a subset with questions of lower difficulty.

  • Patent number: 4124213
Abstract: A game apparatus is disclosed in which distinguishable sets of playing pieces are provided and with each player of the game receiving one of the sets for movement on the playing surface, which is divided into a grid-like array of spaces defining a path for movement of the pieces in either a horizontal or vertical direction. A plurality of corner starting zones to provide each player of the game with designated spaces for initial positioning of one of the sets therein is provided, as well as a plurality of distinguishable finishing zones to provide each player of the game with designated spaces to reach in order to win the game. A chance device is operable by players of the game apparatus for determining the possible number of spaces a particular playing piece shall move along the playing surface for movement from the starting zones to the finishing zones.

  • Patent number: 4123062
Abstract: A game played by two persons, namely a player and an opponent player. Each player has an equal plurality of playing pieces, and each player has alternate turns at manipulating a plurality of discrete identification elements bearing symbols, e.g. a pair of dice, and continuing his turn as long as the symbols can be used, either separately or in combination, to move his or his opponent's playing pieces on a playing board in correspondence to the symbols on the identification elements. The object of the game is to get all the playing pieces of the player or opponent player into certain positions on the playing board, and the multiple choice strategy entails a player moving his own playing pieces either towards the preestablished finish position or positions, or moving his opponent player's pieces back from a final position or positions. The multiple choice strategy evolves from the novel method of steps and alternate choice involved in the game.

  • Patent number: 4116442
Abstract: A baseball game includes a board having a playing surface with upstanding walls attached to marginal edges thereof forming a fence, markings on the surface to simulate a baseball field, and simulated players on the surface at infield and outfield positions of the field. A bat in the form of an L-shaped member is located at the home plate position with one leg thereof having a lower surface resting on the playing surface and another leg thereof extending downwardly through an opening provided in the board. A launcher for a ball to be played extends toward the bat and rests at one end on the playing surface and between opposite ends on an upper edge of one of the fence walls. The ball may therefore be batted as the downwardly extending leg of the bat is rotated about its central axis so as to swing the one leg through a batting movement.

  • Patent number: 4113260
Abstract: A game simulating the outdoor game of golf. Game equipment, to accommodate one to eight players, includes 18 playing boards simulating respective hole areas on a golf course, two hazard, green and putt spinners, eight dice, nine playing pieces, eight stroke counters, a plurality of skill cards, usually 120, and two re-usable score cards, two score pencils, and two score card sloths to remove pencil markings on the score cards. The game pieces, equipment, playing boards, and indicia and markings are engineered in accordance with laws of mathematical probability such that realistic scores are obtained as though the players were actually on a golf course. Thus, close correlation and simulation of actual conditions, objects and scores, is achieved, this by virtue of the relationship and correlation of physical materials and components with printed indicia.

  • Patent number: 4111427
Abstract: A space travel game with game board having a primary path of movement and auxiliary paths connected with the primary path. A spinner apparatus is divided into numbered pie-shaped wedges of alternating colors and controls the amount and direction of travel. The paths comprise interconnected series of blocks, the blocks being grouped into alternating series of different colors. The pointer of the spinner indicates the number of blocks to be traveled and the color of the path to be taken upon reaching an intersection of a primary path with an auxiliary path. Game pieces shaped in the form of spaceships, different groups of cards, and a separate chance control device are involved in the playing of the game.

  • Patent number: 4108443
Abstract: A board game in which two players have facing sets of numbered pieces, each piece of each player being capable of capturing a predetermined number of the other player's pieces in accordance with their numerical values. Each turn consists of a player capturing those pieces which he can, removing the captured and capturing pieces from play, and then making a "move." A move involves a player re-positioning one of his pieces which remain in play in his line of pieces. The type of move taken by a player is determined by the roll of a die.

  • Patent number: 4108442
Abstract: A golf game in which a game board is provided on which to determine a wind-condition for play and to mark and record player decisions relative to club selection, method of aiming, and the type shot that will be made. A plurality of fairways are provided on cards or boards preferably simulating an actual golf course i.e., there could be nine boards with a fairway on each side of the board simulating the eighteen fairways of an actual golf course. Each fairway board is marked to show the area, distance marker, selected terrain features, and areas that are possible landing sites for shot balls. The greens are color-coded for the purpose of defining putt difficulty. Before teeing off, a player spins the wind vane to determine the wind condition with which he must cope, then with reference to the fairway board, he chooses a club, the point of aim, and the type shot. These decisions are punched on to a calculator and totaled.

  • Patent number: 4106774
Abstract: An assembly to play golf on a game board and characterized by using die-like polyhedrons which are each marked on the faces thereof with indicia defining playing directions cooperatively associated with the polyhedron to indicate achieved move or results corresponding to those of a real golf game. Each polyhedron and the indicia thereon are cooperatively associated to define substantially the same proportional likelihood of achieving any particular result as in a real golf game at the tee, along the fairway, and on the green. This is achieved by the assembly comprising separate polyhedrons for driving, for the fairway, and for putting, and such that any polyhedron is shaped and marked to respect the above-mentioned proportional likelihood upon operative throwing thereof. The polyhedrons include a largest polyhedron of 50 faces, an intermediate polyhedron of 26 faces and a smallest polyhedron of 12 faces.
